I love things that deal with fate and predetermination...

I welled up during Dawn's discourse... it was so touching

goodness this was the best epp of Season 7!!

Buffy's role as a guidance counselor is tested when she tries to help a student who claims she is able to foretell her own, imminent death. Meanwhile, Anya struggles with being a vengeance demon.

Well Craig has seen Buffy 7.4(that's me btw)

Well first off let me say this episode took a little different tone and a different approach than we've seen so far this season, possibly on Buffy period.

We're setup to see that as a counselor, Buffy will now have to deal with things in more a human way than a super-hero way. This actually kind of reminded me of Angel Investigations. Suddenly the baddies are not as obvious as days of old. In order to understand what they are fighting, they must understand the person with the problem first.

I thought it was refreshing and quite heart felt seeing Willow visit Tara's grave. Seeing her back on the internet also reminded me of days of old. I think we can officially say, Willow is back. Her line to Xander "I'm over you now sweetie" pretty much ended any Xander and Willow getting together speculation.

Overall I found the story with Cassie the partial seer pretty boring. Buffy showed great intuition in attempting to save her. At the end though I have a feeling I wasn't the only one disappointed to see her fall dead of heart failure. It left me thinking, so what was the point of this episode? The ending scene left us with Dawn saying "It doesn't matter that you couldn't save her from the inevitable. What matters is that you tried." Interesting point but it showed me more that little Dawnie is growing up. I did find the whole scene with the guy asking her if she had a date to winter formal and then making a fool out of her unrealistic. I have to ask what moron would not wanna go with Michelle Trachtenberg

Anya was completely absent from this episode as previously stated except for next weeks preview. For those of you missing her, it looks as if you'll get plenty next week as the Vegeance Demon Saga continues.

So Cassie tells Spike "One day she'll tell you". Obviously the first thought that comes to our mind is she meant Buffy. I know Joss better than that though, this line had great signifigance. The question is, what did she actually mean? Oh and that's our world of Buffy which leaves us the rest of the week to ponder.. "So what happens next?"
 
OK, here's my take!

This isn't the best episode, but I did like the scene between Spike and Buffy for once. I don't know, it was just different somehow. It wasn't all angst. Buffy is dealing with Spike differently. That was nice.

Dawn and Willow are competing a bit. Dawn took over being research girl, but then Will came back and now Dawn's displaced. My bet is there will be a confrontation in the future. Hopefully they will come to a reconciliation at some point though. I like Will and Dawn.

The scene at Tara's grave made me mad though. I wasn't a huge Willow/Tara fan, but that scene was poignant and I could tell I was gonna cry"¦..And they totally cut it short!! NO FAIR!!!

And Cassie dying at the end was"¦.I dunno, ineffective. I understand what they were trying to do, but I don't think they quite got there. Disappointing, because they could have done better.

OK, now for the real issue"¦"¦ (Obsessive rant alert)

First it was Istanbul. Then the comment about the werewolf. Now we have Willow's love poems "Back in the day"??? All I can say is, Joss Whedon, you better not just be messing with us, you've got to give us the payoff!!!!

(End of rant. I'm sure you guys are sick of me obsessing by now. But Sorry. Not gonna stop!)
 
At first I had this whole vibe that Cassie was one of the next Europe girls... and had psychic premonitions that they were going to kill her. I guess not. I can see the point in making her die at the end... but it was weirdly done. she just... froze. And what happened to stupid boy who got bitten? does he just get let go?

I didn't think this was too good an episode... one thing that bothers me about Spike is that everytime we see him as crazy... his hair's all curly. Everytime he comes to the rescue, he's all slicked. Does he take the TIME to put in that nancy-boy hair gel before rushing to save Buffy's butt?

And I dunno.... there's SOMETHING about Xander this year... he's just hot! his voice was really sexy this ep. it's weird, because I've never particularily liked him before. Or... it could be that I'm so completely sex/love starved that I falling for guys who are so not my type. lol.

When Buffy was talking to that boy with the Marine brother... or... not talking to him, I got this WHOLE Good Will Hunting vibe... when they're in the office for an hour and don't talk at all... it was good.
 
Holy cow that's a magnificent point Buffy. What if the Spike that's coming to the rescue or the crazy one isn't really Spike! 🙂
 
I really liked this episode. A lot. It's not like most other Buffy episodes. Buffy had to take a more real life approch on this one. I enjoyed that very much.

