Favorite Non-OMWF musical?

OMG, I soo forgot I like GREASE! But that'll just be it, must musicals are soooo goodie-goodie-good ... especially Sound of Music (which I think is the worst movie ever)!

I forgot all about "Mary Poppins" - what a sweet film that was. I loved it when I was a kid - despite Dick van Dyke's accent 😉

LOL...never thought about Mary Poppins from a British point of view. I always though Dick van Dyke's accent was the funniest thing about the movie, but I'm guessing that to the native ear it's pretty mangled.
Kinda like a Spice Girl trying to do a Texas drawl? 🙂

I still like watching "Funny Girl" whenever it is on TV.

La Streisand at her best, voice and comedy. A classic and sometimes forgotten, but still there!

Has anybody seen the movie called Happy Family of the Katasomething or another's. Its a Japanese film (I think) it is a dark comedy/musical. Fun movie-but ultra funky.

Interesting, Chasity. You remember the full title? Sounds like something I might want to track down a copy of.

i haven't seen any musical live that i can remember, i've seen plays not musicals:9 but a sorta musical on film that i like was The Little Princess (1939) with Shirley Temple... and i liked sound of music, and annie get your gun(well a bit) and annie is sweet!

i don't know if this countsthough 🙂

Shell: That movie was so weird, huh? I liked it too, but not what I expected.

LD: This was a pretty cool thread. Good idea.

Have to say, for the most part, i hate Musicals, i did of coarse like OMWF though. Probably because the way Joss does things, the singing had a purpose. The exposition of things was actually IN the song. Not like in other musicals where something happens, and then everybody sings about it.

Anyway, Disney movies count, right? I like to watch disney movies (i try to find the easter eggs), other than that, i think the only one i like is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

lol! I didn't even think of The Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was in here earlier trying to think of a musical I liked. Thats a pretty funny one, but I think I like the Sound of Music the best. I haven't watched it sense I was little though... so you know I've kind of forgotten most of it. I was forced to watch Guys and Dolls this summer and it was pretty good as well, but not really my type of movie.
