How do you guys watch the show? I typically start from 1x01 and just go straight on from there. The only times I skipped or watched an episode out of order was: when I wrote my OMWF paper, when I watched OMWF with my sister, when I watched Smile Time with my dad. Other than that, I always just start at the beginning and go to the end. When I first got the DVDs, I figured that after I watched it all the way through 1 time that afterwards I'd just kind of pick and choose certain episodes when I felt like watching, but still haven't done that.

I've read some posts too, and seems like there are certain episodes that people like to skip over. I kind of do that, wherein sometimes if there's an episode that I don't care for a lot ("Where The Wild Things Are" comes to mind) I'll play it, but be looking at eBay at the same time, or playing with my ferret, or cleaning my room, etc.

Anyway, how do you guys watch the show?

Mostly I watch it through beginning to end. Last time, though, I decided I didn't HAVE to watch an episode I didn't like, so I skipped over them. Stuff like "Teacher's Pet," for example. Any episode I was feeling "blah" about, I skipped.

I'm planning another marathon when I'm done with the Firefly/Serenity one I'm on right now, and I haven't decided how I'm going to do this one.

I love to watch the shows all in one, beginning to end, and I never skip epsiodes. Buffy, Angel, then Firefly. 😀 I sometimes watch random episodes, my favourites, but very rarely. I'm quite compulsive when it comes to watching shows I like, haha.

i always skip season 1 out , i can never be bothered with it.
haha,

i always get a notion for watching a certain season, like say season 4, then i end up watching the res up to season 7, it's weird. Just depends 😛

me too! about the second thing. I like season one, personally.
Wishing Oceans

that's what i do too :D
There are seasons I like considerably more than others. I usually pick a season it seems like I haven't seen for awhile and watch it all the way through. Buffy season one is the only season I don't own (though I have seen every episode of it multiple times) so it's the one I watch the least. Generally, there aren't many episodes I skip. I usually skip "When She Was Bad" because I've never liked that episode very much, and I've probably seen it two or three times anyway. I'll always skip "She" because literally the only moment of that episode worth watching is Angel and Wes dancing at the beginning. The rest is crap that I can't believe a great team like that actually put out. Sooooo terrible.

I sometimes do the whole start to end thing, all 7 seasons, but I generally watch story arcs from different seasons. For example I watched from Seeing Red to Grave, two days ago. And yesterday I watched from the episode before Shiney Happy People to the Magic Bullet ( evidently I'm not as good at remembering the names of angel episodes as I am with Buffy 😛)

But I also enjoy sticking in a random disk and going with the whole eenie-meanie-minie-mo 😛

I'd like to do the random disk thing, but I'm too compulsive for it. Maybe after I finish this run.. hm..
I try to watch a season at a time and if possible stick to the show order. My problem is that there is an episode that I don't like particularly comes along or I remember my favourite episode and skip the lot and go to it, then return to the original order, pretty screwed up way of watching.

I didn't get Buffy the first go-round so I've been watching through the DVDs... didn't have much cause to pick and choose. I got through the whole series in 5 months. Now, I'm working on Angel, but occasionally I'll just *need* something Buffy. I *need* to watch Becoming Pt 2 or Prophesy Girl or Dopplegangland or any of the other fantastic ones. So, I'll watch them. And every now and then I get a friend into Buffy and they'll come over and I'll watch what they're up to.

Once I finish Angel, though, I have this new plan. It seems terrible to me that the original watchers had to wait a week between each episode! Or three months between each season! I figured I got kinda spoiled, what with my 7 episodes a day. So I wanna watch them the way it was originally meant to be watched. I'm not going to do something so drastic as keep exactly the same amount of time between the episodes as happened the first time, but I'm going to pick a designated night and watch one episode a week. And if I have to take a week off because I'm visiting somewhere, I won't make it up. I'll keep going once a week. And once Angel comes on, I'll pick a night for him and watch it parallel to Buffy. I'm actually quite looking forward to it. I think it will give the viewing process a whole new perspective!

*Is it bad that this is what I'm most excited about in the coming months?

I tried watching Angel parallel to Buffy. I got bored. I discovered that I was suffering through the Angel episodes so I could get to the next Buffy episode. Not a great way to watch a TV show. 😛

The only time I've ever watched all the episodes in order was when I first started watching.

Now, I just pick episodes at will. Either I get a sudden craving to watch a certain episode or I just think, "I feel like watching Buffy," then look through my DVDs to find an episode that looks appealing. I feel like I should watch them all the way through again since I imagine you can appreciate the really good episodes more once you've watched everything up until them, but meh, I don't have time.

It varies. When I watch on my own I usually just pick whatever I want to see, but when I watch with other people we usually watch them all in order.
On my own, I've never managed to watch the show in one go! I mean, I started with the sporadic episode in s6, then watched regularly in s7, at some point saw s1 (but after already reading scripts of s2), half of s2, half of s3, half of s4, a tiny bit of s5, the rest of s3, s6 complete, s7 complete, and then everything of the remaining seasons I hadn't seen. Angel I started watching about a year after my first way through Buffy. Really, come to think about it, it really wonders me how I could follow any of the storylines!

I always watch in order starting from Season 1 all the way through to 7. Watching them out of order feels strange. Same with Angel, but sometimes I like watching the Pylea episodes by themselves cause they're just too funny.

The only episodes I've ever skipped from Buffy are "Where The Wild Things Are" and "All The Way". Buffy and Riley just annoy the crap out of me in WTWTA and I don't like ATW cause I love old people and that episode makes me sad. Other than that, I try to watch every episode, even the ones that are a little slow or boring.

I go straight through and don't skip episodes. I'll sometimes think before watching an episode "This one sucks, I might skip it", but then I watch it and enjoy it and wonder why I thought it sucked.

That happens to me too... A lot of them grow on me quite a bit.
I also go straight through, beginning to end.
Don't skip any episodes either. Wouldn't skip episodes in any serie actually.

On rare occasions I might watch some other episode out of order if it's something special I want to see.

It happens that I watch a random episode but most of the time I watch the seasons straight through. I've watched Buffy and Angel parallel before but I have to admit that I'm a bit lazy so go changing the disc all the time is too much work. 😉 So this time I actually changed to Angel after watching Buffy season 3 and are now on season 5 of Angel and I haven't started on Buffy season 4 yet. I usually don't skip episodes but I'm no stranger to the fast forward button.

At the moment im watching Buffy all of the way from season one to the end of season seven. But normally when i try to do that i end up watching an episode and thinking 'ooh i really fancy watching season 4 now' then i end up just skipping through random episodes.

I'm currently watching through the Buffyverse for the 1st time ever. I started watching in May.

I watched in this order: B1, B2, B3, B4/A1, B5/A2, B6/A3, B7/A4 and now I'm currently watching A5.

Generally, there aren't many episodes I skip. I usually skip "When She Was Bad" because I've never liked that episode very much, and I've probably seen it two or three times anyway.

IMO, "When She Was Bad" is the best season premiere of Buffy.

I don't get why people overlook that episode.

A lot of the time I will just feel like watching a particular episode. But I do like to do a full rewatch of every episode every now and again.
I usually will be watching one whole show. I've just finished doing a full Angel rewatch, before that I was doing Battlestar Galactica and X-Files. I think it's time to do a Buffy one again 😀

I watch in order but I skip out episodes that I don't like, sometimes I watch random episodes but that's really rare.

I usually skip around from season to season, and if I hear a reference to another episode, I watch that one, and it's all very unorganized.
There are some episodes I've only seen twice, like Older and Far Away, and Reptile Boy, and Faith Hope and Trick.
Those episodes never really agreed with me.
