First Post Pandemic Plans

@Hunga Munga - D'you reckon? It's a maximum of £10 and it's only Monday to Weds plus it doesn't include alcohol. I'm guessing there'll be a slight increase in prices so the the owners increase their profit margin (which I don't begrudge the independents) and the customer won't see the full saving. I'll be honest, I'm not in a rush to go for a meal at the beginning of the week unless it's a special occasion. I can save almost that much on early-bird offers. Hasn't he also dropped VAT in restaurants for 6 months? At 20% it was twice what it is in France and Spain.

My partner and I have discussed visiting Scotland and Ireland...and we've talked about (not yet decided) going the next St. Patrick's parade because after it has been cancelled, the first parade to happen (assuming there aren't a lot of rules in place like social distancing, masks, etc--but if that's the case we probably couldn't visit anyway) is probably going to be the biggest of the century (and likely good deals by people trying to jump start the tourist industry again), and that could be fun to see.

Other than that...my income, while not suffering too much, has become too unpredictable because the "reopening" is too schizophrenic around here with constant rush orders to then cancellations (and then there's the limited public transportation and other complicating factors, my last delivery got rescheduled because of street violence going on with emergency vehicles around and the guy shut down his shop for the day), and I also got some new clients (and planning on getting more) but I won't really know if I'll want to work with them until I do in ordinary circumstances.

In theory we're reopened with just masks and social distancing highly encouraged (required in some places) but in actuality it's still pretty much shut down, especially if you don't have a car like me (thus, practically speaking, barred by businesses that operate only through window). It's the primary reason why I'm still a frequent visitor here as I suddenly find myself with a lot of unexpected free time and/or I'm constantly waiting for the phone to ring so I can do the next thing I need to do. I look forward to the situation stabilizing (which will also help with the plans to visit Scotland and Ireland).

What I most miss is the entertainment gigs for children birthday parties...as I'm one of the few who has stuck around, the owner is actually insinuating she might make me more than an entertainer if I keep sticking with her, though I don't know if she's just desperate to have workers once that business gets started again (assuming it ever does...) so that she's trying to keep us from abandoning her sinking ship. But I've done similar things for free and it's my favorite job, plus one that pays well (if not often), so if and when it starts up again, I'll be there, and very excited.

It sounds mundane.... but I just bought a house and I just want to bring in tradespeople! I want new carpets! I want my tiling and decorating done! And then I want a holiday away from the house I just bought, because I've been stuck in it since March! 😂

We haven't really had a lockdown, but I'd love to go on a trip somewhere, anywhere else, because if I have to continue to stare at the walls of my apartment... more than my avatar will turn into Drusilla.

I already did most of my post-lockdown plans and met up with pretty much everyone I have wanted to meet up with, more than once.

I am an introvert so I don't really seek out mass gathering, I don't miss them.

However, removing a lockdown too early and too quickly has it's price, and we're paying it here big time...

Live music. God knows when that'll be allowed to start up again and more importantly when it'll be safe and fun to attend.

Good point! I was supposed to see Hayao Miyazaki live in concert in September but it's been postponed to next September now.... even then I worry about being in close proximity to other people.

I'm not even sure how many I've got on hold at the moment. Elton John has just pushed his December gig back to November next year. That along with Slam Dunk Festival and the Hella Mega tour are the biggest off the top of my head.

So am I. I can be very chatty when the mood strikes, but basically, I'm far too empathic to be around large groups of people for very long. It's very distracting to pick up on others' energy....I wish I WEREN'T so observant.

I much prefer to be alone. I would be perfectly content to NEVER see another human being in person again. Well, except for occasional sexy times. 😂

I’ve a concert to go to in October and really hope it’ll be cool, but I’m expecting it to be canceled.
