When Giles and Buffy find out that Jenny knew about Angel's curse, they are angry. Was this justified or should they have forgiven her (sooner)?
My recollection was that she knew a fair amount of the curse details but hadn't realised Buffy and Angel had got to that stage. I thought she was monitoring the situation but failed to intervene in time. I'd need to check that though. Also i am not completely sure Jenny knew Angel may lose his soul. If i remember correctly, she was told by her walking stereotype of an uncle to keep Bangel apart and ensure Angel'd continue suffering?
So she didn't know the details just that it was important, read dangerous. The sort of thing that probably should be mentioned when dealing with Angelus.I didn't know... exactly. I was told... Oh, God. I was sent here to watch you. They told me to keep you and Angel apart. They never told me what would happen.
Seems like uncle was a bit vague on purpose. Jenny may have thought he meant "if he has one moment of happines ..." (then - our vegenance failed or something like that.)Uncle Enyos says something to her in the computer lab about "if he has one moment of happiness...", so it seemed like she knew.
Just a thought about the whole gypsy curse and Jenny's family: one of the gypsies said that wasn't justice that they served, it was vengeance. And it was vengeance against Angelus - and only Angelus - the one who killed "the most beloved daughter" of their tribe.
Spike was the one who killed an entire tribe (or family, at least), Darla killed the leader of them and Dru probably killed someone at the encampment - and no gypsy bothered to curse any of the three vampires.
Centuries of dedicated hate because of some special girl whose life was considered more valuable than others. I'm with Ilona from Italy: the gypsies are filthy people! We will speak of them no more!
Wouldn't it be a plot twist to learn that the special girl was a slayer!
I think it was a bit unfair of them to judge her. One, as mentioned, she didn't truly know what she was doing. And secondly, she did everything out of allegiance to her family. She went in thinking she was keeping track and watching a vampire with a soul that tortured and murdered her family, on paper, it 100% sounds like it's the right thing to do. I do think that Jenny believed she was helping her family, and that she was helping keeping Angelus at bay. One moment of happiness can be interpreted in so many ways, I don't think she necessarily thought something literal would happen. It almost sounded like her mission was simply to keep Angel unhappy, which makes sense with the grudge her family had against him.
I think the one mistake she made is not coming clean earlier. Once she realized she was falling for Giles, once she realized who Angel really was, and who the Scoobies really were, she should have approached them about it. I can see why she didn't. Sometimes you get stuck into something and you don't know the way out, and you just dig your own grave deeper and deeper.
I still think they should have forgiven her sooner. Giles should have sat down with her and had a serious talk. As for Willow and Xander, and even Buffy, it felt like they were mad at her out of allegiance to Angel, and to Giles. That is exactly what Jenny herself was doing by following her family. Two wrong don't make a right. Also, they should have worked together to solve the problem. Had they done that, Jenny would likely still be alive, and they would have restored Angel's soul much sooner. Jenny was their most powerful tool to fight Angelus, and they stayed mad at her out of hurt and pride.

But the remaining clan kept an eye on Angel, to make sure he would suffer forever.

So, taggin Jenny with all the blame was short sighted.
I think what bothers me the most is that by priciple I'm not keen of people who hold grudges, least of families that hold it for centuries, and raise their children to hate and seek vengeance. Jenny, being an informed woman, could have questioned the whole thing, thus preventing her own death, maybe.
She didn't seem all that revengeful to me, but wanting to keep a vampire at bay only seems logical.
