Glee 4

ok just got done watching the episode. OMG I loved it. I totally loved both Emma and Quinn's story line's. Eeeep I wanna watch it again!!! Oh and Santana was awesome as usual.

I loved this episode. It was amazing. AMAZING I TELL YOU!

You see, Glee can cover all the characters and still rock!!!! Ok, maybe we were lacking Mercedes and Artie (for who I don't care about), but Mercedes got to sing Born This Way.

I loved Rachel in this episode. I can't say I understand her, because I don't have a nose problem like her, but I'm glad she didn't get trough the surgery. I kinda understand her compulsive need to be like Quinn, especially because she's with Finn now. Rachel always compared herself to her, wanting to be as good as her, not understanding she's as good, probably better. To me, Rachel is perfect, and I would give anything to look like her.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO JUST GOT BACK FROM MARS OR SOMEWHERE, FINCHEL IS TOTALLY ON!

How sweet was that moment? That look. I tell you guys, it's all in the eyes. Finn told Rachel so many times she's beautiful, when is she going to realize it? And how he looked at her, with honesty. I JUST LOVE THEM.

And Finn, he's such a sweetheart. I can't belive I'm saying this, but I actually liked that Fuinn moment. To be honest, it was mostly because of Fuinn. My friend was dumped by her boyfriend when he found out she was overweight before he met her, and this Fuinn moment really reminded me of them.. Finn did the right thing, also he made Quinn feel better.. JUST NO MORE FUINN KISSES, PLEASE!!!!

Quinn's story about Lucy Caboosey.. well, at first I thought it's a really mean thing from Lauren to do, but then, I liked the story. Seriously, it explains Quinn's look to beauty better, and her need to feel pretty and perfect all the time. Now when I think about it, maybe she really deserves that crown..

Kurt is back. I'm glad. I missed him. Also, sweet Tike moment. I'm glad to see Mike loves Tina so much 🙂

Also, Brittana  If you STILL ship Bartie after this, there is something wrong with you. Seriously, people should have stopped shipping it (and it should stop existing) after Sexy.. but this episode, that line Brittany tells to Santana, is just beautiful.

I'm glad we got to see more from Emma. She's such an amazing character, and I'm glad they talk about her problem seriously now. OCD is not funny.. mine is not as bad as hers, and sometimes I'm still coping with it hard, so I never liked when they approached to it like a joke.

I can't tell episode helped me, because I'm not going to start loving myself just because I understand no one can be perfect. Maybe if one day I transform from Lucy Fabray to Quinn Fabray.

I'm boycotting this episode because there are very few things I hate as much as Lady Gaga. But it sounds like a lot happened. can someone tell me exactly what happened? I know that's a lot to ask, but I had to watch the las Gaga episode because someone told me something happened I didn't see and I really don't want to watch this one.

It's just a song. Barbra got more attention. And this ep is one of the best or even THE BEST.

I feel ya on the GaGa dislike, but this episode is definitely worth watching. They sing Born This Way at the very end, so it could easily be skipped.

They do one Lady Gaga song. It's the worst part of an amazing episode. I'd say it's up there with Furt and Original Song or the best 3 episodes of the season and it's be in the top 10 of the series. This episode they focused so much less on their comic relief (which the last episodes have too much of) and this episode focused on character development and we got SO much. Emma had more character development in this episode then she has had all series, same with Quinn. Dianna Agron is a brilliant actress and I think she deserves ALL the praise she gets.

This episode surprised me. I'm back on ALL of the 3 major stories after bashing them earlier today actually. I'm surprised that I was SO taken by the Rachel story as well. I loved the whole episode and I thought it wasn't long enough LOL. I was sort of hoping originally that they'd wrap up the Karofsky story, the Fuinn/Finchel/Faberry triangle and that they'd wrap up the Wemma story, but I find myself encompassed in all of them now, which surprises me tbh. I heard that the ep wasn't great because it didn't have as much comedy but I think that's great because there has been too much. The episode sort of feels like it tried hard enough to build a great episode on top of a great concept while not going over the top and they achieved that I think.

Zoe, you really should watch. The episode is brilliant and you can, I guess, skip the Born This Way bit, (there is some important Emma and Santana moments that I wouldn't want to miss in the performance, but idk.)

