Faith tested?

I came to think about this other thread here at BB, the one about Faith and the "true slayer". My conclusion was; Buffy never accepted Faith as the slayer, only as a slayer. Because in her mind and world, she had always been and was always going to be the slayer. So Buffy and everyone around her treated Faith as the other slayer, the little sister, while she really should have been treated like the one and only. I think that this treatment of Faith, and the little siter-comment Buffy made, has contributed to a rather degrading way of looking at Faith and her relationship to Buffy. Having Faith being younger would fit in to the picture everyone already had: Faith, the slayer that wasn't quite as good as Buffy, the slayer that turned complete psycho when Buffy didn't. However, if it is true that Faith is older, the way the slayers relationship comes across to us changes, in various ways, and some people might not like those changes.

Always been my opinion 🙂 It's got so much to do with Buffy's personality, the fact that it always seems like she's right for some reason... Even if there might actually be other ways to look at it. I think this is why I at all care about Faith's age. 'Cause it sort of tells us something about Buffy, that it doesn't have to be the way she thinks it is. I don't know, it's a very little thing, but to me it does make some kind of difference... It would just be more typical if Faith was younger.. Which is why I want her to be older..

That's what I was thinking. That's why Faith's age is so damn important to me, because it really tells us more about Buffy than about Faith, even if it is just a couple of months.

I don't know why Faith HAS to be younger? Just becuase Buffy acts like a big sister, doesn't mean she has to be older. And besides, if it is true that Faith is just a little bit older than Buffy, it's just by a couple of months. So they're basically the same age.

Why does Buffy have to act like a "big sister" first to Kendra and then to Faith? Is this a sign of her "superiority" complex?

Faith can't be older because then she would have been called as The Slayer sooner than Buffy but She was called after Kendra died.

Why would you assume that? Is there a "set" age for any female to become the Slayer? I suspect that Nikki Wood was slightly older than both Buffy and Faith when she was first called.

And as for Kennedys age when she became a slayer, she wasnt chosen because the shadow men wanted her to be. She didnt become a slayer the way all the others before her did, she became a slayer because they decided to change the rule. To do a spell for better protection of the world. And who knows maybe she would have been chosen next, but maybe not. We will never know.

As long as Kennedy was a Potential, she was also affected by the Shadowmen's spell . . . and thus - Chosen. Or else she would have never become a Slayer after Willow had changed the spell.

Yes, but she was a potential for a least 5 years, since Faith was first called. And I never said that she HAD to be younger than Buffy, it was just common, like Kennedy said in season 7, the younger the better. And as for Nikki Wood, we dont know how old she was chosen, or she could have had Robin before she was chosen, we just dont know.

And the biggest case that I can think of when birthdays were changed is in season 1's "I Robot, You Jane" when they show Buffys paperwork like 3 times, and each time its a different date.

But I don't presume to know how old Faith or any of the other slayers are, and I guess we wont know. All we have is our own opinion.

Indeed we don't know for sure. But, we can come to some conclusions reading 'Tales of the Slayers'. Of course, it's all assuming things and putting bits and pieces together.

I don't persume to know anyones age, but there are some clues. You can interpret them however you want to of course. And we do have a big clue about Faith's age, it's not a case of knowing or not knowing. It's a case of whether you accept it or not.

I think Kennedy was at least 18 and she was a potential.

I agree here. Kennedy seemed very old... and even made a remark that she thought it would never be her turn because of her age.

Therefor, this supports the theory that you can never be too old to be a potential. If you think about it, there have been many potentials who were never called and have most likely gone to the grave. Yet, at any point in time, they could've been called. Age really has nothing to do with it.

And to this remark, I say, please go off the year that is one her tombstone. I would think that would be the most accurate.

I agree. But there is still a reason why that particular potential is chosen, isn't? Or do we think that a lot of old potentials where chosen but died quickly..? The potential who is chosen is probably at least one of the best suited at the moment, or..? And that would mean you can sort of be too old, even if it's not as much an age thing as a suitable-thing..
(Sorry, tired thoughts, might just be confused here.)
