Glad there's no season 6?

I love Angel more than any other show but...

Joss and the team say they didn't change the Season 5 ending (though I'm not so sure).

If they didn't change the ending this means that season six would have carried on with only Angel, Spike, Illyria and Gunn as the core cast and possibly rumours that Nina would have joined. This doesn't seem like a very strong cast line-up to me.

They would also have to move out of Wolfram and Hart meaning another entirely new show premise in just one season.

Does anyone else think this would have been too much change too quickly?
 
I agree. If anybody could make it work, it'd be Joss and co., but I just don't see how it could work after that finale. And I honestly don't think they could really come up with a better ending than Not Fade Away. It'd end up all be too neat and tidy like Chosen, and Angel wasn't like that, Angel showed that things do have consequences and problems do carry on and that finale showed that to me. Also, it's true that I don't think the line-up would have been too strong. I couldn't feasibly see Illyria without Wes. It'd be interesting to know what Joss and co. had planned for the other seasons after this one if season 5 wasn't changed at all.
 
Are you kidding? That would have been the greatest lineup ever! Don't get me wrong; I liked Wesley, but Illyria more than makes up for his absence. I am also a big fan of Nina, so I would love to have seen her as a main character. Even if I didn?t think that these would have been positive changes, I would never have been glad to see Angel cancelled. As Mason said, Joss and the others can make anything work well, including a sixth season.
 
I think S6 would have rocked...oh,and Joss wanted to add Seth Green to the cast.It would have been a wonderful season
 
Oh, there's no doubt I would have watched it, I'd watch the show through thick and thin, but I just dunno how they could have a better ending. It couldn't end up all neatly wrapped up with Angel having defeated his ultimate enemy, because IMO his ultimate enemy is himself and his contest with redemption, and I couldn't see them ending the show with him staking himself. I don't think there could be a 'real' end to Angel.

However, I really would like to know what Joss had in the pipeline for further seasons. Has he ever actually said (aside the comment that it would've been "chaos")?
 
They would have found a way to bring Wesley back. ME loved him, the fans loved him and he loved the show. There was no reason to suspect that they killed him off so Alexis could move on. It was something put in to really show that this was the end for Angel. If there was a season 6 I doubt that Wes would have died in the final.

Mason I can't remember where I read this but the first few episodes of season 6 were going to be set in an different dimension. Also Willow was going to show up at some point and seperate Fred from Illyria (meaning that Amy would have been playing two characters on the show). Joss also wanted Seth Green to reprise his role as Oz so he could come to L.A. and show Nina the ropes to being a Werewolf. Thats all I've heard about what season 6 would have been like.

This all sounds like a dream come true. How sad I am that it'll never come to pass. Oh I remember Joss saying that the premise of season 6 was "What happens when you buck the system and it actually works?" Which I think means the coup to interceed between the seniour partners and their earthly contacts worked and the world is left to its own devices.
 
I also really liked Nina and she could have been a great addition to the cast, as well as Oz. I wonder what they did change about the finale.
 
I read an interview with Amy Acker and she said that she would have been playing a Clark Kent/Superman kind of role with Fred/Illyria.

I think it would be interesting and no doubt a great season but i really don't think that a new line up would work as well as in Season 6.

Also a little note to say that the fight that would have taken place in 6x01 would more than likely have been quite an anti-climax as although Buffy/Angel have always been good with human drama the action scenes leave a lot to be desired (see Chosen for a prime example - wondeful episode but a fight with about as much tension as a man with diahorrea).

Just to clrify i love Angel and all things Whedonesque!
 
However much season six sounds cool, I am glad that season five ended it. I loved Not Fade Away, and anything following, in my opinion, would have lessened that episode's wonderfullness. Just my opinion...

That's how I feel about NFA but I would still love a season 6
I think it was the perfect ending for Angel as a series, but i think it was a great way to introduce a new show, perhaps around Illyria (you might get the idea I'm a fan form my other posts). I don't want to see a spike show because we have done the vampire with a soul show, and I'm sure Gunn died, but Illyria would be amazing in a show of her own. But thinking about it it would be neat to see a werewolf show so maybe nina would be aneat spinnof, or another favourite idea of mine would be gwen heading up a spinoff. the ending of angel was perfect for that show but i think another show needs to be created to continue on the buffyverse (I don't like letting go) or to at least answer some questions about hwat happens to them, I hate being left hanging.
 
I wish there was a S6.

They certainly did change some things in the finale because I know that Harmony & Lorne and most likely Wes too were going to stick around, Lorne was going to get another place similar to Caritas, and Harm was just going to be there to p!ss people of and be humourous.
 
If there was gonna be a season 6.......it wouldent have ended like that....wesley would have lived and they would have found a way to bring fred back
 
I didn't care for the season finale of ANGEL. Someone said that they preferred it over the BUFFY finale, because the latter was too neat. I don't buy that argument. I think that the ANGEL finale was an indication that the WB's decision to cancel the show had taken Whedon and his writers, unaware. The inconsistencies and the rushed storylines were that obvious.


I'm glad that there will be no Season 6. The idea of the show being set in a post-apocalyptic L.A. does not appeal to me. Nor does the idea of a resurrected Fred. She's dead and she should remain dead. I'm getting tired of supporting characters coming back from the dead. It's getting redundant.

I agree. . .not about not wanting another season of Angel, because I would've loved one, but I agree about the Fred ressurection. Joss has pulled that card FAR too much IMO. It just kind of gets boring after a while. Plus, Fred's death was SUCH a good scene, and an amazing character came out of it; so I'm glad they won't have the chance to ressurect her.

But, I think they could've done something cool with Season Six of Angel. Wesley, Lorne, Cordy, Fred, all gone [and I'm guessing Gunn died since he was bleeding ALOT]; it'd be interesting to see how Angel'd deal with all of his friends gone because they were the people keeping him on the good side of things.

Plus, they could've brought back characters from other seasons, or Buffy ones or something; I think it had possibilites.

Frankly, I would assume that Gunn had a better chance of returning for Season 6 than Wes.

And if there had been no Gunn, my interest in ANGEL would have ended. Period.
