How do you pronounce Faith's last name? Leh-han or Lee-hane? I say Lee-hane, mostly because it sounds more natural to me.

I pronounce it neither of the ways that you chose. I pronounce it le-hane. LOL, I don't know how to put the little symbols over my letters, but my pronunciation is similar to "refrain".

well, being a teacher...when you see vowel-consonant-e in a word, it makes that vowel a long vowel. (We call that magic e...it gives it's power to the vowel to make it long). So, the 'a' should be pronounced as Aaaa (like the letter's name), not ah. (like apple)

So, I would pronounce it as: Luh-hane...long a in there!

The most common theory I hear from sources including Eliza Dushku in a Conan interview is Faith is from South Boston. From a heritage standpoint that's Irish country.

Author Dennis Lehane is an Irish American from South Boston. He writes about a South Boston neighborhood much like the one Faith must have grown up in in his award winning novel Mystic River.

I tell you all that to suggest this. Perhaps the name is pronounced in a way which sounds Irish, like Luh-Hahn-ee.

I found a useful site that lists the last names of many public figures and gives a guide on how to pronounce them. On that site I found the following:

Lehane, Chris (lə-HĀN)
Lehane, Dennis (lə-HĀN)

ə = affair, sofa (general "shwa" sound)

I'm coming down with the le-hane/luh-hane/rhyming with refrain side...that's how I would pronounce it if I said it out loud. It sounds like an Irish name and that's how I hear an Irishman saying it in my head...
