Hang Out Thread

We are getting excited about our holiday next week 😀 Going to Butlins (for those that don't know it, it is a holiday resort aimed at children in the UK). Abbs is super excited 🙂

Don't move here then 😉 (here being Sweden). Right now I'm looking outside at an overcast sky, rain feels heavy in the air, it's windy and chilly and not at all what I signed up for this summer. I just want the sun to come back. We have custody of it for such a short time. 😛

Happy birthday to you by the way!

Well, Happy Birthday there, @Mcfly311!! We had a warm, sunny, but windy day yesterday. Today is cool and rainy. "Welcome to Minnesota, where the weather is made up and the seasons don't matter." 😀

I introduced myself to someone as 'Lyri' yesterday. Yeah, seriously. I blame Kean; 😛

I'm still working on a better username but as sson as I come up with one, I'll definitely use it as my given name irl.

This is clearly your fault! If you aren't talking to me then it's your real name. IT'S A SIMPLE RULE TO FOLLOW!

I feel ya @Lyri:
I picked my username after a band and now whenever any of my friends mention them offline or on Facebook I'm like "Yes, did you called for me?" - d'oh!

That typo will bug me all day lol
I saw Kings of Leon in Dublin last night. It was an unreal show. The venue was set at the foot of these rolling hills/mountains and they had a fireworks display for the 4th of July. It was brilliant, but I am SO TIRED today. I feel like I've been beaten up. I'm getting to old for this!

that sounds amazing!
Was down and out for a while! Was actually away from home for a MONTH! Me and the little one were both really sick a lot. But it seems the weather has cleared and I am quite happy about it. Home and healthy now. Yay!

Also, I figured out "The Rains of Castamere" on my mandolin. Random tidbit . . . that I am far too proud of . . .I mean . . .what?

A. It's awesome that you play the mandolin.
B. Great song to learn 🙂

I just finished season 4 of Game of Thrones, (and season three) I've been avoiding it for a while cause I got tired of it but now, as always, when I've finished the finale of a show I want more, and right now!! 😛

Went on an all day fishing trip yesterday. I caught one small mouth bass that made me bleed, my cold got worse, and I had to sit in a small boat all day with terrible cramps. OH, and the bottom half of my face is sunburned from the sun reflecting off the lake.

Good thing it was a beautiful day and I like my husband. 🙂

I hate hayfever, been suffering from it badly this year. Gives me an excuse to stay in a test out netflix though. I'm on the free trial and think I'll be keeping it after, there's a wide range of shows and many I haven't heard of or seen so plenty of things for me to get into.

I just learned to play Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins on guitar. I guess it was not a too complicated song, but it really made me feel like not a complete shit for the first time in a while. And I absolutely adored this song since I was a kid (when it first came out) so that really adds to it. Now to try to learn to sing while playing this damn thing...

...So, yeah... I just wanted to share that for some reason.

I am having quite a bittersweet summer. I am about halfway through a great paid internship and I am starting to feel depressed about returning to school in the fall. The stress of school is sometimes so unbearable it doesn't feel worth it. Unfortunately, I need the higher degree if I want to get a steady job in my field.

I only have one more year and I am pretty scared to start the panic of grad school again. My internship has been so wonderful that it has almost felt unreal and I struggle with conflicting emotions of "summer is almost over" and "summer has been so fulfilling and serene".

I don't know. Just some feelings I have been experiencing lately.

hang in there. It's almost done and it will be worth it in the end

I'm in the same boat, I totally feel your pain. School can be ultra stressful, and once you start studying you somewhat get stuck into it if you want work or money. It's a lot of added pressure on something that's already hard enough as it is.

I just entered grad school and I already can't wait to be done. It's not that I don't enjoy the work, but I want to be able to move away and do my own thing for a while without feeling stuck in something.

On the bright side you got a good deal with the paid internship! In what field do you work?

Yeah, I agree. It can be tough. I work in archaeology. Unfortunately to get a real steady job in the field you need at least an M.A. Otherwise I would bypass this whole process haha. Though I have a huge chip on my shoulder because of the education system here in the U.S. I think I might just be jaded.

What are you going to grad school for?
