I don't know what happened with Willow...she used to be my favourite...then Tara and Faith came...but still! I don't know...I guess she annoyed me a little too much in season 6 with her arrogance, I stopped trusting her the way I did when she violated Tara's mind...and now that I don't love Alyson as much as I used to, it doesn't help...I wish I loved her more but I don't 🙁 Maybe it'll change again!

Cordelia Chase, I loved watching her journey from superficial to becoming one of the strongest characters in the Buffyverse. Charisma Carpenter is such a beautiful, talented and funny actress, it's impossible for me to not say she's my favorite.

Oh boy. I completely love Wesley. And Spike, and I love Illyria a lot. She's so badass. I love S5 Connor and I love Anya and Tara and Oz.

Although I love pretty much everyone good (minus Kennedy) Wesley, Spike, Connor, and Oz are my favorite *guys* and Illyria, Anya and my favorite *girls*
 
Spike! I don't know if that's obvious from my banner of anything . . .

He's just one of the most interesting and well developed characters I've come across and I come across a lot of characters. Literally. I read approximately 70 books a year and get into a lot of television series.

And Spike is still one of my favorite characters of all time.
 
Yes, spike is definitely one of the most intriguing and multi layered characters I've ever come across as well. I feel like every time I watch buffy I get a deeper appreciation for each of the main characters.

Giles is pretty much my favorite character in all of fiction. After him, there are so many enjoyable characters, including Willow, Xander, Anya, and Tara. Oddly enough, Buffy never makes my list of favorite characters and I really can't figure out why.
 
Ok. I'm still very serious about my Spike love.

But I'm really really liking Buffy in a way that I never have before. Especially in season 7. She is a master at managing chaos. I admire that.

And she's so physically strong, in ways that we can never be, but still so emotionally vulnerable, which is something a lot of women can relate to.

Yeah. New appreciation and love.

So now it goes,

Xander. Like that's a big surprise. It will always be Xander. No character has ever captured me the way Xander does.
 
Buffy! You know how Xander tells her that when he's nit sure what to do he thinks "what would buffy do?". I do that too. She's my role model.
 
Giles all the way. He is just amazing and awesome. It's close with everyone else being awesome too, but Giles stands out to me in particular. Maybe it's my daddy issues. I love his father/daughter relationship with Buffy. And I love his bumbling Britishness and sense of humour. And he's really sexy too, so that helps. xD
 
I don't think I've already posted in this thread...

Anya used to be my favourite. She was actually my favourite for years, but that was before I actually watched all 7 seasons of Buffy. After I saw Anya go all evil and kill people, and saw the way she acted when they were trapped in Buffy's house, I just lost some respect for her. I still think she's adorable and amusing and hilarious, but she's not my favourite anymore.

Tara is now my favourite. 🙂 I can just relate to her more, because I used to be (and sometimes still am) really shy and awkward. I loved her development throughout the series, and she seemed to be the only normal character in the group. She may have not been a very big character and people barely even noticed her, but I always noticed her. It was heartbreaking to see her die. 🙁
 
1. Willow: Her characterization definitely suffered in S6-7 but she remains one of my favorite characters of all time. No other character can cheer me up with gleeful, bubbly joy and then turn around break my heart with her angst. Plus, I just adore what a smart self-starter she is. She learns how to hack and decrypt discs, do magic, program robots and become a robot with little to no guidance- just pure Will-Power.

2. Xander: He puts aside all of the bullshit from soulmatey love to power tripping to focus on being the best he can be in life and the fight against evil, all with no powers. That means a ton to me.

3. Buffy: The martyr and vampire complex seen since S2 puts Buffy below her best friends but other than that, Buffy rocks. I adore the fierce warrior, petulant teen, valley girl, etc. At her best, she's possibly the most appealing Epic Hero ever because she brings the concept down the earth and makes it an emotional experience like no other.

4. Giles: He'd be higher if he was a little less Buffy-centered and focused more on mentoring and befriending Willow/Xander/Faith but I still think he's incredibly special. He's amazing as a repository of knowledge and wisdom and a dispenser of some of the most elegant British snark ever seen on TV.

I'm a Core Four-centered viewer so they're by far my faves. Although, I give honorable mentions to Cordelia and Oz. You make think that Cordy and Oz were very different but they did have stuff in common- being hilarious, looking attractive, having a colorful, if shallow, outer life that it brought dimension to the insular Scooby gang and in their relationships with Xander and Willow, having the two most equal-in-power relationships on the show. Which is great because the power disparity in the other relationships could be interesting or just plain annoying but often made me uncomfortable for a supposed feminist show.
