Hi, guys! This is my first actual "story" here that I intend on sticking to. You might be against the type of Slayer I have in here, but I stick by it. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the Prologue of "Hellmouth."

PROLOGUE
Somewhere Else
The marketplace was busy today.

The fruit mongers were busily trading their homegrown apples and oranges for the local currency – poundsand. The gypsies and fortunetellers all gave their tellings as normal, anxiously awaiting what was to come. Witches and wizards gathered all of their mystical items to be laid out on the town square, offerings. Most everyone had brought at least one important possession to give the second heir to the throne. These gifts were almost all made of gold and copper. Blacksmithed swords and carved wooden bows littered the ground next to arrows and sheathes.

The town fool called out, “Ye clock has struck midnight!”

Everything went silent for a moment. The mongers and gypsies gave each other looks, the wizards and fortunetellers set down their things. Everyone stared up at the large throne set before his or her eyes, glowing a crimsony red. The town leader stepped up to the throne.

“Tonight, thy citizens, thee Chosen One is called!”

The crowd forgot its silence and began cheering. They rushed up to the throne and eagerly waited for the chosen to come forth.

Behind all the ruckus stood a teenaged boy named Legulas. He was holding a peach that his mother had given him to hand to the chosen. He was nervous, for each citizen was to hand their gift personally to the chosen, and he was unfortunately shy. He looked down and gently laid his peach there. Legulas looked up, and awaited the name of the chosen to be dubbed.

The town leader looked out to his peoples. They were all holding their possessions and fruit and weapons to hand to the chosen.

“Citizens of this town,” he boomed, “The Chosen One has been called. We shall call them—“

Everyone fell silent.

“Legulas.”

(And I have no idea how, but J.R.R Tolkien stole my character's name and changed the spelling! How dare he! 🙂)

I know I ain't sposed to double post, but here's more! 🙂

CHAPTER ONE
Somewhere Else
Months had passed since Legulas was called as the Slayer of Braestus. The town had been very interested in how the Slayer worked, considering Legulas was the first they had seen. The first Slayer at all, actually. They all eagerly watched as he trained by the cemetery, and many stayed up at night to watch him slay the beasts that had threatened them for so long. The historians all wrote down as much as they could while the mystically inclined continuously worked on protection spells.

Tonight was no different, except Legulas’ superior, the town leader—Cerubius—would not accompany him. He did not feel alone though, as the town was still perched at their normal spot beyond the gates.

Legulas opened the large brass gate to reveal a field of stones and flowers. He was wielding a silver sword and a short spear. His short hair rippled in the wind. He couldn’t have taken two steps before the former town fool dug himself out of his slumber. He glanced at the town, and then looked at Legulas.

“Though art thee Slayer…” he said, getting down to bow. And then he realized. He looked up from his bowing position. “Though art thee…thee Slayer…”

He got up and gnarled. He swept his hand forward, leaving three scratches on the Slayer’s battle armor. Legulas whipped his leg up, cracking the vampire across the jaw. He lifted his sword and gripped his stake. Battle ready he sprinted up to his foe. The vampire was already up and dusting himself off when he felt the sword pierce his stomach.

The vampire hissed.

Legulas grinned.

The vampire kicked Legulas’ shin, sending him back in shock. The vampire drew the sword from his body and jumped forth, tackling the Slayer. The two rolled for a moment before Legulas kicked his enemy off of him. He buckled forward, launching himself in the air. He landed well and kneeled down.

“I am sorry,” he said just before stabbing the vampire to his death. Dust engulfed the air where the town fool used to be. Legulas looked back behind him to find a cheering crowd.

“You should not be cheering at the death of this man!” he cried. “He may have been given a degrading label, but that is due to our own society! You all should be ashamed!”

The crowd stopped cheering and blankly stared at him. Suddenly, breaking the silence, came Cerubius and a wizard.

“Slayer!” cried Cerubius. “You must prepare!”

Legulas looked confused, as did the town.

“Now!” boomed Cerubius. “’Tis coming!”

Legulas tilted his head. “What is coming?”

A loud sound of stampeding feet suddenly sounded off in the distance. Legulas suddenly began to notice the town’s shocked and scared faces. Many of them began to flee. Legulas glanced at Cerubius and began to slowly turn around.

An army. An army of demons, vampires, and a rather large ogre.

“The apocalypse!” cried Cerubius. He turned to the remaining villagers. “Quick! Gather your weapons! Get all of the men and boys!” Cerubius paused before adding, “A war has begun!”

CHAPTER TWO
Somewhere Else
Legulas slowly began to back away from the war. He began to turn to start to run until he noticed all of the male villagers making their way towards him. They were backing him up. They were going to help fight.

Reassured, Legulas turned back around, and with a smile on his face. His sword raised, he charges.

------------------

Going into the fray isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be… thought Exus, a shop owner as he efficiently inserted his axe into an oncoming demon. Slash! Another one bites the dust. Exus lands a punch to a demon’s face before decapitating a vampire. He watches the dust scatter, only to reveal a blue vortex in it’s way. It’s small and seemingly harmless. He lifts his finger close to it, and his finger begins to stretch and get sucked in. He quickly pulls it out just as a vampire pounces and slaughters him.

------------------

Legulas gets flung backwards and lands hard. He rolls back and lands on his feet. He jumps forth and kicks a vampire in the head. He falls to the ground and curls into a roll. He twists upwards and beheads a demon. He turns around suddenly, as if his instincts were telling him something. He sees it.

The vortex.

It’s growing bigger every minute, feeding off the life force that is Braestus. He tilts his head, as if he is remembering something.

”This, Legulas,” Cerubius said to him, “is a vortex. It can and will suck up everything in its path. Even you. It is created by something very powerful. That something can take place here, or somewhere else…”

Legulas nodded and pulled the book towards him. He looked up at his superior.

“Where’s somewhere else?”

Legulas groaned just before setting himself off into a sprint.

“Everyone out!” he cried. “Go! Now!”

The town started to flood out at the orders of the Slayer. Legulas stared into the vortex, as if it were giving him information. His eyes brightened with realization.

He jumped in.

Are you guys liking this story? I was just wondering if I should continue. 🙂

A decent effort, son. :: tu ::

Do not be discouraged whenever you post a story in here, young man.
It's always been this way here on BB. Not a lot of members read the fanfic around here....and those that do are too lazy to post their opinion. 😛
I know you'd like a little feedback on your efforts, and that's natural. For now, take it as a consolation that your tale IS being read.

As for your little tale so far, I find it interesting enough. You should continue adding to it when you get the chance, hone your writing skills. Come on, let's see some more from ya. :: tu ::

Hone my writing skills...xD Am I really that bad? ??? I never noticed that...ah, well...I'm better at writing scripts anyway! 🙂

I might update sometime soon. I have an excellent idea on how this will go. It involves another Slayer and yes, it will also involve a Hellmouth.
