GREEN LANTERN: Boreanaz v. Reynolds?

So in recent times, we've seen two Green Lantern incarnations with a 3rd on the way.

The first saw GL David Boreanaz opposite Neil Patrick Harris, Brooke Shields, Kyra Sedgwick, and Lucy Lawless. Imo, it was a great production, dream cast, and of note, it even received an Emmy nom (animated 2008).

The second had GL Christopher Meloni opposite Trisha Helfer. This production also received overwhelmingly positive reviews, but not quite the accolades of Boreanaz' (animated 2009).

Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a cocky test pilot who becomes a ring-wearing intergalactic superhero in this massive sci-fi epic from director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale). Though Reynolds has prior experience in the superhero realm from his role as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, playing Green Lantern involved some major challenges

Now Ryan Reynolds will be filling out the suit in a live action flick.

So if it were up to you, who would be in the Green now?
 
I like Ryan for the part, I think he has the attitude right, but DB could have been good live action also, cuz I think he's probably similar!
 
David would have been perfect if he were still in his late-20s, early 30s. Or if they wanted a older Hal Jordan. But Ryan fits the bill now and thats cool.

Yeah, I'd tend to agree, I suppose. I know next to nothing about the Green Lantern mythology outside of what I've seen in movies or on TV, but I think I might have cast Ryan Reynolds as the lead of rookie Kyle Raynor, with Boreanaz as a veteran Hal Jordan.

I believe Raynor was the young artist, where Jordan was the test pilot. Personally though, I strongly preferred John Stewart to either, since he was almost as formidable without the ring using his US Marine Corps training. I also found him more interesting since he was the only superhero I grew up watching who was opened about his identity without an alter-ego.
 
Did you guys see the comic-con video of Reynolds reciting the GL oath? He's totally money in the bank for me.

It's hard for me to compare the voice of an animated character with an actual live actor playing that same character, especially before I actually see that live actor playing the part. From what I recall of the original Green Lantern when the first comic was introduced, he was drawn as being more slender than the typical superheroes, Superman and Batman in particular, so, just based on that, I would go with Ryan.

On the other hand, David just might make a passable Superman without a whole lot of bulking up. (I absolutely despise those foam rubber padded suits that all of the movie batmen have worn.) Reeves was always too thin for the part.
 
I have absolutely no opinion on the matter, but may I say how HOT DB looks in that picture?! ::drool:: Oh my, I gotta clean that up.

The only problem I have with Reynolds doing Green Lantern is there may be burnout when he does Deadpool.. and him doing Deadpool (doing him right, not the mute thing in the wolverine movie) would be killer. He seems the perfect smartass for Deadpool, not so certain about Green Lantern.
 
As a long time Green Lantern fan, i don't see Reynolds being able to pull Hal off effectively...

I've got nothing against him or the actor, i just don't see it for some reason... i'll see the movie, because it's going to be awesome, and i might be wrong, but i'm withholding judgement until then...

as for Boreanaz, for those that know the Green Lantern universe, i can see him pulling off Kyle Rayner (Hal's successor after he went evil) a lot easier than I can see him pulling off Hal 😀

If you want to learn about the comics... hell, the character first appeared way back in 1940... so there's a lot to catch you up on lol

I am not familiar with that super hero, but I will definitely see that movie.
Ryan Reynolds is okey looking I guess and he's a good actor, was that Peter Sarsgaard I saw? now him I like 😀
but that chick who was in the trailer seems to be a really terrible actress

Good superhero... seriously... most notably known for knocking Superman out with one punch (Hal Jordan GL) and knocking Batman out with another (Guy Gardner - different GL)

Ugh, I just re-watched X-men origins: Wolverine and though the movie was better the second time around it still had the flaw of Ryan Reynolds. Seriously I don't see why he's so popular and to cast him as the Green Lantern... for shame (almost worse than Ben Affleck for Daredevil).

So if the question is Boreanaz vs. Reynolds I think my answer would be obvious...
