We have a pictures of you thread. Why not a pictures of your hometown thread?

(I did this in Drogyn awhile ago, but I'm bringing it to the main boards now....so if the pictures look familiar, you may have already seen them.)

So this is northeast Iowa, where weirdos like me come into the world.

This is the park by my parent's house where I caused trouble as a youth.

Just a different view of the river.

Same place when we got flooded last year!

Okay, let's see what else you people got.

your park reminds me of my park.
I took a few in the brief moment of sunshine we got a week or so ago and put them on Twitter. I can literally step out my back door and fall into Middle Earth, it's great.

Here's a little bit further along the river. It's brown because it had been raining torrentially for days beforehand; it's normally quite clear. Not because it's made of chocolate, or...other brown things...like some people suggested.

Revolver agrees: Wouldn't it be cool if it were made of chocolate though?

The local Council tried to implement that one year, but the Oompa-Loompa infestation got totally out of hand. It wasn't worth it. You couldn't walk down the street without being lectured at in repetitive verse. It was horrible...

I live in the city, the very centre (Glasgow, Scotland). But weirly, right next to one of the main rivers, the Kelvin. So we have a lovely walkway right next to our street, so it's not all bad.

Canal! Love a good canal, me.
I pretty much figure everyone knows the general gist of what New York City looks like, so here are some photos I found of the area where I am (on central park west in the early 80s. The streets I mean, not the decade). I know I could have gone out and taken photos (and made myself look like such an utter tourist) but it's been thunderstorming like non-stop lately and has only just today swapped for sweltering heat so generally any photos I take right now would not look too faboo 😉.

I'll admit I'm an uptown girl and I will never be anything else NYC wise. I know lots of people are like 'I hate uptown. Real New York is Midtown and Union Square etc', but as much as I like going to around the Flatiron District, I don't think I could live around there and I do love the tourist hubub that is the Theater District and Times Square, but home will always be Central Park on the Upper West Side. It's just perdier....and the museums are like, so so close. 🙂.

NY reminds me of Glasgow
Okay. So I decided to take some pictures around my work, as I spend so much time there that it's practically home!!!

Okay firstly I'll start with the prettier pictures. The park is across the road from my work. In this first one it's Parliament House at the end of the street (but the back end of it, so it doesn't look very spectacular!)

IMG_0050.jpg

And, the nasty 'smoking area' out the back. I would like to point out the strangeness of the random shoe in the first picture. I don't know where it came from but I don't want to touch it... And I love that the weeds are taking over the carpark!

I'd also like to point out that the park photos aren't shopped. Perth just has the best and most beautiful coloured sky in the world!

I'm gonna rival Perth with some beach shots of the east side 😛

Where I used to live...where I want to go back to living....Tugun, south end of the Gold Coast....the not tacky part....

What happens when you live in a small town it seems there's not that many pice to choose from online. So I just have to show you some of the few that's available.

I live in Birmingham. Got a few pics of the city centre here, took them a couple of months ago. Dunno if they're that interesting... but oh well 😀

This is the Selfridges building at the Bull Ring. When it was first built, lots of people hated the design - but in the last few years people have become accustomed to it and now it's one of the most prominent images of Birmingham.

DSCF3810.jpg

Looking down the centre of the Bull Ring, you can see the Rotunda in the background (the big round building). A few years ago, they wanted to knock it down, but there was outcry - so now they've turned it into apartments.

Just some images I found online.

The very centre of the town, used to look pretty at night but they don't run the fountain and lights anymore 🙁

warrington_barley_mow_pub_2577_1024x768.jpg

The Barley Mow pub, one of my favourite places to drink, also the oldest pub in Warrington.

The Golden Gates outside the Mayoress' house, all the childran walk through them on Warrington Walking Day, it was created to stop Fathers going to Aintree Horse Racing and spend time with their children on the first Friday in July in the 1930s I think it was.

p87551-Warrington_England-The_Mad_Hatters_Tea_Party.jpg

We have this opposite the Barley Mow, I don't even know why we have it but I remember climbing on it all the time as a child.

p87536-Warrington_England-Warrington_Parish_Church.jpg

And finally the Warrington Parish Church, it has the third tallest spire in England and it looks real pretty at night when it's lit up.

Great photos. And that last photo is super pretty!
Wow! You guys all live in really beautiful places (especially you UK-ers, I'm so jealous!). But all the same, I've really found it interesting looking through these photos, it all looks so different from my area. So here's some recent scenic shots from my small town, Canada that I like to call home 🙂
