Hot Topic: Were Giles and Buffy justified in being angry with Jenny?

I did think they were justified. I always thought that Jenny was a little hypocritical with her treatment with Giles. Only weeks before she had made him feel awful for putting her in danger and she had been withholding information which was equally as dangerous.

I take your point, but I do think that's a different case. Besides I don't think she was actually angry with Giles as such just that she was in such a state as a result of what happened than she needed some space. Also, I remember her being quicker to forgive than Giles and Buffy were.

I think they justified in being angry with Jenny but they took it way to far . They thought she should have
open with them without thinking that she was torn between them & her family. Buffy should taken that
into consideration. And Giles should have realized how it was to break away from family . So yes yell
at her but no in being so strong about it .

Just one example - in the same episode Buffy complains to Giles that Angel entered her house while they slept. She was panicking and wanted to warn Joyce. Instead, Giles advised her to suck it, not to tell Joyce and wait patiently for him to came up with a solution and was chavalier about the whole situation, saying she should just ignore Angel.

Yeah - deliberate irony there. He's gonna try and get under your skin but you have to keep your cool. Then Jenny is murdered and Giles suddenly finds out that Angelus will do far more than annoy and taunt.

Centuries of dedicated hate because of some special girl whose life was considered more valuable than others. I'm with Ilona from Italy: the gypsies are filthy people! We will speak of them no more!

I always wondered if she crapped gold coins. I have to say though, that I found Ilona's comment extremely repulsive. To make a comment like that for any group - just to make a joke - nope.

It would, but I think her specialeness came from her "blue blood"...

I've read a fair amount on the Roma - and none of this is in any way true to their culture. It's kinda like the Chumash, only a lot more derogatory. We can start with the fact that the Rom way of dealing with death is to burn all the person's possessions and never speak of them again. Were this actual Rom, they would actually forcing their special girl into the hell of never being able to move on.

So she didn't know the details just that it was important, read dangerous. The sort of thing that probably should be mentioned when dealing with Angelus.

It would have been awesome if Jenny had told them what she knew, ultimately I don't think it would have kept a 17 yr old love struck gal from celebrating her birthday by loving up her boyfriend. So, taggin Jenny with all the blame was short sighted.

The irony of this whole thing is that, by that point, the one who would want the most to be certain that the soul stayed put was Angel...

How could any teacher think she could monitor even the 17 year old - let alone both of them? I mean, there are many more hours spent away from school - and she knew Buffy and Angel frequently spent time together in the evenings patrolling. Had she gone to Giles at the beginning and told him, privately, what she knew - he could have given the information to Angel.

I like the way Giles supported Buffy - it really was her call.
