Gellar: Why I quit

belts only hold up pants...if she knew her tae kwan do she would use sophia crawford less...every shot that needs a good looking kick or punch needs that amazing stunt woman...and thats no even taking to acount the flips and special choreography needed...

anyways...if she really knew her stuff...she wouldn't look almost anorexic and shit...she'd at least have some muscles...

Soulgasm-get reall she is the same weight as almost any actress 75% of wemon look sick now adays. if you dont like the way i write then you can re-write it for me because i am content with it. out of coriousity do you ever have anything nice to say? you know it is possable to be argumenative without being insaulting!

Buffy-sorry if i offended your taste i was only trying to make a point to soulgasm

thanks for using sentances bub...i can finally understand what you are typing

you make the claim that she is the same as most the actresses in hollywood...i agree...

but...if she wants to be a female rambo....she has to have more muscle than the average actress...

i mean slyvester, arnold, jean claude all were way more muscular than your average character actor...

put it this way...when angelina jolie did tomb raider...she did ALL of her own stunts...can sarah even say that for ONE episode of buffy??

Look at the time restrictions on Buffy, not to mention that they simply can't put things on hold if any of the lead actors got hurt, which is why they all have stunt doubles, just as Eliza Dushku, David Boreanaz et al have.Tomb Raider was what, an hour and a half long, and took months to complete. An hour episode of Buffy is completed in a week; David Boreanaz and SMG have both said that they wanted ot perform a certain number of their stunts, but are held back by officials, because the show cannot afford them to get hurt and be ou of action for a couple of weeks. Angel season 1, where Angel saves the actress Raven from being run over, has to jump up over a car, run across the street, and pull her out the way of a moving car. Mike Massa was supposed to perform the stunt, and David pulled him aside at the last minute to do it himself. The director let the scene complete, and then pulled David aside for an hour long ear bashing, because the stunt doubles are there to keep the star safe as much as provide the fast paced fight scenes.

She doesn't want to be a female rambo, I would assume, else yes she would be Mrs. Muscle, and secondly, she would be having roles other than Buffy, where she plays a normal girl, but with these supernatural powers and responsibilities-the main theme and moral of the story relates to this "normal teenage girl" theme

Oh and by the way, Sophia Crawford left on the 100th episode, at the end of season 5, so she doesn't have much to do with it now anyway 🙂

wow...that was like allot of information....about david...

lemme ask ya this horny girl...why does she do movies like scooby doo...movies that do NOTHING to improve her situation

wouldn't it be in her best interest to do drama oriented acting?

and don't give me this crap about her busy schedule...cause some how she finds the time to shoot kid flicks...

and have you seen tomb raider...the stunts in that movie are so much more dangerous....what if angelina got hurt....allot more money and time is riding on a movie than a upn show that has no funding when compared to blockbuster hollywood movies or even bad ass shows like Alias...

As far as I'm concerned, I don't really care about Sarah's personal life or her career. She is largely responsible for making Buffy such a great character through her acting (and possibly even through her some of her own personality and ideas), and that's all I could ever ask her for. No matter how much I disagree (or agree) with things she's said, I will always respect her and be indescribably grateful for the seven years of her life that she has devoted to Buffy. Besides that, I think she should do whatever makes her happiest. If that happens to be doing indie movies, great, but if making the Scooby Doo movies with her husband is what she honestly enjoys, then I see no problem with it.

oh come on you have to admit that half of buffys charm to most viewers is because she is small and cute and then kicks ass. I personaly dont care the fighting and stunts isnt what I watch the show for.

I watch it for the romance but mostly for the mystery of it to me its a game I try to figure it all out befor it happens and then see if Im right. If im not right then next time i try harder to figure out the clues

I do think though that the way the stunts and fighting are done look perfectly fine to me. I think that with all aspects of the show taken into account that the show is wicked

can someone on my level please argue against me??
i'm tired of dirshin yall

I think there is more going on than she let's on

I don't really know why SMG is quitting the show, but I don't think it's exactly for the kind of reasons she is leaving as qouted at the beginning of this thread. I just read this over at scifi.com, it's something that her husband said.

"Freddie Prinze Jr. told the Zap2it Web site that he and his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, will head to Vancouver, B.C., to begin shooting the Scooby-Doo sequel as soon as Gellar wraps production on Buffy the Vampire Slayer later this month. UPN's Buffy is winding up a seven-year run.

