How did you react when Willow killed that Bambi?

I didn't really have any reaction to Willow doing this. Now that i am thinking about it i don't think it was a very Willowy thing to do but it hasn't made me look at her any differently.
 
I didn't really care when she killed the little deer.
Don't get me wrong. I love animals! I could have never done such a thing. I can't even kill a spider.
Well, I could, but I don't want to. 😀

But what Willow did was pretty much saving the world or at least lots of lives.
There was no Slayer, 'cause Faith was gone and the only two ways of getting a new one was killing her or that Bambi.

I know that it was really un-Willow, but in my eyes it was the only way.
And I like it when it gets a bit darker than usual.
 
I think killing the deer upset me most I actually could have cared less about anything else lol.
 
I have no problem with killing a deer for a spell to give someone a chance at life.

Isn't that what most of us do every day? We are meat eaters after all. Willow did it humanely so what's the difference between that and cutting off a chickens head and then making pie out of it? I wish I hadn't used that analogy. I really want chicken pie now.

For me the difference is that when I eat meat, I'm already alive. I'm supposed to be here. Willow killed that fawn to bring Buffy back to life. Buffy was dead, not supposed to be here.

Yeah but I also don't have an issue with hunting or wearing animals either. Leather is awesome. I take issue with Willow doing the spell in the first place, but I definitely don't take issue with the killing of a deer to do a spell in general.

I wasn't shocked at the act of Willow killing a 'bambi'.

I generally agree... I was more upset with the spell in general than the killing of the fawn. But something else that made me shocked by it was that she killed it herself. She stabbed it. It was heartbreaking to watch her stab a fawn. Although, I don't have an issue with hunting either so I can see how I could have double standard because of the spell.
 
The way it was shot was deliberately heartstring-pully, so it's totally understandable to have that initial reaction of revulsion, even if you're pro-hunting or a meat eater etc, even if it's less objectionable on an intellectual level.

Agreed, the way it was portrayed was suggestive of Willow killing (if not brutally then at least very callously) something pure and innocent, and doing so in order to work magics we knew were dark and iniquitous... so yes, I thought it was rather repulsive when first I saw her kill it because it served as a first step towards the new Willow that wasn't altogether sympathetic and, to boot, incongruous with the Willow I felt I 'knew'
 
I was shocked, just because Willow of a couple years prior never would've done that. At least, I don't see her doing it. Not to mention how the scene started out as. The intention of showing that the spell was not a park-walk was made clear to me.

As far as how she treated the animal, worse stuff than that goes on everyday on factory farms, farms, and households with pets. At least the animal didn't really suffer; it was a quick kill.
 
To be honest I didn't even care...I sound like a terrible person lol. It's not a moment that I remembered because I was much more focused on the story and how they were going to bring Buffy back. Perhaps I would have had more of a reaction to the moment or given it some more thought if the death had been more violent, because I would have been more shocked.

Really, when I think about it that deer was foreshadowing how dark season 6 was going to be
 
I watched Bargaining: Part 1 & 2 yesterday and I payed extra attention to the scene with the little deer.
I don't really think it was that bad and I think you can see that Willow is a bit upset because of the deer.
But come on. It's not that bad compared to the rest of the season and the things she does in the last three episodes.

And the thing with the deer is in everyone's interest. There's no slayer in Sunnydale and bringing Buffy back (and saving the world) by killing that animal is totally OK in my opinion.

Well to me it's not so much the brutality of the act as much that it symbolizes a sort of loss of innocence. It foreshadows what is to come and that Willow has crossed a line and that she's no longer the Willow of the past.

That's what gets to me about that scene.

Oh, that never occurred to me. You're right about that.

Anyway, it's not like I don't like the darkness of Season 6.
Season 6 is my favorite season. It's very interesting and I'm kinda thankful that Willow crossed that line.
In this way Season 6 became the sinister Season 6 I know and love.
 
If my best friend had jumped into a crazy ball of energy, meant to lead to a hell dimension, I would do anything I could to bring her back. Kill a deer? I wouldn't like it, but I'm pretty sure I would do it. Doesn't mean I'm gonna go all dark on you though 😛
