Hello Darkness My Old Friend

He's been doing pretty well as a director though - I highly recommend Argo. Not seen the others he's directed, but heard good things. I don't think he's done too badly overall, yeah he's done some duff movies in the past but some of his more recent acting gigs I've seen (Argo, Gone Girl) has been brilliant.

Oh for sure. I think directing movies is his calling. He started off on the creative side of making movies, it makes sense he has that in him.

Tbh, it's almost an odd choice for him to play Batman, other than because it's the goddamn Batman. Not that he can't do it, from what I hear he was amazing, but it almost seems above him these days considering the classy movies he's making himself.

But it's been his lifelong dream to play Batman. From when he first started acted he talked about dreaming of playing Batman. That's why he initially turned down Daredevil as he feared that that would preclude him from being Batman. So yeah, I understand why he did not now, even though he seemed to 'outgrow' the role.

It is odd he would do it after becoming such an acclaimed director, but given the opportunity, I don't think anyone would turn down a plum role like Batman. And by all accounts he is a fine Bruce Wayne. I just hope he doesn't become too bogged down in the DCEU and not have opportunity to direct any more of his own films. That'd be such a waste.

I would imagine he will be able to direct more. And more avant garde films, if he so desires. I would imagine after what BvS has done at the box office WB would give him carte blanche to make any movie he wants to keep him happy.

What I mean is, I hope he has the time. I expect he's signed to a multi-contract deal with WB for Justice League movies, future Batman movies etc. I hope he's given sufficient time off to do his own directorial projects.

Right now he's trying hard to make his own Batman. Affleck is only contractually signed on for the two Justice League movies. Originally they were not even going to think about a Batman film until after 2020 and were going to go with a different actor for the role. But Affleck went off on his on (during breaks in filming and the movie promotion) and wrote a script (and he is working on two more) and is trying to get WB to produce it and start it next year.

So right now the film he wants to do is Batman.

The sadaffleck meme is hilarious. I kinda feel bad for him, but it's so funny. I can't judge him as Batman, haven't seen the movie yet!

Feel bad for him? He's laughing all the way to the bank! And if no one wants him for acting, he can direct. A lot of people on this board would love to trade problems with him.
