I found this on an events site i'm a memeber of and thought that you guys would appreciate this. It seems that some people are campaigning to get Joss his own star on the 'Hollwood Walk of Fame.'

For more info see here

Personally, and i'm probably gonna be the only one that says this, but I don't think Joss has earned a Star...yet.
I'm not saying he should never had one, I just expect a bit more from him before he is 'set in stone'.

Yeah he needs to be big like the luminaries who have preceeded him. He needs to prove he has talent comparable to the giants who have their names cast in the concrete thus far. I think the last ones were the Olsen twins weren't they? 😉

Hey, I'm not saying they deserved one either.
I think a Star on the Walk of Fame is one of the most fitting accolades anyone in the 'Biz' can get, I just believe that it should have a strong criteria.
I don't think Joss should never get one, I just think that he needs to do more OR wait 20 years and truly see if Buffy stands the test of time.
I know its a few years and its still popular and thats a good start, but give it true time to test.

Having been down Hollywood Boulevard and looked down at some of them stars and thought "Who?", I'd have to say that Joss is as deserving as any...

Yeah, but surely that comment alone says less about Joss and more about the billy no marks they place on the walk.

Mr. Pointy

Which just goes to show that there is no "strong criterion", whether we think there shohld be one or not
The Spelling Nazi is very forgiving of drunken typos in Karma comments btw 😉

The Olsen twins have a star already?

Hey, I once appeared on television in a local news report about my school. Surely then I'm qualified for a star too!

As for Joss, Serenity alone qualifies him, in my opinion.

Where as personally, I feel Serenity shouldn't be held against him if he ever was offered.
I don't like that movie at all.

Let Joss make a few more shows and movies first...and see if they're as culturally significant as Buffy. And lets see if he ever gets a show that gets more than 6 million, because I just don't see a guy who had a show on The WB getting a star. But then again I don't know what it takes to get one of those things.

oo SMG... i didnt think about that? I dont think Joss has earned his star just yet, but i believe he is well on the way of earning one.. and i dont think serenity earned him a star! no offence to joss.. i dont know i didnt like serenity.. i could never get into it.. ??? i only bought Serenity and Firefly when i met Summer Glau.. im yet to watch Firefly!! whoops... and as for the Olsen Twins.. i dont know i think they kind of deserve their star as child stars.. but now.. they dont do anything besides their fashion label do they?

i think Joss should definitely be considered for a star in the future...if Buffy and Angel stand the test of time, and WW does well, and he succeeds in whatever else he does in the future.

and if anyone's interested, here's a link to the list of people who already have stars...all 2000+

Walk of Fame

I think its going to be one of those things where people will either say 'he should totally get one' or 'not quite yet'. So i'm not going to argue with what anyone is saying because each to their own.

Looking at that list Lyri is posted and those that have already been given stars, what makes Sandra Bullock or Britney Spears more deserving than Joss?

Personally I don't think its a matter of if he will get one, more of when. And the fact that it was initiated by the fans will probably mean more to Joss than the star itself.

Well, Bruce Willis has one. Good enough for me! 🙂

To answer N4H's question, looks like SMG hasn't been starred yet, but on the plus side, neither has Adam Sandler, so it's not all bad! 😀

i agree with Faith. i think it's a case of WHEN, not if...and yeah, why should the Olsen Twins have a star at the grand old age of 17 when their last few movies went straight to DVD? yeah, i get that they were big child stars and whatever, but i don't think they should be worthy of a star. when you look at that list and see the people on it, maybe they should give Joss a star sooner rather than later.
but do the people who hand out the stars bend to the wishes of the fans?

Probably no more than the various awards do. It always seems that the movies or television shows praised by a few stuffy old critics get all the praise whilst series that deserves recognition (say, for example, Whedon shows) never get noticed, regardless of how much the fans shout.

Well, at least Battlestar got a Peabody. That's a start.

that's exactly what i mean. we can shout and yell as loud as we can for Joss to get a star, like we did with the Emmy's, but no one's gonna take a blind bit of notice.
i think it might take something like WW to bring Joss to the attention of the people who award the stars...assuming it does as good as we're all hoping it will.

I don't know. Maybe it's just because I've never been a DC fan (Batman aside) but this Wonder Woman movie feels to me like it may be more of a career albatross to Joss than a benefit.

The superhero movies seem to be heading toward a peak at the moment. Even X3 didn't do as well as was hoped and movies like Hulk, Fantastic Four and Superman Returns were all considered disappointments by the standards set by the first X-Men and Spidey movies.

Moreso, the only superhero flick so far to feature a female lead, that being Elektra, bombed.

Again, this may be just me being a little sceptical but I get a nasty feeling that Wonder Woman is going to do average numbers at best. Especially if creative control isn't entirely in the hands of Joss. Even then his style may not be fully appreciated by the general public.

Okay, this isn't technically on topic so I'll shut up but all in all I don't think it will be Wonder Woman that gets Joss his star.

Now, Goners may be a different story! 😉

I would like to say a few things.
1) Joss should get one, someday. I just feel that there should be more to getting a star then what he has done already. Thats not saying he hasn't achieved alot, its just The Star should be more a representation of a long term achievement.
2) I don't agree with alot of the people who already have Stars. If it was up to me, some of the people on the list would be concreted over and started again.
3) I see people dissing the 'Olsen Twins' and as much as i'm SO not a fan, you cannot compare them with Joss, and if VH-1 is accurate, i'll tell you why. The Olsens are sitting on a Billion Dollar Business that is rooted in the very heart of Hollywood. Should they have a star at 17? My initial answer would be no, but if you look at their business and work the span span of say 15 Years over someone who started at 25, then they have done an incredible job.
