I did not lose all faith in the series, but I thought she deserved a better good-bye. She was a very important character in the series, one that many people loved. She had been there for a long time and she fought with the scoobies a long time. I think they could have done more instead of just brushing it off. But of course, I know they could not do that with like a minute left before the episode ended.

I was happy with the way it ended. I loved the character, of course, but felt that the sudden, out of nowhere death was an artistically interesting choice. Instead of yet another death scene in a lovers arms (which they could have done with Xander), it was just a "Here...she's gone" kind of thing. Which ended up being memorable in their own right.

It really upset me. I think Anya deserved something more than a "that's my girl, always doing the stupid thing." :'( I guess everyone knew there'd be causalities, but I was expecting something more from Xander.

I didn't vote 'cause I wasn't mad, but I wasn't happy. I was so sad. I knew she was going to die because I accidentally read the spoilers but when she just got sliced and diced I was like WOW. The ending was so sad when Andrew said she died saving his life it made me cry. It's got me teary thinking about it. Anya became such a great character. I had really grown to love her.

I think the first time I truly realized how much I cared for her was The Body, when she was saying how she didn't understand Joyce just wasn't there anymore. It was very sad and I got all teary then too. I just really ended up loving Anya. It's such a shame she died.

Now that you mention it, i remember reading Emma said that. Still though, would anyone have minded if they didn't kill her(or anyone else?) i'm just sad outsider Anya was killed.
I didn't mind all 'That much, but tbh i was a bit annoyed. Anyas one of my favorites and it felt like such a cop out to kill her, of all people. They should at least of had the balls to kill off, maybe, Xander or Giles? They just killed Anya cos they didnt have the guts to go bigger.

It wouldn't have been right to kill off any of the original four. Besides, Emma wanted them to kill off Anya in a heroic sort of way because she wasn't coming back to BtVS, even if they kept going with it.
I was so sad, upset, and angry when I saw the last episode of Buffy. I think she deserved a better goodbye then she got. It didn't even seem like it bothered Xander. Anya and Spike are my favorite characters...and both of them dying....I freaked out...it felt like I lost a part of myself. I cried for two hours. Did I lose faith in the show...hell yes. Hopefully the comics will be good read.

I am currently re-watching Buffy. I still love it...I just don't like how it ended on tv.

At first I was sooo angry. I mourned her death for a long time because she is and always will be my favorite character on Buffy.
After re-watching all the seasons though and watching her character develop and grow, I feel that the end of season 7 was the right time for her character to go. (As much as it pains me to say it).
She did her part into helping the scoobies fight many apocolypses, and she entertained us for many seasons. She also finally realized what it meant to be human and be "selfless". It was right for her character to go at that time.
If the character of Anya would have gone on to season 8 in the comics, I don't think there would have really been a good place for her there.
She went out right. And like Emma Caufield said, Anya's death was very abrupt and to the point. Very Anya like.

I thought that Anya was a great character and deserved a proper goodbye. I found it very irritating that nobody seemed to care that Sunnydale had just been blown up and they had lost so much. I mean, Anya and Spike are dead and they can never ever again visit the graves of Joyce, Tara or Jenny to name a few. The place where Xander and Willow grew up in is gone forever. Come on! A little sadness would have been nice!

True! God, I never thought about the graves! :o

I thought about the graves a lot. They're gone. I mean, Anya is still there, ground swalloved her, and that's a terrible image in my head.

I still miss Anya to this day and they need to resurrect her, though I know that that is probably, most likely, not going to happen. Sad day. 🙁

While I chose "Happy with it", I didn't really care for Xander's "stupid thing" line and thought he was generally too cheery in the last scene. I realize his grief was dealt with somewhat in the S8 comic, but in Chosen, the way he dealt left me flat.

I am perfectly fine with the death itself. It's brutal, forthright and unexpected - much like Anya herself. While Joss himself considers her death to be somewhat unheroic, I don't really see it that way as she did dust at least 2 ubervamps before she was taken down. Plus, it's a badass way to die.

I'm cool with every death in the show and I think all the dead chars should stay dead. Wasn't happy seeing the flayed Warren in the comics, but that's the least of the issues I have with the comics(while I do enjoy them overall). Tara should never appear unless as a ghosty perhaps - but better a memory. Kennedy can join those dead chars anytime.

Just would have liked to see it hit Xander a little more than it did. Maybe a fall to the ground. Or a look of real anguish. Or simply not smiling as much and joking in the final end scene.

I was MAAADDD! She was there and then she was gone. I'm glad no one has voted the option good riddance, hated her.

I felt sad and mad at the same time. I loved Anya and though her journey was complete I wanted her to live and in the end, be with Xander again. What a shame she died...It's always heartbreaking when Xander tries to find her and we see her body just laying there. Sad,sad, sad.

I was ok with it. Season 7 was a bad season for Anya, she was just kind of there. Selfless is one of my favorite Buffy episodes and I felt she should have been written out at the end of that. It would have been a great send off. Instead her character fizzled out for the rest of the episodes and I felt her character had gone as far as it could.
I like that she went out fighting and helped in saving the world. It was hard to watch but it rounded off her character nicely.
I do think season 8 should have dealt with the aftermath of Chosen though and given us some scene of mourning or recognition that she died a hero. They seem to have forgotten about her which is sad. 🙁

I agree she should've been the one who died at the end instead of Halfrek. Her story would've ended on the same note: dying to save humanity.

It made me sad when Anya died. I choose Mad; We needed a proper goodbye.

There's no "Sad, I didn't want her to die!" Option...

I wish that was an option. I would have chosen that one, definitely.

I previously voted "mad, proper goodbye needed" but looking back... I'm kind of at peace with how it happened. I mean, I'm really really sad she died and I wish she had stayed alive... But she died courageously in battle saving Andrew fighting with the stupid humans. It's awful that such a great character died... but what actually happened did her justice. The only thing I'd change is I'd give it more screen time. I'd make it a bigger event. It was like one second she's alive and the next she's dead. No dramatic music no Andrew screaming "NO," no dramatic slow-mo... just "she's dead, let's move on to the real fight downstairs."

Right! We should've had a scene where Andrew said "Noo!" All dramatically. It's like they cheated her death scene.
