Let me begin this by saying that I love Highlander, both the movie and the television show. I saw both versions of H2 and still didn't give up hope. H3 sort of left me confused, but still, the action was pretty good. I had real hopes for H4, even though it abandoned the whole "Connor was the winner," concept. After all, by that time, Duncan was my favorite Macleod anyhow.

Then came "Highlander-The Source," the proposed first installment of a trilogy, not only starring Adrian Paul, but, finally, offering a reason for the existance of the race of Immortals (forget about the Planet Zeist crap, PLEASE!!!). My hopes began to rise.

Then I saw the movie on the SciFi channel...

Don't waste your time.

I have always prided myself in finding something enjoyable in every movie that I have ever seen. I even managed to grin once or twice in the butchery that was made of Poul Anderson's "The High Crusade." "Highlander-The Source," however, manages to accomplish something for me that no other movie in my 60 years of life has managed to do: make me not only hate it, but hate the producers, directors, and actors involved in this abomination for robbing me of two hours of my life that I might have spent more comstructavelt picking lint out from between my toes.

In case you might have still missed my subtle opinion of this...(I would say dog, but I LIKE dogs)...AVOID AT ALL COSTS. be assured, you will thank me for the warning.

I saw it too, the pre-official version so not sure if I missed something, but it was crap. Nothing in it made any sense and I was just left wondering how the hell they ended up with something like that. The main villain sucked. The ending sucked.

I felt like they started with an exceptionally poor script to begin with and then either ran out of money or maybe half the cast members walked out so the movie had tons of gaps that were left unfilled, and hence it just came off as nonsensical.

Yeah, I never was a huge fan of the Highlander movies (wasn't really a Connor fan) but Highlander: The Series was one of my favorite childhood shows (got into it because my parents liked it). I could talk about how great the series was all day, but that's not really what this thread's about.

Anyways, I taped The Source and watched it the day after it premiered on Scifi. Wow. I don't know how they did it. It's like the people that thought up the story were trying to make it as idiotic as possible. Now I thought Endgame (the last Highlander movie before this one, with Duncan and Connor) was subpar and really didn't live up to how great it could've been. But The Source makes it look like a masterpiece!

You might see the cast list and think "Wow, they got Duncan, Methos, and Joe back, this can't be that bad." Nope, they managed to ruin each character. You might think that it's still Highlander, that means good swordfights right? There are no real swordfights. Every one is sped up or slowed down or some weird effect is done to make it seem like a cheap Matrix knock off with swords. They even managed to ruin the music!

Honestly, when I watched this, I was laughing half the time. It's so bad it's kinda funny, until you realize this is Highlander, and this movie is the worst thing that could've happened to the franchise. Anyways I'm done ranting, just felt like letting out some frustration about this "movie."

Endgame wasn't too bad, though I thought that Lambert should have been left out entirely. He's just too old to play a youthful Connor anymore. I bought the director's cut, which actualy had a second version of the movie that filled in a few of the gaps. Neither was really great, though.
