Favorite character

So I just looked through it, in the Newbies/Lurkers section there is no "favorite character" thread which I thought would be an obvious newbie thread. So here, I'll start.

Nothing and no one could ever touch Spike. Spike is my favorite fictional character of all time, he is the only character that throughout the entire series, I never once disliked him. I disliked things he did... but I never disliked him. As James Marsters put it, "he was the outcast of the outcasts," which is very much what I am.

Actually no, I'm not a Spuffy fan. James Marsters said on his Q&A on his website a while back that Spike deserves better than Buffy. And I TOTALLY agree! Buffy treated him like crap. He deserves someone who loves him as much as he loves her. I wanted Spuffy to work because Spike did... but I wish he'd get over her and move on to someone who really loves him.

Oh, yeah, I think I read that. I do agree that Spike deserves better. Buffy was a total bitca to him. I'm much more of a Spike fan. But when it comes down to war between Bangels and Spuffies, I know which side I'm on. hehe :tongue3: I ship Spuffy, but I'm not a diehard shipper.

How about Spike and Drusilla? What do you think of them? Or Spike and Illyria? Is there anyone on either show you think deserves him? And sorry for bombarding you with questions :embarrassed:

I liked Spike and Dru, but again, she didn't respect him the way he deserved. She was unfaithful. She slept with both Angel and the Immortal. There was nothing to suggest he wasn't faithful all that time.

No, I don't think there was anyone in Buffy or Angel who deserved Spike. But then again, he's on this crazy pedestal that no one could ever touch... so... it's awful hard for someone to deserve him in my mind. How about you?

Buffy/Anya are my favorite characters. Anya is just hilarious and Buffy is a great hero. I like Spike too, but I've always seen him as the love fool.

Oh man it's so hard for me to pic my absolute favorite. But I think it'd have to be Tara. She was just so laid back after she got rid of her social awkwardness and she really grew as a person.

Well, I thought Spike and Dru were cute together, but she really didn't treat him well and took his love and devotion for granted. Also, Drusilla really really irritates me. I know it's Angelus' fault she's crazy, but I just can't stand her!

Yeah, I agree that nobody in either series deserved Spike (everybody treated him so badly!), but I want him to end up with someone. If soulless, I'd choose Drusilla and if ensouled I'd choose Buffy.

Do you read the comics? I'm really interested to see Spike's role in Season 8.

EDIT: Oops. I've taken this thread off topic. hehe. Anyway, getting back on track, my favourite characters (for today. Spike always remains my favourite but the runner-ups seem to change regularly) are:

Buffy is my number one favorite character. 😀 I love everything about her (her bravery, attitude, love for friends and family, leadership, etc). I love even her faults because I personally don't like perfect heroes. I root for them even more and want them to succeed when they may do things not necessarily in their nature. It makes the character that much more relatable, at least in my eyes.

Spike comes in a close second as my favorite character. I love his complexity, his journey to become a better man, and the fact that he is different from all the other vampires. Yet, although he may not deserve Buffy but someone better, I'm a diehard Spuffy shipper 😀 I think by the end, he definitely deserved her and she deserved him. 🙂

I really can't rank the rest of my favorites characters because I love them all for different reasons. Except Riley and Parker, lol!

I really can't tell you why these characters are my favorites... I just always enjoy watching them most on my screen and I'm always interesting their journeys. Other characters captivate my interest a lot less and sometimes I could care less about their journey. One thing that really makes a character stand out is if they have flaws and inner demons they have to overcome. They aren't perfect but they try to be in the world anyway and even though they sometimes fail, they keep going.

My all time favorite characters are Connor and Faith. It seems funny to me sometimes cause Connor seems like the most hated character ever haha. And Faith I've always liked. She had a spark, something that made her incredibly interesting. When she went evil for a short spell, I could see her innocence in it and it made a great full circle journey when she sought redemption with Angel's help. A perfect new show would feature these characters IMO.

Faith because she's a dynamic character who brings life to any scene she's in; she's awesome when she's bad, even more awesome when she's good, and she made S7 bearable.

Willow because she's my probably my favorite T.V. character ever: a short post could not fully encapsulate how much I enjoy Willow's character.

My number one is Spike for boys and for girls I think at this moment it is Willow. But on the show Angel it is Angel and Cordy I think they evolved so much there.
I have always loved all of those and well Spike he just brings so much to the show and Willow without them I hate to say it but I don't want to think of how it would have been.

Buffy is my ultimate favorite character. As for the others? It's so hard, I don't dislike many of them, thus, why I love the show so much LOL! I love both Spike & Angel for different reasons, adore Cordy, Oz and Faith and Anya. Willow & Xander are so essential, but I probably like them less than some other fans (does not mean I dislike them, though). Love Giles, too. I don't really like Connor, I just felt like his character & story were "unfinished" in a way. I haven't finished catching up on S8, so I'm looking forward to how he develops. I really disliked Parker & Scott Hope. I don't hate Riley as much as others do, just don't think he & Buffy "belong" together.

And as to whether I'm a Bangel or Spuffy? I really like the Spuffy storyline, love Spike, but I do feel like Angel & Buffy are soulmates/true loves. Doesn't mean I think that they will end up together. So, I guess that makes me a Bangel, but I'm not anti-Spuffy at all.

My number one favorite will always be Angel, has been since "Welcome to Hellmouth" when he and Buffy met in an alley way for the first time. If I had to pick a second it would have to be Spike, he became one of my favorites in the episode "Passion" with the quote "No going into the ring unless you're tagged first" and my third would be Cordelia. No real explanation needed for her.
