I HATE family gatherings. Ok, well, not all family gatherings. It depends. A) who is going to be there, B) what time it is, C) do I want to go or not. Tonight I have to go to my cousins birthday party because she turns 18 and it's some big thing. All my family is going to be there, and they all hate me and have a growing suspicion that I'm gay and always comment about it no matter how many times I tell them I'm not! I SWEAR THEY ARE FREAKING DEATH!!!! I EVEN BROUGHT HOME A GIRLFRIEND AND ONE OF THEM ASKED IF SHE WAS A TRANSEXUAL!!!!! ROAR!!!!! Ok, sorry for the temperary yell. Anyway, all these friends of the family will be there, which will make me feel out of place. Plus my wife beating child abusing hopeless drunk uncle will be there. He likes to make me his personal punching bag. If I don't do something, or even if I talk without his permission sometimes he punches me in the stomach and/or puts me in a head lock. Fun. I'll probably just brood in the shadows... move occasionaly to stretch my legs... jump into the fireplace... stab self... all possibilities. I guess I'll just spend the night away from my real family, my Buffy-Boards family.

What do you think of family gatherings?

I have a drunk, abusive uncle too! It's really cliche, but I do. He drinks a lot and hits on my girlfriend if I have one at the time. Wow ... good times, with Uncle Ronnie. 😉

I hate family gatherings. My family's cool and everything, it's just they tend to get ... well, boring. The most exciting thing our family did one time was watch the ball drop on New Year's Eve ... then everyone went to bed. It wasn't exciting at all. 🙄

I can relate. My grandmother is like an old italian Martha Steward. Everything in her house is PERFECT. She had a stroke when my dog jumped on her couch and got dirt on it, no lie! Their version of being a rebel is eating a cheese steak without a knife and fork lol.

Oh, well, let's hope your grandmother doesn't catch sight of me. I don't tuck in my shirts and, behold the horrors, I sometimes wear sandals. 😱

OMG! You are just like me! LoL. Yesterday at the Christmas dinner thing, I didn't wear any shoes or socks and everyone freaked out! It was like Osama was spotted in my basement or something. I was like "I live here, it's my house, I don't have to wear shoes if I don't want to. We are inside anyway." and then they all yelled at me... again... I hate getting dressed up though. My version of getting dressed up is getting out of my manly smiley face pajama pants in the morning.

Ooh, I have manly square pajama pants! They have squares on them, but I digress.

I like getting dressed up though ... it's like pretend because I know I'm no James Bond. I'm not classy, and I belch a lot. So getting dressed up in a suit and tie is cool for me. At my senior prom, everyone expected me to wear a clown suit or something but I was pretty damn nice looking. And I should've been, cause that suit was pretty damn expensive.

But back to the topic, family gatherings = badness. 🙂

Okay, have fun. Say 'hi' to your transexual girlfriend for me! 😉

man oh man. I'm suprised I'm still alive. Woot. Ok, so, I was just staying in the shadows while everyone went about their business, and my cousin Megan sat next to me and we started talking and somehow we got to the topic of gay people and we both said how we dont have a problem with them. And then my one uncle comes in and he starts going on and on and on about how they should be killed and I just lost it. I was like "why are you so homophibic? They are people to and they have feelings just like everything else. And for the record, you don't look to manly yourself right now with those tight pants and turtle neck sweater" and then he responded with "what? are you gay?" some people are just..... stupid. So then my other uncle comes in and he starts trash talking Megan, who is by now crying and I thought I would just keep quiet. Then my grandmother said how she is worried about him because he is an alcoholic. and he responded with "shut the **** up you stupid bitch! what the **** do you know" and she's his mother! and she's my grandmother. So I lost it again and I was like "you know what? you are a disgusting person. look at the way you talk to your own daughter and your mother. i dont like you. because you treat my cousin like ****, you are **** to me" and he goes "i really dont care what you think of me" and I said "i dont care what you think of me either. go have another beer" and then I left.

Jesus, and I thought my family was hostile. You seriously need a hug ...

I do need a hug. 🙁 ::sighs and looks at the card board Sarah Michelle Gellar:: if only you were real......

Aw! Group hug! *Rocket, Magui, AND the cardboard Sarah Michelle Gellar all run up and hug Parker*

Don't ask us to do that again, we have reputations to maintain. 😉

I have the David Boreanaz cut out and James Marsters cut out. David looks a little sad, and Spike looks like his neck is broken. They need a hug too, but we'll leave that to Magui.

I love family gatherings as long as my step brothers aren't involved since i'm close to killing them both or kicking them out of the house other wise they are fun to see my family that i love 🙂

I luv family gatherings. I did go through an awkward stage when I was younger where I prefered to sit alone in my room and listen to music, but after that I really enjoyed family nights and gatherings very much. In fact I usually prefer to kick it with my family than even most of my good friends.

For the record, Rayne IS part of my family, even if there are no blood ties!

The beauty of not living at home, is the whole, not having to go to family gatherings if you don't want to. My parents split up in 85' so the only close ties I really have with fam, is with my two biological sisters. Dont get me wrong I get along great with my mom dad stepmom and step dad, and all of the halflings. But the family I have really, is the one I have created outside that circle.

I feel for ya Parker, I >AM< gay, and my family has this sneaking suspiction i'm not. I don't really know anyone besides me who is . So I don't really Identify with the lifestyle. And I'm obviously therefore never with gay people, anyway the point is, On those bi-yearly days when I do make it to family gatherings, I have a sense of Humor about it, and it goes pretty good. I find it's better to not take yourself to seriously. Chin up kiddo all these things shall too pass. Sooner or later they will come to grips with you not being gay and love you.(innaproriate Blake humor) 😉

BIG AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! Hugz from Detroit Y'all!!!!!
and if y'all wanna talk or whatever just PM me. Blake hath no friends here 🙁
