No one's hating on you, lol, like you said, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and what they think is the 'real' version of vampires.
Twilight didn't exactly create anything magical and life changing with it's version of vampires, I mean, hello? Sparkling vamps? Really?! But there are other people who are thinking the same thing about Joss' vampires. I remember when I first watched the show, I was annoyed that vampires were walking around during the day, and they didn't sleep in coffins, and their faces changed when they fed, and they showed up on film, and they could enter churches and all the other stuff Joss created for his show, because up until then, the only introduction I had to vampires was Dracula and Lestat. But I learned to love the series for what it was, a new interpretation of the mythology of vampires.
I will agree that I think Joss' idea of vampires is one of the best out there, but I'm also a huge fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's vampires, who literally die when the sun rises, their bodies cease to 'live' and to kill a vampire, you have to drive a stake through their heart, or blow it away with a high powered gun, cut off their head, burn the remains, and scatter the ashes over a running river. Everyone has a different idea as to what a vampire should be.
