The Chosen
Time is all around
Hi, guys! This is my first actual "story" here that I intend on sticking to. You might be against the type of Slayer I have in here, but I stick by it. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the Prologue of "Hellmouth."

PROLOGUE
Somewhere Else
The marketplace was busy today.
The fruit mongers were busily trading their homegrown apples and oranges for the local currency – poundsand. The gypsies and fortunetellers all gave their tellings as normal, anxiously awaiting what was to come. Witches and wizards gathered all of their mystical items to be laid out on the town square, offerings. Most everyone had brought at least one important possession to give the second heir to the throne. These gifts were almost all made of gold and copper. Blacksmithed swords and carved wooden bows littered the ground next to arrows and sheathes.
The town fool called out, “Ye clock has struck midnight!”
Everything went silent for a moment. The mongers and gypsies gave each other looks, the wizards and fortunetellers set down their things. Everyone stared up at the large throne set before his or her eyes, glowing a crimsony red. The town leader stepped up to the throne.
“Tonight, thy citizens, thee Chosen One is called!”
The crowd forgot its silence and began cheering. They rushed up to the throne and eagerly waited for the chosen to come forth.
Behind all the ruckus stood a teenaged boy named Legulas. He was holding a peach that his mother had given him to hand to the chosen. He was nervous, for each citizen was to hand their gift personally to the chosen, and he was unfortunately shy. He looked down and gently laid his peach there. Legulas looked up, and awaited the name of the chosen to be dubbed.
The town leader looked out to his peoples. They were all holding their possessions and fruit and weapons to hand to the chosen.
“Citizens of this town,” he boomed, “The Chosen One has been called. We shall call them—“
Everyone fell silent.
“Legulas.”

(And I have no idea how, but J.R.R Tolkien stole my character's name and changed the spelling! How dare he! 🙂)