I love you for saying that Dianna deserves all the praise. So true.
I've been sold. I'm watching. I was under the impression it was going to be a Lady Gaga tribute episode. It's loading on my computer now!!! 🙂

BTW Zoe, I love the site Cucirca for my Glee watching. The traffic is so insanely well set out.

Oh I wouldn't have been invested in it if it was another Gaga tribute...I love Gaga, but 1 is enough. But nah, haha. It's one of the best character episodes of the season and definitely worth it, so so so so so so so worth it.

The last episode was amazing 😀 I really liked how they didn't forget to mention the psychological issues people deal with as well as the physical ones, good to see Emma's OCD has been taken seriously at last. I thought Quinn's backstory was a little bit ridiculous but loved it nonetheless, and I'm actually starting to like Santana at long last (couldn't stand her until Night of Neglect). Rachel as always was brilliant as well, really loving the subtlety of her and Finn at the moment. Kurt's solo was beautiful as well.

I agree very very very much with the Emma's OCD. It was finally talked about in a serious light!
I will try to keep this short, as I tend to get carried away, but I just wanted to say that overall this episode rocked. 🙂 It was really refreshing to see a whole episode focused almost entirely on the girls and the insecurities they face. It ended up being mainly about Santana, Rachel, and Quinn, which are probably my three favorite characters, so that was huge.

Santana's storyline with Karofsky was both entertaining and endearing, and although she was doing it to win Prom Queen, at least it was to impress Brittany. And Santana was just all kinds of funny in this episode. It was admittedly a more serious episode (which I like), but most of the comic relief seems to have come from Santana.

The Faberry duet, seriously there's no words! But i'm going to say some anyway. 😉 It was just so perfect and heartwrenching and beautiful. I was so impressed with the performances that both Lea and Dianna gave. There was so much emotion, and their faces just said it all. Also, the more I watch it, the more I like how it was laid out. I had at first wanted it to be just the two of them singing to each other in the choir room (kind of Landslideish), but i like how unique and interesting they made it. And the really cool thing about this scene is that I think so many people can relate to it. The nose job thing was an extreme, but the meaning behind it still rings true - everyone has something they don't like about themselves. I don't mean to generalize, but I think at least for the girls, we've all been either Rachel or Quinn at some point in our lives. We've all been either the girl in school who wanted desperately to be prettier, or we've been the pretty girl who looked great on the outside, but who was dealing with deep insecurities on the inside. I applaud the writers, as well as Lea and Dianna, for giving us something so relevant and beautiful--I've been touched.

Ok there was really only one major thing about this episode I had a problem with, and I'm really trying to let it go but.... come on, LUCY QUINN FABRAY?! I was seriously sitting there watching this part and going, ok IS THIS REAL LIFE?? 😱 The whole idea of Quinn not being beautiful at one time in her life is really hard for me to wrap my head around. I get that they were trying to give us a source of her insecurity, and I have to applaud them for actually giving her a storyline, but destroying her backstory doesn't seem like the best way to go about it. I think they were trying too hard to make her fit into the "born this way" category with her insecurities, since she didn't really have any before this that she was born with. It would have been much better for them to just use her post-baby boy image insecurities or something instead, because that would have been much more realistic than coming up with this crazy story. I was upset right after I saw this, but I've cooled off a bit now, and i'm hoping that they will still give her character development. At least now it's official that she definitely deserves Prom Queen. Although, that only makes it even more upsetting that
she loses to Kurt
.

Anyway, still a great episode and I'm trying not to let this Lucy Caboosey thing bother me. I'm sure in time it won't bother me as much, i was just kind of annoyed at first. Sorry guys, I really did try to keep this post short. 😉

I think it adds another layer to her character personally. Makes her a bit more human and adds to the bitch image she's put on all series. Love Quinn so much.

