How I Met Your Mother season 7 (spoilers if you're not watching on US schedule)

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I think it will be a false positive, because having two pregnancies on the one show at the same time doesn't sound like a very smart idea to me, even though I'm a (non-rabid) Barney/Robin shipper. And poor Ted. Everyone besides him would be having kids. It doesn't seem fair for him.

I don't keep up, is Cobie pregnant for real again and they're tired of trying to hide the actors behind various objects or is it "just" for the sake of the story? Just thinking out loud. My first reaction to the news wasn't a good one but I'll wait and see what they do with it. I'm not that attached to the characters to really bother either way as long as I enjoy the show.

She's not pregnant in real life. I think it's a false positive, because
the future spoilers say that Barney gets another potential bride called Quinn, and having Robin pregnant would practically lock her in as the bride, which is the mystery of the season.

or i could be Kevin's. That would make her not the bride. Here's what I think is going to happen.

Robin is pregnant. They will probably go a while with everyone thinking it is Kevins. Barney will date the girl they have lined up for him.
Until they find out (By whatever ways they can think of) that it's actually Barneys.
That's how Kevin finds out she cheated on him (Because he never actually let her say it)
Now think back further. Do you remember the episode where they flashed forwards and Marshall was gambling?
Do you remember how Barney was on the phone and had a very "What in the hell?" face?
Wanna guess what that call was about?

I saw that on tumblr and was like "A month ago, I would have said "NO WAY! The writers of HIMYM are better than that. I expect more of them!" But since the cheating thing and the fact they even brought up a possibility of the pregnancy, I expect the worst. This isn't the worst, it's still got substance, but I don't think they've all died (yet) and therefore have loss the use of their brains completely.

Interesting theory. But... two pregnancies? Will they really go through Robin's pregnancy? I doubt they'll go for an abortion storyline. Really, false positive seems like that only way to go........

I don't see why everyone keeps acting like two pregnancies at the same time is something the writers wouldn't touch. I mean, they brought up the possibility... why not actually carry it through. AND they did the cheating on great relationships and destroying them storyline for the previous two weeks. Who's to say we should have more faith in them?

Ah... the cheating on great relationships depends on your point of view. For B/R shippers like me, it was distasteful but inevitable with their history and lingering feelings. But I think the entire viewership would be unhappy with two pregnancies. And Robin being pregnant. Which is why I think it'll be a false positive. As I said before, I like S7 so far, up till the Robin pregnancy crazy thing, so I'll just try trust the writers.

@drizzledaze, I wish so hard I could be you. A B/R shipper (aka someone who can make sense of this mess of a season), someone who likes this season, and someone who trusts the writers. *sigh*

Wow, people are getting all worked up about this already, and we basically have no information so far.

First of all, the pregnancy idea could go 3 ways:
1. False positive. Honestly, I don't think this is likely at all. The whole build up in this episode with Barney admitting he wants children some day...nope, I'm pretty sure this pregnancy is for real! (though, if I'm wrong, feel free to laugh at me in a few weeks 😛)
2. She's actually pregnant and aborts. People seem quick to dismiss this, but I think it is actually something I could see Robin do. Sure that would be a controversial move on a sitcom, but it wouldn't be the first time. Just think about Barney's gay married brother...I bet there were also people screaming at the TV for this one for how "wrong" it is. The show is pretty modern, with a liberal stance on issues. And Robin would be the first character to get in line for an abortion...just consider how anti-children she was for years. I'm not saying this is gonna happen, but I wouldn't dismiss it just yet.
3. She's pregnant and gonna have the baby. Personally, I think this is the most likely option. Especially with the news that
they are casting for Robin's future children
.

If she is really pregnant and keeping the baby, who says it's actually Barney's baby? It could be Kevin's. Actually, I think it might actually really be Kevin's, because
apparently, one of her future children will be blonde, the other will have brown hair
. So I think it's a likely option that this is Kevin's child, but they still break up at some point and she gets back with Barney in the end, maybe at the wedding?