I think Cassie dying in the end was good. It explained the whole message of the show. I didn't understand the crossbow at her head thing. (Can anybody explain why a crossbow would be rigged right there?)

I got all chocked up on the willow at tara's grave scene. I miss Tara so much. I'm glad to know there will be nothing between Xander/Willow. I thought it would happen and was dreading it.

Season 7 is getting off to a good start. I can't wait to see what's in store. I just wish they would stop basing everything around Sunnydale HS.
 
OMG!!! Did anyone else want to cry during this ep? Man, I really didn't want Cassie to die and then all of a sudden she keeled over. My eyes were filling with tears.🙁 Poor Buffy. I think that she is doing a good job trying to help the kids. This was really a good episode.

I was wondering about that, too. And does getting bitten by the demon have any interesting side effects (like turning him into one) that will come back to haunt them in a later episode? In fact, is the demon itself really dead?

In the scene where the scary guys are doing the ritual, the leader asks one of the other guys about the doors. The guy said he booby trapped them so so one can get in or go out.


The scene where Buffy was talking to the kid to find out what was going on really bothered me. She threatened him, and that was a little creepy to have someone in an authority role threaten a student. It's not like she's still in highschhool talking to her peers. She needs to tone it down a bit.
 
Very good episode overall, I really liked Cassie and Mike and was really hoping they'd end up being Dawn's regular friends in the school, who knows, we may yet see Mike again. As far as Home Improvement Kid(the guy that played the bad guy), I was honestly wondering who called him an ass, was it Dawn, or was MT the one calling the actor an ass? Anyway, he must be freaking gay or something if he was messing with her like that. Also, nice scene at the graveyard with Willow. Really still upset that Cassie bit the big one though, she had amazing charecter potential.
 
The thing with the guy asking Dawn out was to distract her so they could grab Cassie. At least that's how it looked to me. And why would it have been MT reacting to the Actor? Do you not think it was in the script?

I too am sorry that Cassie died. She and Michael would have been cool to have around.
 
lol I find it funny how at the end of the Home Improvement show that guy was in college, but now he plays a high school student.. But *anyways*...

Another good episode.. what more is there to say? This season is being really good so far, and they're making us wait for an explanation about that last scene from the first episode.. I like that, the suspense is good. Also, I'm sad that Cassie died, I was starting to like her. So yeah, thats about it from me..
 
I really liked this episode. My favorite part was Willow visiting Tara's grave. I cried like a baby at that. At first, I didn't know who she whose grave she was visiting; I had completely forgotten about Tara🙁 (horrible, I know). I was thinking, Is she going to go visit Warren?? She sure as hell better not! But when I saw Tara's name, my eyes turned into a waterfall. Seriously, I was so upset that I forgot all about Tara. I agree with Willow (the character), Xander's analogy about control and power was pretty good. Lol.

I thought Michelle did some great acting at the end of the episode where Dawn was telling Buffy it wasn't her fault. I thought the same thing as Buffy Ann Summers, I thought Cassie was going to be on of the "soon-to-be Slayer" girls and those black-robe dudes were going to kill her. Clearly, I was wrong. 😛 I kind of knew that Cassie was definitely going to die at the end of the episode, but I wasn't thinking heart attack! That sucks. I'd pick Cassie and Mike over Carlos and Kit any day, but so far it doesn't look like we have to worry about them being around. And that kid that came to Buffy because he was worried about his brother joining the navy, he was hot🙄 and I thought his scene was really touching. I hope he comes back for another episode or something sometime. Overall, great episode.

Ok Scoobies, here's my review.
The best ep yet.
It kinda wasn't about the plot, but who cares.
It had Will finally dealing with Tara's death, Spike being his crazy self [and that part where Cassie told him...beautiful], and, did we a villian in the Home Improvement guy...who knows.
Once again, great ep with a great ending.

Power§puff_Girl, you have to watch it on YTV huh? I used to have to wait till Saturdays, I feel your pain.

I ::heart:: 'ed this ep. I've always loved Azura Sky and she was so great in this ep. As someone said, I don't think the "She'll tell you someday" line was about Buffy. Knowing Joss, it's something completely unexpected. And I'm actually starting to like Dawn. Her line in the end scene was so true.

I feel the same way. She was rather out of line with the kid.
