Favorite Ships (Whedonverse and beyond)

I know this ship is very popular and I watched the first season of VM, but... The last episodes of the season were kind of terrible. Veronica accused everyone she knew of murder and rape, forgave Logan but then ran out of his house because of the hidden camera 🙄 (she spies on people without remorse, but doesn't let Logan explain himself), then she accused him of murdering Lilly without really interrogating him and with minimal evidence... In the first episode of s2 they were together for some reason (the guy doesn't have a lot of pride when it comes to Veronica) but we find out she's dating Duncan again?! What is with that show? And why is Veronica a special snowflake who's forgiven for everything? She assumes that she cared the most about a bff she had for a year and had the right to judge and sentence whomever she wanted! She's so vindictive and false, and she uses people. I'm finding it very hard to understand why people like Veronica and the LoVe ship. Since you've seen all of VM, maybe you can explain 😉

This is why I added the ring their necks part, I was referring to Veronica (mostly) and Logan (somewhat) lol. I never really want to do that to Buffy or Angel. I think their decision making process is better and even though he is a vampire and she is a slayer their relationship was much healthier than LoVe's lol.

So I definitely get frustrated with Veronica and how she accuses Logan of everything under the sun before letting him explain. But, I think she does this because she forgave him to quickly for the GHB thing at the party. I mean I know why she did, it's not like he raped her or had any intentions to rape anyone. He intended on taking it himself, and he was honest to her about being the one that had it there. But, I think maybe they should have talked it out more. The fact that he had it on him and how bad he had treated her that season already caused for mistrust and tension. I think this is why she was always so quick to jump to conclusions with him. It wasn't fair, and 9/10 times I was on Logan's side, but I still understood where she was coming from. But the camera was the most ridiculous out of all of it. She should have just asked. That was blatantly stupid. I think she has this idea that everyone in the world is out to screw you so she is very suspicious of everyone around her partly by her own experiences and partly because of others since she is always tailing cheating husbands, murderers, thieves, etc.
I think she went back to piece of toast boring Duncan because she wanted some calm in her life. She wanted to believe she could do the normal girl thing again and wanted her old life back. I don't think she was in love with him the second time around. I think it was her way of trying to escape Logan (the one she actually loved.) She knew since she didn't really love Duncan, she couldn't get her heart broken. But with Logan she could. I think the movie really brings that idea full circle but with another vanilla boring character of Piz.
In s3 you get to actually see LoVe as a real couple. Even though they were dysfunctional, their connection was undeniable. I just enjoyed watching these two broken souls find comfort and love in each other. But their own brokenness kept tearing them apart and causing them even more heartache. It's kind of like they may have been better off with more stable companions, but they were never going to love them the way they loved each other.

Idk if that helped at all 🙄

It did. Thanks! The way people talk about LoVe and Veronica Mars herself, you'd think they're perfect. I was a bit confused by how terrible they could be and how vindictive and shitty Veronica could be to those she supposedly cared about. I thought Veronica/Logan would be more like Bangel, because the people I know who ship it, also ship Bangel. I was surprised to find something closer to Spuffy (sorry!). Okay, but now that I know that the fandom also acknowledges this, I think I'm going to give the show another try. I was just so annoyed with the final episode of s1. It was rushed and predictable and just so inferior to the previous episode!

Yay, I'm glad you are going to give it another shot! LoVe might not be your cup of tea, but there are plenty aspects to the show you might find more enjoyable. Idk if the entire fandom acknowledges their many flaws because not many sites still discuss VM (which makes me very sad!) But I most definitely try to acknowledge flaws in any couple that I ship.
Yeah I would say:
Duncan= Angel
Logan= Spike
Piz= Riley
But none of these are really fair considering I find Duncan and Piz very one note, while Angel is extremely layered and even Riley is more interesting than Duncan and Piz put together. And Logan and Spike may both be witty, but I think they treat our protagonist far differently. I'm 100% LoVe, but like 0.001% Spuffy lol. I give it a 0.001% because I did like them as frenemies.

Well, as I understand it, an OTP is two people you want to be endgame, no ending up with other people, right? Then, this should be a short list, lol 😀

  • Jessica Day and Nick Miller (New Girl)
  • Robin Scherbatsky and Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother)
Welp, there you go. The only 2 couples out there that I will heatedly argue about who they belong with 😀

Whoops, thought of a few more, lol
  • Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls (Veronica Mars)
  • Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt (Charmed)

Whedonverse:

Spuffy
Willow and Tara
Xander and Andrew

Others:
Leo and Piper (Charmed)
Rachel and Ross (friends)
Joey and Phoebe (friends)
Hazel and Augustus (the fault in our stars)

Buffy/Angel
Ross/Rachel
Big/Carrie

These are the only ones I ever really cared about. Not that much of a shipper actually. But I feel VERY strongly about these three 🙂

Lily and Marshall (my goals)
Barney and Robin
Ted and Tracy
Willow and Tara
Wesley and Fred
Buffy and Spike
Sherlock and Moriarty
Lexa and Clarke (the 100)
Patrick and Kat (10 things I hate about you)
Ellie and Carl (Up)
Ben and Lesley (Parks and Rec)
April and Andy (Parks and Rec)

Sherlock and John (wonder what the reaction would have been if it was Sherlock breaking down in John's arms, the fandom seriously hated S4, and low reviews in general, I think the full circle effect would have been achieved with Sherlock displaying unprecedented intimacy, otherwise its just John crying over a much disliked character)
Mulder and Scully (dead set against it as a silly child now I have a appreciation for friends "it was here the whole time")
Cherik (Charles/Erik/Magneto)
Pam and Jim from The Office
