I thought it was great, but...
I'm still waiting for HIMYM to get back to its roots.
I really liked the Victoria-arc because it had Ted as the hopeless romantic and Barney as the Awe-{wait for it}-some Bachelor. The two balanced each other out really well.
Then for a while, as Marshall put it, Ted was turning into Barney, and I thought the episodes were a little weaker. And now it looks like Barney might be turning into Ted.
I'd love to see Robin & Barney end up together, but I'd say break them up for now, and bring them together in the final leg of the series.
I also would like to see Ted getting more attention like in S1 & 2. Recently the screen time has been pretty even amongst the characters, which is probably due to NPH & Jason's rising fame. But while Barney's my favorite character, I think focus should stay on the star.
And most importantly, I often see the show compared to Friends, which I don't really see as apt, but I can say I easily enjoy HIMYM more.
HIMYM pushed the envelope, where Friends mostly kept the status-quo. I like Friends, but it was rare that I'd be dying of laughter or shed a tear from a Friends episode.
With HIMYM, the episode where Ted met Victoria was one of the most heartfelt episodes I'd seen on a sitcom, same with the one where Marshall picked up Lily from the Airport with the Marching Band. And more than not, HIMYM episodes have me dying of laughter.
I hope they manage to keep that up with Ted's new job & Barney & Robin's new relationship...