Lucy story was unexpected, but in my opinion, it explains a lot of things. It explains why Quinn had the need too look perfect all the time, why is popularity so important to her, why was cheerleading so important to her, and why she wants that crown - the ultimate prove of popularity, something only pretty girls can get. Those are not things she wants, but things she needs to get rid of the feeling she felt in her past. That storyline didn't ruined the character for me, but made it more dear. To be honest, not evry overweight girl in HS is as confident as Lauren, or as Mercedes. Most of them are like Quinn, sick of themselves. They want to change, because they don't feel normal with who they are - because they look different than others. Quinn had every right to change herself, and I share that wish with her. It awesome to see Lauren who is confident with her body, and Mercedes.. who are ok with how they look like. It's inspirational. But, seeing that Lucy became Quinn, that's more inspirational. Because she wanted to change herself, and did it. Sometimes, change is not bad. I just don't know why they had to put a story with the nose job.. her nose seemed perfectly fine. What I'm trying to say, I think they realized not everyone are happy how they were born. Rachel and Tina accepted themselves, but Quinn and Santana are for the change.

I really liked last night's episode... I do not think we've seen the last of the old bully Karofsky, though... I don't think it's that simple for him to change his ways.
I'm so happy Kurt is back at McKinley. I loved the Warblers and Dalton, but I am happy to see the show getting back to it's roots. Even though it does mean a little less Blaine, which doesn't make me quite as happy. LOL
I don't really know whether to be disgusted at Quinn or feel sorry for her. On one hand, I totally identify with the desire to change the things you hate about yourself. I went through my high school years feeling fat and ugly, and hating myself for it. But you know, never once did I ever think that getting plastic surgery was the answer for that, so I'm glad we got the storyline showing the glee club urging Rachel not to change who she is.
Poor, poor Emma... I'm so glad she's finally getting the help she needs. I have high hopes for Wemma again now. 😀

Me too! I really hope Wemma will happen!
Honestly, sometimes I really wonder what they are doing with the Lauren character. Just as I started to actually like her a little bit she becomes a total cow again. Her behaviour was not beautiful, and when you pair that with her not so typically attractive exterior it just leaves me wanting to ask the Glee writers just what they are getting at.

Also, just wanted to point out that Quinn deciding to live a healthier, more active lifestyle is a good thing, not a bad thing. She started exercising, this is good. She started eating better, this is good. She started putting some pride into how she looks, this is good. I don't really understand why Glee keep trying to push the message that being obese is a valid lifestyle choice if you want to be happy. It isn't. People that are obese due to their own choices (over eating and no exercise) should not be role models for an already obese country like America.

I really enjoyed the Santana and Karofsky storyline, I'm really looking forward to seeing what transpires at prom. I really want to see Santana come out of the closet, but I really really want to see her with Brittany. If not with Britters then definitely with someone kick arseingly awesome.

There is a rumour going around that <spoilers>Blaine</spoilers> is going to die after a few things that happened such as <spoilers> the slow camera hold of his face smiling and Kurt saying that he will never say goodbye </spoilers>. Nothing would make me god damn angrier at the show. It's my number one reason for watching the show!

Other than all that has been said - I really loved this episode. It felt like old school Glee to me, but still felt fresh. I'm so glad that Glee is getting back to it's good stuff. Oh, and I'm glad there was only one Lady-makes-me-want-to-GAG song. She's like the Emperor's New Clothes...

Agree about Lauren.
Ok sit back people. I just finished.

First of all I loved it. I finished watching and then put my phone on shuffle and Who Says by Selena Gomez came on and now I can't turn it off. I hate the song Born This Way. But Who Says and Firework are my "I feel like crap and shouldn't" songs. So they're going to be playing all day. haha This episode made me really proud of myself because a couple years ago I HATED myself. I thought I was so ugly and worthless and the dreams I had for my life and what I wanted to do was stupid. But I love myself so much now. I am who I am and I wouldn't want to be anybody else. I'm beautiful. I look at myself in the mirror and I say "You're beautiful Zoà«. You're so beautiful. God I am so pretty" all the time. I no longer think "I'm going to be someone special, just you watch" because I AM someone special. I am going to be successful and I will remembered. But I AM someone. I love me. And this episode reminded me I'm amazing. 🙂

Now onto the actually story lines. My biggest issue with this episode is when Quinn's Lucy thing came out they didn't focus on the difference between loving your appearance and loving yourself. Loving yourself means so much more than thinking you're beautiful. And because Quinn is still so focused on being popular and looking perfect all the time (which is clearly because of her past), I don't think she really loves herself. If she really loved herself none of that would matter. When you really love yourself, inside and out, how strangers view you and what they think of you doesn't matter to you in the grand scheme of things. But it does to her. I really hope they explore her insecurities more and get to the bottom of that.

