OK, Mr. Pointy got me thinking historically"”sorta, heh. Maybe you've done this one before. What's the very first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater? I sorta remember being taken to "Escape to Witch Mountain". Don't remember the plot, but it had psychic kids and UFOs, and Eddie Albert.

The first movie outing I can recall instigating was going to see the original Star Wars. Saw the giant ad for it in the paper, and I begged my sisters to take me and they finally gave in. We all loved it of course...

I remember my dad taking us all to a drive-in to see Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The first in a cinema I remember is Watership Down, so sad at the time. Not sure which of those came out first...

I remember that my father took me to see the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast", I remember thinking it was really scary, heh. And I also remember going to the swedish movie "Den ofrivillige golfaren" ("The Involuntary Golfer") and not understanding anything.

i think the first thing i saw in the movies was the re-release of Snow White, which i think was late '80s or early '90s. i know that i was no more than 5 or 6 at the time, cause me and my friend were terrified by the Queen and we hid on the floor behind the seats!! lol!

i don't know if it was really the first I saw, but the first movie I remember seeing in the movie theater was lost boys...1987, so i was 5...my mom was so mad at my dad for taking me and my sister, so i guess it has always been vampires for me!

The first movie I can remember seeing in the theater was Star Wars, at the drive-in. Loved it, of course. That movie, and a couple Ray Bradbury/Isaac Asimov novels, sparked my life-long love of sci-fi.

I think the first movie I saw must have been some Disney movie.. Don't remember which one.. But then again, my parents worked at a cinema when I was born so it's possible that I saw Stop Making Sense or something like that 😀

This is much harder than the historical question.

I think the first one I can remember is "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" Either that or a Disney movie, which would've probably been like "The Little Mermaid"

Good thread...you know, I'm so ancient that I really can't remember the first film I saw at the cinema but I do remember seeing James Bond films shown in the function room at the Alcester Trades and Labour Club. Alcester didn't have (and still doesn't) a cinema in the 60s, so I guess they must count as my first movie experience.

Oh my, this is gonna be embarrassing, but maybe I'll be lucky enough that nobody remembers this flick.

For my first ever movie, I was taken to see a cutesy little film called "Benji". Ugh! So saccharine and sweet...I'm getting a cavity just thinking about it. I think it was a Disney flick, don't remember.

I think that actually has a good rep as a solid family film. I know I must have seen at least one of those Benji flicks. Don't know how many there were...

First Movie I can remember going to see was 101 Dalmations. I was really scared when we saw it as I thought that Cruella Deville was a real person! So sad! But I was about 6 or 7.