Yeah, they're casting for her future kids for the flashforward, but it could be a fantasy scenario. What is more probable is that she gets pregnant after the show ends or just before, and the current pregnancy is a false positive. And if one of her future children is blonde, wouldn't that make it more probable that Barney's the father? Robin has brown hair, Kevin has black.

Lol @ the knowing virtually nothing.

Anyway, I say the abortion storyline is something they won't pursue because I don't think they'll broach on such a controversial issue. I don't think the gay brother thing is as seriously taken as abortion. An abortion storyline sounds like A Very Special Episode sort of thing.

Spoilers.

Question: Please can I have some HIMYM scoop? "”Harriet
Ausiello: You thought this week's installment was epic? There's an episode coming up that features a wedding, a death, a delivery and, if that's not enough, the identity of the titular mama will be revealed "” and it all ties into Becki Newton's arrival as Barney's new love interest. EP Carter Bays explains: "We're very excited to add Becki to the HIMYM family. We can't give any details on her character just yet, except that she marries Barney before getting eaten by a crocodile in the shocking season finale right after Ted meets the mother (Barney's long-lost sister) and Lily gives birth to a baby boy weighing 7 lbs., 8 oz. And that's all we can reveal at this time." Wow. [Beat] Wait, was he joking?!.

Question: Michael, please tell me Robin isn't really pregnant on HIMYM. "”Iveta
Ausiello: She's really pregnant. But whether she remains that way is an open question. In possibly related news, here's the logline for the Dec. 5 episode: "When Robin receives bad news, she decides to lie about it to the gang." Hmm"¦.

Er, the first spoiler is probably a joke. So disregard that.

Now, the second spoiler... Guess it isn't a false positive (dammit!). Now I'm thinking miscarriage.

So, I just watched the last two episodes on cbs.com...
What can I say. They were really... intense.
I liked them. I think complicated situations make a show really interesting and worth watching.

...but is anyone else getting kinda tired of the Barney/Robin stuff? 🙁 (well, it's pretty obvious, regarding the previous discussion)
I still think that Ted/Robin would've worked better, but we already know that Robin isn't the mother.

Anyway, I think we can look forward to a whole lotta interesting episodes in the future. I'm really curious to see how everything is gonna turn out.

Obviously, she isn't. But that doesn't mean that Robin isn't the one he ends up with. I've probably put too much thought into this, but bear with me. Is it possible that the mother dies in child birth of their son? Because it just feels like he's speaking in fond memory of her. I HIGHLY doubt this is the case though.

No. Bays and Thomas say that Robin won't end up with Ted, and she's not the Mother anyway, and it would be a big let down if that happens. They even said that the reason they included the 'Robin's not the mother' in the pilot was so they wouldn't do the 'Will they or won't they?' like Ross and Rachel, establish that it definitely isn't Robin who's the mother or ends up with Ted. (I agree with your doubt. Except my doubt is infinitely higher. And slightly exasperated.)

So not pregnant, can't get pregnant and the future kids were not real. All to show Robin as a total mess. Which I'm not saying is bad. Not that I want her a mess but showing emotions, yes please.

No matter if the couch in the dream/fantasy talk with the fake kids were real or fake it was fun to see the storm trooper in the background.

Of course. Because writers don't lie. Nope. Not at all.

Then why would they shoot down T/R shippers from the very first episode? As the writers of a TV show, wouldn't it be better to keep the 'will they or won't they' for more viewership? They specifically didn't want that kind of confusion.

Just streamed the episode online. Robin's imaginary son looks awesome. And I find it encouraging that she's imagining Barney to be the father, even if it's just because he was the only candidate, seeing as she and Kevin haven't had sex yet. The Marshall storyline was kind of weird, though.

I just have major trust issues with writers.

Isn't there a scene from a college reunion in the future where Ted, Lily and Marshall "eat a sandwich" and Ted asks, "Where is my wife?"
Oh, wait, I just though about it and Robin isn't in that scene... so is she his wife? Damn, that stuff is so complicated.

Anyway, could still be that he ends up with Robin, you're right.

So, I just finished watching Symphony of Illumination.
I liked it. Very, very interesting. And I'm kinda glad that the kids weren't real.
But I don't like Barney's sudden interest in having kids... it's weird, really.
