I've called this holiday instead of Christmas, so it won't have to rest untouched after December ends 🙂

I've recently realized how many Christmas movies - classic or otherwise - I haven't seen, and I thought maybe we could have this thread to introduce each other to fun or meaningful movies to get us all into the spirit of the holiday.

My go-to Christmas movies are Die Hard 1 & 2, Gremlins 1, both Home Alone, and the Christmas episodes of shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Friends, The Nanny and other feel-good shows.

My goal this year is to actually, finally, watch movies like It's a Wonderful Life (I know, I suck) and other classics.

I'd also recommend White Christmas, saw it 3 years ago on Christmas day and I still can't get it (or the songs) out of my head.

Someone made me watch It's a Wonderful Life. It was okay, but way overrated, IMO.

I've been thinking about watching that ever since I watched the remake a few years back; as fun as it was to see MT in it... yeah, that's all I have to say about that.
 
Thanks, @MarieVampSlayer I'm adding The Holiday and Nightmare Before Christmas to my watch-list; I've watched and enjoyed them both before. Technically I should be watching Nightmare every year, a new tradition! 😀

I forgot about Go.
I'm not sure if you've seen any of these or not, but my favourite Christmas movies are:

Family movies:
- Miracle on 34th street
- The polar express
-The Grinch
- The nightmare before Christmas

Movies for an older age range:
- Bad Santa

They're all very festive and fun!
 
I always watch The Holiday and Love Actually. I also love While You Were Sleeping, a little romcom from the 90s starring Sandy Bullock. I kind of count Little Women as a holiday movie too, given that it starts with Christmas and then a big moment of the film happens halfway through again at Christmas.
 
It is a tradition in my family to watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation while we decorate our tree.

My other go to Christmas movie is a must see at some point during the holidays is Trading Places.

"MERRY NEW YEAR!."

I also enjoy any and all horrible Hallmark Christmas movies. The cheesier and more awful the acting the better!

My tradition is to watch the movie Sitting Pretty at Christmas time. It's not a Christmas movie but I caught it on a classic movie channel on Christmas Eve one year and made an annual thing of it. I adore Maureen O'Hara.
 
Other than those already named, "A Christmas Story" is one of our favorites (A Christmas Story (1983) - IMDb) and just about any version of "A Christmas Carol," (I prefer either the George C Scott one or the Patrick Stewart ones) and, if you're looking for something unusual, try the old classic John Wayne western, "3 Godfathers."