Even though she didn't dance, I'm so glad Santana wore the shirt. Although I wish they had made Brittany get that right, because they took away from a really touching moment by trying to put comedy there where it didn't belong. But I LOVED "Obviously you don't love you as much as I love you because if you did you'd put that shirt on and dance with me." I don't ship Brittana. But I want Santana out. I also REALLY hope they stop making Brittany "think she might be bi-curious" and just straight up call he bi. The grey area sexualities need representation in the media. But that's an issue for another episode.

I'm glad Rachel didn't get her nose job. Lea Michelle is beautiful. Rachel is beautiful. Rachel is beautiful inside and out. She's my favorite character for a reason. Although I wish they dove into why Rachel picked Quinn. I mean we can say it's because Quinn's nose is perfect and symmetrical because it's fake... or we could say it's because Quinn represents who Rachel wishes she could be. Quinn has Finn, she's popular, she's beautiful. Quinn is to Rachel as my former "friend" Livia was to me. I get why they didn't (I'm guessing time restraints) but I wish they dove into that.

I couldn't be more proud of Emma. I'm so routing for her. It's going to be tough, but I know she can do it.

Music: IT WAS ALL AMAZING! I hate Born This Way but I think even that was a great cover. FANTASTIC.

This was the Glee I know and love. I wish I could have some sort of indication it's here to stay.

That's why I wish they talked about loving yourself inside and out. I love myself inside and I've started dieting and exercising because I love myself enough to want myself to be healthy. I love myself enough to want to live the best life I can. I don't want to have heart problems and breathing problems and I don't want to have issues with my back and I don't want my bones to crack when I stand up (every time I stand up) because of my weight. I love myself enough to give up the chocolate to feel better. I'm obese, but I plan to change that and I'm working on it.

Now this doesn't mean I don't think I'm beautiful. I am. I look at myself in the mirror and I think I'm beautiful. But I value myself enough to want to be healthy.

This post is win! :D
Ok, so thanks to the help of some of the posts in this thread, as well as this awesome tumblr post I found, I am coming to terms with the Lucy thing. If you care at all about Quinn and her insecurities, the tumblr post is definitely worth reading. It really provides pretty solid explanations for everything Quinn related in this episode and ties the Lucy story in with events that have happened in the past. It's long, but worth the read. Check it out: http://showthemwhat.tumblr.com/post/4980636342/the-hidden-life-of-quinn-fabray-or-pretty-girl

I'm still kind of shocked at the idea of Quinn's past being drastically different than what we were led to believe, and I still can't really handle the fact that her beauty isn't genuine, but I'm starting to see that this does explain a lot about her insecurities. Bottom line is, although we knew that Rachel has been jealous of Quinn's looks, all along Quinn has been jealous of Rachel's self-confidence. The fact that Rachel is so true to herself and loves who she is, even when her appearance is made light of, makes Quinn feel even worse about not being able to accept how she looked and all the changes she made to herself. Which is why she wanted Rachel to change her nose to look more like hers - it would have given her assurance that altering herself was the right thing to do. Anyway, I'm not going to reiterate everything said in the tumblr post, but it really does make a lot of sense. If I wasn't convinced before this, I now truly believe that Quinn is the most complex character on this show.

Amazing post! Thanks for sharing.

I'm amazed, but at the same time feel sorry for Quinn. I'm amazed because she had set a goal, and changed herself. Most of the girls in her situation think they could never change anything, and that they're not worth it.