"A lot of people owe Sarah a lot for doing that show," Prinze told the site. "And she doesn't always get the credit she deserves. She's a very strong woman, because she deals with a lot of nonsense, and instead of that nonsense, she should be thanked. And she's not. That's the reason she won't be coming back."

Prinze added, "Sarah's the most appreciative person in the world, and if that environment would have remained the way it [was] six years ago, she would go back, because she's loyal. But things change, and people's egos get in the way sometimes. They make poor decisions."
"

Clearly her reasons for leaving aren't positive ones, according to her husband she wouldn't even be leaving the show if not for how she's been treated.

Why she really quit

I just read this over at scifi.com about why SMG is leaving the show. Apparently she's been mistreated somehow or the environment or something isn't appreciative of her like it was in the beginning of the show (I guess in the studio or by the creators). This was stated by her husband on the site when he was interviewed about plans for the new scoobie movie. The article was published on the site just yesterday.

Since she's leaving because of the environment I feel angry becuase I really like this show and knowing that it didn't have to end bothers me 🙁 (not angry at SMG, but whatever it was that made her feel jilted enough to stop doing the show).

I think that explains a lot, and which case I feel very sorry, and hope that it is simply the "fans" that have caused problems, and not anything within the show.

Oh c'mon, it's clearly something within the show, if you would have read some of the other articles, you could read between the lines, that there has been some tension going on on the set.

And it indicates Joss and Sarah disagreeing on the storyline, and here we return to a point where we've been before, we're going to have to pick between the two of them!

It's a shame but that's life!!:: teeth :

I'm just grateful we've had seven good years!!::wave::

Willow is right about the stunt stuff. Just to give an example.

In Star Trek:The Next Generation ep. "Power Play", during a relatively simple shot, the actress that plays the ships counselor "Deanna Troi" cracked her tail bone.

The scene was with three other actors on a planet's surface. An energy storm was approaching them and they had to transport out before it got to them. Some kind of energy bolt strikes near them and the actors were supposed to fall backwards like the blast threw them off their feet.

Well, she landed slightly wrong ( they used it for the episode because it looked right anyway). But she said that the moment she hit the ground she heard a crack sound and felt it too. She said it was painful, I don't think she could even walk for awhile.

Even really simple stunts can lead to putting an actor out of workable condition (like that one!). What if an actor twists an ankle? Or slips and throws his or her back out of whack? Or chips/breaks a tooth from chomping down during an action shot?

All kinds of things can happen!

Even stunt men/women hurt themselves and they are professionals at it.

Thankyou for that post, somebody with a shred of respect. Sarah is a human being; she's been playing a role for nearly 8 years and its produced 7 seasons of a really brilliant show. She's married; she has a husband who no doubt she would like to spend time with and a whole life of her own. Who are any of you to say how she should spend her life, and don't give the "because we're the fans". If roles were reversed and you wanted out"¦due to whatever reasons then I don't expect you would appreciate so called fans slating you.

She's been there for nearly a decade, perhaps she wants to pursue a movie career, concentrate on her family or just try something new. It's her life and I say good luck to her in whatever she chooses to do. She's been loyal to the Buffy fans all this time and she's what made Buffy (obviously joss MADE Buffy but you know what I mean). All I would say is thanks to her for giving me a decent show to watch every Thursday night, which also resulted in a credible spin off as well.

Well done Sarah I hope she's proud of what she's accomplished and has a nice life. The show finishes on a high note IMO, season 6 was pretty shitty but season 7 has made up for it. I'd rather that than it drag out and everything credible that it took 7seasons to really make be completely lost. Seriously put things in perspective, it's a TV Show we all have lives so do the actors amazingly.

Dame I like the way most of you think its nice to know that there are more fans who feels this way

soulgasm-you need to to get a better veiw of things just because some of us feel differently then you dosnt mean you are any smarter or more informed then any of us infact i would say you are are less then that of which we are because you dont allow yourself the time to think of what others have said therefor leaving you with less knowledge then us

i have tried to be nice but you have insaulted me on a few ocations if you want to be rude and high on your self fine so be it you insault my opinions so fine i will give you my honest opinion of yours

i dont think you believe 80% of the crap you write you are only writting it either because you are simply an extremely argumenative person or you are just to childish to respect the opinions of others so stuff a sock in it because i have grown tierd of it and im sure that im not the only one
