Alcohol is out of fashion with younger people now, who are drinking less than previous generations
I couldn't find the current anti alcohol campaign, but these ads have been on aussie tv for years. No wonder kids dont want to drink anymore ha.
We have the same sort of ads for sun exposure/skin cancer, smoking and "wrong" foods.
We used to use alcohol to calm the nerves when out and about. Now people use meds instead. The threat of ending up on social media is a not worth dancing for. I hate when people take photos of me, doing things like paying for petrol, just to mock. It would be far worse if you were drinking. Or eating a burger like the Hoff.
There is no way I could have had the teenage social life that I did, had I been living with my parents, so i think thats a big one too. Young people staying home for longer means they just dont have the same chance to rely on community for companionship, rather than family. There is so much more to say on this but probably not the point of your thread
🙂
Fashion wise, i have not seen a return to modesty, as much as bigger people everywhere. And bigger people who are shamed for the short stuff and therefore dont wear it. I still see the skinny girls in bikinis and tiny shirts and skirts. Its far more scandalous to be a bit fat and hairy than it is for skinny chicks to show skin.
I agree knitting and crochet, indoor hobbies have come back, just because the outside stuff isnt done so much. Crochet is one of the absolute cheapest hobbies to have. You can do more yarn art than you can for the same cost in paint, for example. That seemed to blow up during the pandemic.
I want to try joining a choir too, that seems to have become quiet popular again as well. However I don't want a weekly one, which they all seem to be
I hated choir in school, but now I love singing with the congregation. Everyone belts out and gives it a go, its wonderful 😍
