Down the road , that might be something you'd do well with , with your taste for new potatoes . I saw a vid the other day where they pierced bags of dirt like a strawberry planter, so they had plants trailing out the top and sides. They were making bank ! With a greenhouse maybe 2 crops a year .

Unfortunately I haven't been able to replace my greenhouse, does make me concerned about my tomatoes this year.
I'm on the hunt for a shed, as currently everything is in my car, which is not convenient for me.
 
I took the shade cloths down this week, I am trying to figure a way to have it so I can just roll them out easy next summer as the garden did SO much better under shade 😀 good timing as there has been some super gusty winds today.

Pears are bigger than ever but not ready yet. That single apple is still holding on, I have bags from a friend so I'll see how big that last apple on the tree can get haha. Tons of limes. I need to trim the Mandarin tree back (as usual). My newest blueberry wants a bigger pot.

Have spent the day killing weeds on the driveway. The dogs tried to help by digging 5 seperate holes. My lawn is slowly sprawling, but a long way to go.
 
So my car is out of action until Wednesday, and I haven't had it all last week either, making it trickier to get stuff done. However I have been walking over when I can.
Got an arch put up, and started to dig over and cover the sections ready for when I need them.
Seeds are growing well, currently have seedlings of; celeriac, cherry tomatoes, cauliflower romanesco, leek, pumpkins, squash and baby sweetcorn.
Up at the allotment I have garlic, carrot and beetroot hopefully growing, and will put in parsnips soon.
The only one so far that hasn't started to grow is the cucamelon seeds, but they are definitely more if an experiment.
Yesterday I gained some plant pots that I'll use for herbs, they're various sizes, and not big, so maybe basil as I have seeds, mint, rosemary and chives.
 
Didn't have my car for a week and half, but I've gained a few freebies in that time, some seeds, I'll not use all of them, but I'll give the kohlrabi and basil a go. Plant pots, which I need to collect, and when I picked up my car some tyres. The tyres are now in place on the corner of the plot ready to be a flower planter. I went to Morrisons and got a £1.30 trailing fushia to go in them, and have some lupins as well so that'll fill them up with colour for less than a fiver!

I looked on www.gardenfocused.co.uk for the last frost date in my area and they predict the last week of April, so I'll leave everything until May then start moving things outside but still undercover to adjust before planting. Another 3 weeks and I'll start getting my living room back! Not really as I'll soon start off the next batch of seeds.
 
I like kohl rabi ,tasty cabbagey globes 🙂 . No bugger wants them though , so maybe don't go mad with the planting 😉 .

Yeah, still debating on sowing them or not. Got a lot going in, so do I need another? I'm going to wait until May before deciding and seeing what I have.
Still loads of weeding to do before anything goes in!

Got some coffee grounds from the coffee shop across the road.
 
I've discovered it's chickweed that my plot is covered in, apparently edible but so prolific. Its a constant battle with that and the grass. I did strim the grass today but forgot to take a spare blade so didn't get it all done.

Took the cat up today as well, he's not sure about it, but I want to try and take him up frequently.

Put the coffee grounds under the blueberry plants and weeded around those, both varieties now have flowers appearing. Apart from the garlic I don't think anything else is growing, the other fruit bushes have started to get new leaves but no flowers yet. Can't see any carrot or beetroot seedlings coming through either, I'll redo those and do parsnips next week if weather is good.

At home I've repotted the sweetcorn, pumpkins and squash. Tomatoes will be next to do, and my Aldi greenhouse is due by Friday, according to the multiple emails they've sent me!
 
I want to move some fencing around, fence off the driveway from the dogs and give them the duck paddock to run in. They have discovered the grass runners and think they are the best fun to play tug of war with the earth..and then they run around shredding them. So I have lots of little runners now lol.

Im going to poison the driveway as those awful seedy weeds are popping up again. I duno what they are called, someone said tiktockies? I am destroying anything that isnt Kikuyu. Probably live to regret establishing grass, but the dust and sand and mud gets in my house, and I hate cleaning more than I hate gardening!

I have a fair bit of ivy to cut back. I have tried weaving with it before but dont have the right tools, every basket has ended up as kindling after a couple years. If i can find some gloves, I might try another one, but its not something I can do inside. I really have limited energy for fun crafty stuff like that when there is so much other work to do.
 
Just picked some pears and limes. As much as a paper coles bag could handle from both. Still more on the tree, but the pears seem ready now. I have been picking one a day to eat while in the yard and they are softening up now. Will run the limes to the pub and pears to neighbours. Jim has some rhubarb which I might swap him for. Im not a big fan of rhubarb but I'd like to see how it goes in my multicooker for a pie filling. If I freeze it until the chokos start, maybe thats another thing I can use them in.
 
Well a wet day here today, so I'll get on with the indoor jobs, repotting the tomato plants, thinning out the broccoli and cauliflower seedlings and maybe repotting the leeks. Then it's rearrange the living room to fit them all in!
My aldi special greenhouse is due today, so I'll put that up tomorrow as it's meant to be dry then.
My plan is to also plant, parsnips, beetroot and carrots tomorrow. I might get more strawberry plants too, the ones I have are late season ones, so might buy an early one as well, I love strawberries so a long season will be great.

Have you decided on what you want to grow get?

I got some herbs to go into the pots I was given previously, so tomorrow I'll sort that out, and if I've got enough compost I'll do carrots in one of the bags I was given as well.

I'm still waiting for the plug plants I ordered to arrive as well, but the aldi greenhouse arrived today, so I'll put that up tomorrow and weigh it down as much as possible.

No I haven't but I need to get on it asap! I know I want to grow mint, maybe lavender. Was thinking of panting some sunflowers along the back of my yard....

Sunflowers are great! Perfect plant to start with :)

A herb garden is a great idea, but stick with pots for mint as @TriBel says it will grow and grow. What other herbs do you use a lot of, could you grow those? I got chives, more because I love the little purple flowers but they're something I'd use as well.
 
Im waiting for my solitary strawberry plant to spread. Poor little thing is a descendant of one I got from the dying rack. Its the only one that survived summer. If it has babies I will try again next year.

I split the leeks off the big mumma one and probably shouldnt have planted them out when it was so hot and sunny, I hope this rain is not too little too late for them.


Swapped some pears for some green apples from a lady from the congregation. Shes 85 and said it took her two days to pick them all. I still have pears on my tree.


My mint all died over summer. I wanted it to spread! But the sun killed most of it. Im hoping a few come back with the cooler weather and rain, they have not spread as fast or covered as much as weeds do!

Flowers you say? Now I will grow chives as well haha! I tried to keep basil alive and failed....................

I fail with basil too. Its too dry here . Parsley, oregano, dill, sage, thyme, rosemary all go well. Rosemary is almost unkillable. I dont even water mine 🤣

Basil can be a good inside pot plant.
I was going to do rosemary, it's another that can take over, but didn't think I'd use it much, so got sage instead, not that I have used that a lot either!

Managed to weed a space for my first row of parsnips to go in, so actually feel like I've achieved something today rather than just the continuous weeding!
