Am still on season 7 and boy when you think Chris can't get any lower, he goes and tops himself at in the hospital scene🙄 The whole episode at the hospital aside though was really great.

I enjoyed when Paris interjected with Rory and Lucy. That was classic Paris😀

Yea, Chris gets really bad in season 7. I actually liked him in the beginning just dating Lorelai, but once they get married is downhill. He's so jealous, it's gross.

I love Paris talking to Lucy! It's great to see how much she values Rory's friendship.

I'm actually not as tough on season 7 these days. I think in the second half (around the hospital episode) things pick up. Perhaps it was the transition of getting used to the Palladinos not being there. It's not a fav, but it's not quite as bad as I remembered.

Chris really does become a petty child in that season, it's a shame because they really push him and Lorelai to get together and then they really push to break them apart. All in the same season. 🙄 And so to not make Lorelai the bad guy they make Chris this petulant, jealous man-child. I know he's been a 'dead beat' in earlier seasons, but personally I don't feel it suggested he was this controlling and manipulative. I don't really hate the season though, it's just a bit "off" in feeling and tone.

Yeah I got that instantly, as if the whole place felt different without Amy Sherman-Palladino. I've always wondered what she would have done with the season though had she been in charge?

Well I thought that but if it were to go on for more seasons maybe she would have stretched it out a little. We know she always wanted to end it how she ended AYITL, but I read somewhere that they'd planned more seasons than seven....

Also, Lane is definitely the best most underutilised character. I love Lane so much. I feel like her story totally underserved her.

Lane definitely should have gotten to do more than just become a small town mom with a band going nowhere. I bet in your head Dave comes swooping in at some point and carries her off into the more adventurous sunset 😛

Rory and Logan in Palladino's season 7

I think we would have gotten to see Logan pick his family over Rory and get engaged to that other girl. Just like Chris was willing (in flashbacks) to get married to Lorelai, I think Logan would have caved to his family pressure in the end, unlike season 5 when he stands up for her. I think she was very into the idea of mirroring Lorelai's and Rory's love lives like that, so I definitely don't think she approved of Logan proposing to Rory, especially judging by the AYITL when he's clearly not about to leave his fiancé for her..

Funny how much of a 180 they do with Chris. When Lorelai went to the hospital earlier in the Season it barely registered with him and he was fine. And suddenly he is this insanely jealous douche.

Lane definitely should have gotten to do more than just become a small town mom with a band going nowhere.

Lane worked so hard to achieve her goals and all with very little. An over-controlling mother who didn't approve and no money. Rory had a mother that gave her freedom and grandparents who showered her in money. And then Lane ends up pregnant and it's all over. So freaking unfair to the character.

With Lane it seems like because she didn't go down the higher education route then the writers ran out of ideas of how to advance her so just went for the cheap married with kids plot. I don't know why they couldn't have carried her on down the band route and made her have big success. I was certainly convinced that she was a talented drummer. I like Zach's growth, but yeah its a shame that they dropped the ball with Lane.

No, but there's a lot of different things they could have done with Lane. They could have had her gone to music school, or they could have had her study something else and still do the music thing on the side. One of the best things about her is the relationship with her Mum. I like how that grows in the later seasons.

Actually I think she came out looking worse for the breakdown of their relationship than Luke does. The difference maybe that Chris was always intended to be a supporting character, whereas Luke part of the core cast and someone you are meant to be more invested in. Same with Richard, I've at no point hated him.

Lane is the best! They never gave her enough good stories! I always thought it was lazy to have her and Zack get together. And I don't like having them get married and get pregnant. Although I do like the wedding episode. Lol. I just never really feel like Lane and Zack are in love, even in the show it sort of feels life they are just settling for each other. If it were me, I'd have Lane leave Zack to pursuit her career in music, Lane could be like a music producer or get a gig on a radio station. There's so many better options they could have done with Lane.

ASP and WB/CW went into negotiations at the end of S6. ASP wanted 8 Seasons guaranteed and more help behind the camera. But the network didn't go for it.

Most of the actors had their contract end after S7. Alexis Bledel had made it known she didn't want to do more (and neither LG to a lesser extend). It was a long back and forth between the studio and these actresses. The studio even offered a short S8 but all talk eventually fell through. It's why Bon Voyage only works as a Series Finale to a limited extend.

Many of us thought back then that ASP wanted the extra 2 years to get in a new show that 8th year because she was aware of her main 2 women not wanting to continue beyond S7. IMO the network could smell what was cooking. It's also why she shot different endings to S6 and only decided on the one we got once negotiations had fallen through for good. Her last ditch effort, so to speak. Because who else but her could get this mess sorted out?

My thanks to ' HowiMetdaSlayer ', I was beginning to think there was no stuff to pour on the waffles. I did enjoy watching the film, 'the answer man' Lauran Graham seems to play the same character in both, and it fits, good on her.

To be honest, I didn't really feel like season 7 was incredibly different from the other seasons. I enjoyed it.

I liked Paris standing up for Lucy like many have pointed out, I liked Rory staying with Paris, I liked Paris and Doyle dancing at Lucy's party, I liked Lane being pregnant even if the character deserved more, I liked Logan and Rory, I liked Paris giving Logan crap, I liked Luke and April, I liked seeing Emily get arrested lol, etc. There was a lot of good in that season. I preferred it over the first seasons. The Yale years are by far my favorite years.

Lane could and should have been the prime example of a young person not having a rubbish life even without all the money, privilege and college education. Sure she could have still had her music, but it would have been awesome to see her career thrive, especially when Rory's starts to falter, just to show that you can be a success without college if you work hard. I just thought the whole marriage and babies was a cop out.
