[HIMYM] 5.01 "Definitions" - Aired 9/21/09 (CBS-US)

I loved it! I think that Alyson looks really different with her hair though.
I love how Lily tries to get Barney and Robin to have "the talk", and they end up "happy" at the end.
I'm anxious to see the rest. I didn't really understand the whole Marshall in a suit business.
I thought Ted being in the wrong classroom was funny. "Don't call me T-Dog." Haha.
I thought that the blonde girl in the first class was the mother, but I guess not.
I'm really excited for next week, I'd been waiting for the premiere for five months. :/

Well the season premiere was great! 🙂
The pros definitely outweighed the cons.

Ted was hilarious as he switched between cool and authorive Teacher haha.
The tux scene at then end was funny ("Didn't we meet on a yacht?" haha) and Alyson's hair is becoming red again 😀

I'm still a little sketchy about the whole Barney and Robin relationship but we'll see where that takes us. Atleast we got a good joke out of it 🙂

Barnman and Robin.. Classic.

I loved it! Ted giving his architecture lecture to all the economics guys was SO funny. Well, and I guess that tells us a bit more about the mother, apparently she does economics.
What else just cracked me up was the "We just like elaborate lies" business....that is SO Barney!
And I could see from the beginning that Robin and Barney were still having sex (despite what they sad first), so that was completely not unexpected, but still really good for my little shipper heart 😀

So, so, so good!

The bit with Prof(f)ssor Mosby was hilarious, as was Lily's manic teary devouring of the ice cream.

I officially support Barney and Robin together, so cute.

Great start of the season.

Especially loved the bits with Ted in the wrong classroom, brilliant.

I'm still not convinced that Barney should be in any kind of relationship... even though I must admit that the Barney/Robin story this episode was quite funny.

Ok. So since Ted was in the wrong classroom he might not meet his future wife for yet x years. Not like he'll go back to that classroom for quite some time now. It can be something they found out when they do actually get together. So much for some people getting their hopes up for us seeing her. But it should have been expected right?

Or am I just confused and he's been talking about his "real" classroom when he said the mother was in the classroom?

Surely the mother was in the "wrong" classroom.
They even pan around the room when he said she was in that classroom.

So, I guess it still can take awhile before we get to meet her.
Which was expected and that's okay for me. I don't need to see her until the end of the series and since I think they are still doing great I hope it will last for some more years.

I didn't like Ted's plot this episode at all but the rest was great - even though I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning Barney and Robin still had sex.
I don't particularly like the Barney/Robin ship, I love them as bros but they're starting to grow on me as a couple. And I have to admit, they fit together well. Hope they're not screwing that up. The end with Lily being all "They don't know they didn't lie" and them holding hands was so sweet.

I thought it was great, but...

I'm still waiting for HIMYM to get back to its roots.

I really liked the Victoria-arc because it had Ted as the hopeless romantic and Barney as the Awe-{wait for it}-some Bachelor. The two balanced each other out really well.

Then for a while, as Marshall put it, Ted was turning into Barney, and I thought the episodes were a little weaker. And now it looks like Barney might be turning into Ted.

I'd love to see Robin & Barney end up together, but I'd say break them up for now, and bring them together in the final leg of the series.

I also would like to see Ted getting more attention like in S1 & 2. Recently the screen time has been pretty even amongst the characters, which is probably due to NPH & Jason's rising fame. But while Barney's my favorite character, I think focus should stay on the star.

And most importantly, I often see the show compared to Friends, which I don't really see as apt, but I can say I easily enjoy HIMYM more.

HIMYM pushed the envelope, where Friends mostly kept the status-quo. I like Friends, but it was rare that I'd be dying of laughter or shed a tear from a Friends episode.

With HIMYM, the episode where Ted met Victoria was one of the most heartfelt episodes I'd seen on a sitcom, same with the one where Marshall picked up Lily from the Airport with the Marching Band. And more than not, HIMYM episodes have me dying of laughter.

I hope they manage to keep that up with Ted's new job & Barney & Robin's new relationship...

^Never mind. This week's ep was great, and Ted's heartfelt storyline was topnotch.

I thought Marshall's fantasy sequence was a little long, and neither him nor Barney were really bringing their A-Game, but their B-Game is still better than most.

Robin was alright, but her part was pretty small. The Lily Doppelganger idea was brilliant, but it might have been executed better. But I'm a little biased since I thought Alyson Doppelganger ep on Buffy was amazing, and it's not fair to compare Vamp Willow to Stripper Lily 😛
