NOT just Buffy, but in fiction overall. Can be pairings you would have liked, or canon ones.
I'm going to say.
Favourite wholesome ships.
Sammy and Yaz from Camp Cretaceous: (NOTHING will ever top them in terms of adorableness. Sammy is just loveliness personified and her helping Yaz break out of her shell warmed my heart and made me cry.)
Fry and Leela. Whilst they definitely went back and forth a bit too much and The Late Philip J Fry completely ****ed up the relationship. Overall these two have an extremely touching love story and Fry's love for Leela is one of the most heart warming and genuine in any tv show. My favourite moments have to be My Three Suns when she bails him out again LOL, The Sting when he saves her from the hallucination, and finally when he accepts her when she becomes the Octopus lady. Fry is the best role model any young man can ever have in the Sting and Octopus episodes. It's no wonder he is one of the most popular leading characters. Seriously the likes of Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin, Rick Sanchez all have quite a large amount of haters, but not Fry.
Favourite dysfunctional ships:
Jerry and Beth from Rick and Morty: They are HORRIBLE together but that's what makes it so funny. My favourite episodes are when we see their images of each other and she views him as a pathetic, cowardly worm and when blim, blam a hideous evil baby killer gets fed up of their bitching and chews them out in the most epic way possible. I nearly died at that.
Al and Peggy Bundy: Second one for Katey Sagal. Nothing can top their insults.
Peggy/ Al you ruined my day.
Al/ Well Peg it's your own fault, stop asking me if you look old in the morning
Favourite unexpected ship
Butch and Tabetha from Gotham: Tabetha is seriously gorgeous and a total dominatrix. She and Butch get together after she basically tortures him LOL, but what I love even more about it is that after that it's an incredibly sweet pairing as well. Butch is such a laid back guy he doesn't mind she tortured him and gets over it pretty quickly. Afterwards Butch honestly reaches Fry levels of how much he genuinely likes her. I'm pissed at how it ended, even if that was an absolute peak moment for the best version of the Penguin there's ever been.
Favourite crossover ships
None of these happened but I'd like to see them happen.
Alti from Xena and the Master from Classic Who: I can't stress this enough CLASSIC WHO, not those cheap Joker/River Song knock offs from new who. The Master from this series and Alti are basically the same villain. Both outcasts from an organisation the hero worked for (Amazons/Time Lords.) Both manipulative, suave villains, both knew the hero before the series began and wanted the hero to help them, but grow to despise them. Both have crazy mental powers, both regularly die only to always come back, and in both cases the resurrection goes wrong and they both come back as living skeletons. Both are obsessed with power and seek to gain it by spreading chaos (as the Master can take over in the aftermath, whilst Alti gets stronger the more chaos there is.) Both are even introduced later than the other iconic villains, both travel in time etc.
Her actress Claire Stansfield and the last Classic Who Master, Eric Roberts even played lovers and had a love scene together too. For me the New Who Master is the lovechild of the Master and Alti, not the original.
Carnage and Callisto from Xena: Again not legit, but much like the Master and Alti these two are pretty much the same character. Both driven mad due to tragedies in their childhood, both are presented as wastes of a human life as we don't know if without that they could have been normal. Both cackling, child like psychopaths who were based on the Joker. Both promote a nihlistic ideology where nothing matters and claim to not care about life, yet both are miserable cowards when they face death. Both also got ensnared by a dark power that wanted to break its way into our reality and became its servant.
Honestly if either went on tinder then they'd be matched with each other.
Favourite weird ship.
Barry Allen and Kirsten Kramer from the Flash: Again this obviously isn't legit and I'm not saying I would have wanted it actually go that way, but I liked their chemistry, she became a really cool character in S8 and 9 and I quite like a guy in his 30s with a woman in her 50s. I think it's quite sweet. Always liked older women myself.
The episode that was just him and her in s8 was my favourite that year, though a big part of that was Goldface who was a ****ing hilarious bad guy. Even his name was brilliantly stupid.
Still what are your axes to grind?
I'm going to say.