I feel sorry for her because she changed for the others, not for herself. If she was accepted as she were, if she had friends, I don't think she would have the need to change. Just like Mercedes. Unlike you, I belive her beauty is genuine. I haven't seen anything wrong with that picture of Lucy. She wasn't ugly. Sure, Quinn is prettier now, but she wasn't ugly before. She was just unhappy.

haha now i'm scared! Well have you listened to the
Fuinn duet?
I'd really love to know your thoughts. :)
Have you guys seen that some of the tracks from Rumours have been leaked?! I really love
Songbird, cuz Naya's just amazing. And Go Your Own Way! It's awesome!! Rachel leads, but it's a group number and it's just great. I Don't Want To Know is the Fuinn duet, and I honestly wasn't sure if I would like it since i'm not a big Fuinn shipper. But it is seriously so good!! Their voices really complement each other and blend so well together! Dare I say that their voices may just sound better together than Finn and Rachel? 😱 Please don't hurt me, it's just one opinion. 😉 I do still love Finchel duets, but I really liked this. Of course they wait until Fuinn is about to break up to finally give them a duet together. Wish we could have had something like this in season 1.
Anyway, I think those are the only ones I've heard so far. Should be a good episode music-wise.

No problem! Isn't it insighful?? I don't know who that person is, but i'm definitely now interested in everything they have to say. lol.

I feel so unbelievably sorry for Quinn, she's really hurting and has been hurting for a long time.

I guess what I was trying to say with that comment about genuine beauty didn't really come out clearly. What I find difficult to accept is that just four years prior to this, Quinn looked nothing like she does now. She's so pretty now, and it just seems so wrong to all of a sudden tell us that the beauty she has now is manufactured. Though that picture was intentionally trying to make her look ugly, I wasn't trying to hate on it. It just seems like they are making light of how beautiful she is now, and implying that no one can really be that pretty naturally. I guess my Dianna fangirl is coming out, because I would imagine that she has never looked anything but pretty in real life. And I'm just slightly irritated that through this storyline, they are kind of making Dianna's natural beauty that she's always had appear to be fake. I mean, I know that's not what the intention was, this was done purely to Quinn and not to Dianna. But in essence, Dianna is Quinn, so I can't help but be a little bit put off by it. That's all I was really trying to say, I didn't mean to make it sound like being outwardly pretty is the only thing that makes someone beautiful. Anyway, accepting this storyline is still a work in progress for me. 😉

I've heard it, and I don't like it so much. It's not because it's Fuinn, but because I don't like the song and I think Finn was overpowering Quinn's voice.

I understand what you're trying to say. I truly don't know how to respond. I love both Dianna and Quinn, but Quinn is not my favourite character, although she's one of them. I see many people who are saying Glee helpped them realize this or that, whatever their problem is centered on. I guess my problem is Rachel's problem - never feeling pretty enough, or pretty at all, mixed with Mercedes' problem, feeling fat but hiding it behind the attitude. But I guess it never helpped me, because those people are telling us for 40 minutes that they don't feel pretty and that they're loser, but the fact is, they're pretty and popular.

I definitely see why you think Finn is overpowering Quinn, and I do kind of agree. But I think we are just so used to hearing him sing with Rachel, who has an incredibly powerful voice and who at times, overpowers his. This is a different kind of duet than Finchel has ever done, imo. Finn is singing melody the entire time, with Quinn harmonizing, so his voice is supposed to be slightly louder than hers. Usually when Finn and Rachel sing together, they share the melody, but this was just a different type of song. Anyway, I like it but I can understand why not everyone would. 🙂

I'm glad you understand what i'm trying to say. It's kind of an anomaly, and you make a good point that, although these kids play losers on tv, they are far from it in real life. But it works because they are talented actors, and I have been able to sympathize with them in their struggles and learn from them. But yeah, i just think there is a fine line when it comes to commenting too much on appearance. I mean, I feel bad that Chord's lips are constantly made fun of - and i don't even care much for Sam. But that has to get to him on some level doesn't it? And the thing with Dianna, i mean they're not really trying to say that she's not pretty, but this storyline gives us that ever so slight implication that her appearance is, in a way, fake. I don't really see her taking anything personally, but as a fan I'm just slightly bothered. That's not the biggest issue I have with this though. Yes it is all starting to make sense, but i think on some level I will always be a little bit bothered by the fact that everything we thought we knew about Quinn and her past - we didn't. Still, this story leaves a lot of room for growth and development, as well as Quinn confronting other insecurities, so I really hope we get some of that.
