I'm boycotting this episode because there are very few things I hate as much as Lady Gaga. But it sounds like a lot happened. can someone tell me exactly what happened? I know that's a lot to ask, but I had to watch the las Gaga episode because someone told me something happened I didn't see and I really don't want to watch this one.
I've been sold. I'm watching. I was under the impression it was going to be a Lady Gaga tribute episode. It's loading on my computer now!!! 🙂
Ok there was really only one major thing about this episode I had a problem with, and I'm really trying to let it go but.... come on, LUCY QUINN FABRAY?! I was seriously sitting there watching this part and going, ok IS THIS REAL LIFE?? 😱 The whole idea of Quinn not being beautiful at one time in her life is really hard for me to wrap my head around. I get that they were trying to give us a source of her insecurity, and I have to applaud them for actually giving her a storyline, but destroying her backstory doesn't seem like the best way to go about it. I think they were trying too hard to make her fit into the "born this way" category with her insecurities, since she didn't really have any before this that she was born with. It would have been much better for them to just use her post-baby boy image insecurities or something instead, because that would have been much more realistic than coming up with this crazy story. I was upset right after I saw this, but I've cooled off a bit now, and i'm hoping that they will still give her character development. At least now it's official that she definitely deserves Prom Queen. Although, that only makes it even more upsetting that.she loses to Kurt
That's why I wish they talked about loving yourself inside and out. I love myself inside and I've started dieting and exercising because I love myself enough to want myself to be healthy. I love myself enough to want to live the best life I can. I don't want to have heart problems and breathing problems and I don't want to have issues with my back and I don't want my bones to crack when I stand up (every time I stand up) because of my weight. I love myself enough to give up the chocolate to feel better. I'm obese, but I plan to change that and I'm working on it.Also, just wanted to point out that Quinn deciding to live a healthier, more active lifestyle is a good thing, not a bad thing. She started exercising, this is good. She started eating better, this is good. She started putting some pride into how she looks, this is good. I don't really understand why Glee keep trying to push the message that being obese is a valid lifestyle choice if you want to be happy. It isn't. People that are obese due to their own choices (over eating and no exercise) should not be role models for an already obese country like America.
Ok, so thanks to the help of some of the posts in this thread, as well as this awesome tumblr post I found, I am coming to terms with the Lucy thing. If you care at all about Quinn and her insecurities, the tumblr post is definitely worth reading. It really provides pretty solid explanations for everything Quinn related in this episode and ties the Lucy story in with events that have happened in the past. It's long, but worth the read. I'm still kind of shocked at the idea of Quinn's past being drastically different than what we were led to believe, and I still can't really handle the fact that her beauty isn't genuine, but I'm starting to see that this does explain a lot about her insecurities. Bottom line is, although we knew that Rachel has been jealous of Quinn's looks, all along Quinn has been jealous of Rachel's self-confidence. The fact that Rachel is so true to herself and loves who she is, even when her appearance is made light of, makes Quinn feel even worse about not being able to accept how she looked and all the changes she made to herself. Which is why she wanted Rachel to change her nose to look more like hers - it would have given her assurance that altering herself was the right thing to do. Anyway, I'm not going to reiterate everything said in the tumblr post, but it really does make a lot of sense. If I wasn't convinced before this, I now truly believe that Quinn is the most complex character on this show.
Amazing post! Thanks for sharing.
I'm amazed, but at the same time feel sorry for Quinn. I'm amazed because she had set a goal, and changed herself. Most of the girls in her situation think they could never change anything, and that they're not worth it.
I feel sorry for her because she changed for the others, not for herself. If she was accepted as she were, if she had friends, I don't think she would have the need to change. Just like Mercedes. Unlike you, I belive her beauty is genuine. I haven't seen anything wrong with that picture of Lucy. She wasn't ugly. Sure, Quinn is prettier now, but she wasn't ugly before. She was just unhappy.
Have you guys seen that some of the tracks from Rumours have been leaked?! I really loveAnyway, I think those are the only ones I've heard so far. Should be a good episode music-wise.Songbird, cuz Naya's just amazing. And Go Your Own Way! It's awesome!! Rachel leads, but it's a group number and it's just great. I Don't Want To Know is the Fuinn duet, and I honestly wasn't sure if I would like it since i'm not a big Fuinn shipper. But it is seriously so good!! Their voices really complement each other and blend so well together! Dare I say that their voices may just sound better together than Finn and Rachel? 😱 Please don't hurt me, it's just one opinion. 😉 I do still love Finchel duets, but I really liked this. Of course they wait until Fuinn is about to break up to finally give them a duet together. Wish we could have had something like this in season 1.

No problem! Isn't it insighful?? I don't know who that person is, but i'm definitely now interested in everything they have to say. lol.
I feel so unbelievably sorry for Quinn, she's really hurting and has been hurting for a long time.
I guess what I was trying to say with that comment about genuine beauty didn't really come out clearly. What I find difficult to accept is that just four years prior to this, Quinn looked nothing like she does now. She's so pretty now, and it just seems so wrong to all of a sudden tell us that the beauty she has now is manufactured. Though that picture was intentionally trying to make her look ugly, I wasn't trying to hate on it. It just seems like they are making light of how beautiful she is now, and implying that no one can really be that pretty naturally. I guess my Dianna fangirl is coming out, because I would imagine that she has never looked anything but pretty in real life. And I'm just slightly irritated that through this storyline, they are kind of making Dianna's natural beauty that she's always had appear to be fake. I mean, I know that's not what the intention was, this was done purely to Quinn and not to Dianna. But in essence, Dianna is Quinn, so I can't help but be a little bit put off by it. That's all I was really trying to say, I didn't mean to make it sound like being outwardly pretty is the only thing that makes someone beautiful. Anyway, accepting this storyline is still a work in progress for me. 😉
I've heard it, and I don't like it so much. It's not because it's Fuinn, but because I don't like the song and I think Finn was overpowering Quinn's voice.
I understand what you're trying to say. I truly don't know how to respond. I love both Dianna and Quinn, but Quinn is not my favourite character, although she's one of them. I see many people who are saying Glee helpped them realize this or that, whatever their problem is centered on. I guess my problem is Rachel's problem - never feeling pretty enough, or pretty at all, mixed with Mercedes' problem, feeling fat but hiding it behind the attitude. But I guess it never helpped me, because those people are telling us for 40 minutes that they don't feel pretty and that they're loser, but the fact is, they're pretty and popular.
