In "Chosen", what did you think of it?

I'm definitely "Mad; They Should've Given Her A Proper Goodbye". If it was not the last episode, I would've been MORE mad, but the fact that she was killed off in an instant and that no one recognized that she was killed except for Andrew and Xander made me SO mad. WTF?! Willow, at least, should be sad. What about Dawn? Buffy!? Seriously? /rant

: laugh : What do you guys think?

Me too. Maybe no one there was sad... I was, and I'm sure Xander was too. I thought it was really cute when Xander said: "That's my girls always doin' the stupid thing" That ep made me cry

I just think Buffy and everyone hadn't really noticed yet, I mean A LOT happened.

I don't know if there is a person alive who didn't cry at that episode :-)
I wanted to stab Joss a thousand times. Even if it was Emma's choice. I love her so much. Her and Cordy are my favorites and they both died! 🙁

That ep didn't make me cry, but it almost did: not in a good way LOL! In the way that made me want to yell at Joss Whedon for doing so many stupid things in the final episode. But that is for another thread, for another day haha.

Yes, maybe Buffy/Willow/Dawn didn't really care about her, but they love Xander, so they should've AT LEAST cared for Xander and comforted him 🙁

I think Buffy/Dawn/Willow DEFF grew to love her though! :D
I am still screaming WHY OH GOD WHY at my tv when I see it , she was so lovable and cute , I mean couldn't have Kennedy died instead? Why did Amanda have to die she was so cool.

I am still hurt over the death of Anya 🙁 ! , it had to be someone though but Anya is one of my faves she just makes me laugh so much 😀 .

I chose "Mad; Proper Goodbye Needed" i really grew to love Anya and was really disappointed that she died, i knew that someone would die but i expected some sort of brave heroic death and then some proper mourning! Xander didn't seem to care in my eyes and i'm sure the others would have felt awful when she died! and it was so quick and kind of shoved in it felt.

She was willing to be a part of battle against the forces of evil. In the battle she died, how much braver a death could she have had.
Considering how much time was left in the show and how much time was specific to Anya, I'd say that was a good thing for the character.
Spike was a much bigger part of the show, but in comparison to Anya how much time was spent talking about his death scene?

There's no "I'm happy with how they did it" option. I did care, and I loved the character, but I thought it was excellently done, and very appropriate. It doesn't make sense for everyone to survive a fight like that, and not everyone who fights evil gets a heroic death scene in reality. I loved that she went out fighting, and I loved that she died in a very human way - quietly, and without a big fuss. It was right for her character.

Oh, I'm so sorry! I totally forgot to add more options like that. Is there anyway to edit a poll?

I agree that she didn't need a heroic death, but I wanted people to care about her, and it seemed almost no one did. I mean, Xander almost married her, she's been in the group since Season 4! She's been in it the same amount as Spike (not counting seasons 2 and 3, cause he was a villain/guest star), so shouldn't people care like they cared about Spike?

I was sad. before she was so sure that she won't die and it was clear that she would do. I liked her very much =)

eh.. Anya was never really that close to anyone other than Xander, not really anyway. I thought it was a great way for her to go out for precisely the reasons you hate it. It was blunt. Nothing needed to be explained. Its was a brutal loss instead of a sappy drawn out episode. At the end of the day it was good story telling.

Thanks for the added option. Now I feel that I can vote.
I pretty much agree with Lindsey.

It is kinda typical though that of the main characters only those with a demon/vampire background dies.

One word really sums it up, I felt numb. Like denial that it actually happened :-( When they took the school bus and left it was like, "What about Anya!" :-(

I think it was appropriate, and realistic, that a long-term, main character be killed in that fight.
Especially since Anya and Andrew were paired together...which I still don't understand...but anyway.
I was sad of course...and I would have liked to see more grieving being done, but there wasn't time in that episode. Mostly the gang just felt relieved to be alive, shocked about all that had happened, surprised by the fact that Sunnydale was now a crater and the hellmouth was closed, amazed that they'd won, inspired that Buffy was no longer the only Slayer....I mean, there was a LOT for them to take in. I think grief would come later.

Goodbye need for sure!!!

So what? Emma didnt want to continue in the show, so, they killed her... But.. c´mon it´s like 3 secs in the screen... I was like "is she dead? what happened?" and had to rewind the DVD to see it again.. grrr It wasn´t necessary a hole arc about her death.. but at least a little goodbye for 10 secs, huh?

Mad mad mad...

Guys... what is everyone talk about. That wasn't Anya! Anya couldn't just die like that! It was just a girl who looked exactly like Anya! Duh. I REFUSE to believe that happened to Anya! NO WAY.

But seriously, my cousin emails me pictures of that fatal scene whenever she wants to piss me off. It's traumatizing. Seriously. I was soooo pissed at Joss. Almost as pissed as I was at Not Fade Away... Almost. She was my absolute favourite character... and got an even worse exit from the show than Cordy did in Angel.

I gasped when I first saw it... and I think I'll be closing my eyes during that whole scene from now on. It's just not fair. My cousin argues that it was suiting for her, because she had finally gotten what humanity was all about, sacrificing yourself for the ones you care about and for the greater good... but I argue that she JUST started really appearing/feeling human... she didn't even really get to embrace it.

So yeah... back to my original theory... just someone that looked/talked like her. Totally. Or it was an Anya bot. I swear I saw a spark.
