How is Season 7 measuring up?

S5
S6
S1
S4
S2
S3

I don't want to rate S7 yet since I haven't seen it all. It's panning out pretty good, but if the ending isn't at least as powerful as season 5 it'll be a major letdown.

On my list of episodes are (in order of best to next best) OMWF, The Body, Hush, CWDP although I have to give credit to some season 4 wonders like Primordial and Restless.

Season 5: Glory, Glory, Glory. Best villian so far on BtVS. You really believed that the world was hanging in the balance, and the ending with Spike crying et. all was not to be beat. Also, we see Willow's magic become a major issue.

Season 6: Buffy revived. You see all the trauma ascociated with that and then there is OMWF. That show alone could carry the season. Of all the people I know who are buffy fans, everyone of them has OMWF either on their hard-drive, or taped on VHS. In many cases that is the only episode they have.

Season 1: I love seeing how everyone first reacted to finding out about vampires and finding out about the slayer. I especially love 'The Harvest' for the lines between Buffy and Xander when she is describing having to decapitate a thick-necked football-player-turned-vampire with a little xacto-knife, and stops short for fear she is creeping him out. He responds that he finds it oddly comforting at the moment. LOL It's very interesting to see everyone adjust to the idea that this itty-bitty girl is qualified to be their protector. Watching Giles learn how to cope with Buffy's unique charms is worth the price of admission. This season would be rated last in my scale, if it wasn't for the importance of it being the origin of the show. Take that away and you can bump it to the bottom.

Season 4: The finale was awesome (I'm taking Primordial as the finale and not Restless, although that was awesome too). The mainstay of the episodes were mediocre by buffy standards though. On the other hand, we have Hush, which was incredible, and we have the episodes immediately after which were fun, as I got to once again see people's reaction to the strength and power of this little girl we call The Slayer. Watching Buffy take town a platoon of Riley's best men was fun. Oh and the episode 'Fear' was good for a laugh.

Season 2: Angelus. Drusilla. Need I say more? The story line did indeed get repetitive as someone mentioned, but these 2 villians carry the season.

Season 3: Well, we have Faith, which is a major bonus to the season. On the greater scheme of things though, I didn't feel the urgency of the crisis like I did in other seasons. The Mayor's character was awesome, but the finale was a little weaker than in other seasons, in my opinion.

It's hard to rate them like that, since I loved each and every episode in it's own way - some more than others. Take out any season, or even any single episode, and we would lack a little bit of understanding of the characters. Every episode, good or bad, was essential to the BtVS we know and love. Imagine our understanding of Xander without having watched The Zeppo.

S5 - Perfect in every way. Made even better because the Scoobies hang out again, and The Magic Box is great because it gives them somewhere like the old library to plan things.

S3 - Great season with another good finale, both S5 and S3 felt like they could have been 'the last season'

S6 - Good, but OMWF makes this higher than I would have put it otherwise. Loved Evil Willow.

S2 - I'm sorry but Angel moans far too much for my liking

S1 - Ok, but hey - 10 episodes short!

S4 - Hush is one of my favourite eps, but the gang didn't hang out as much and Buffy just got obsessed with Riley. It seemed like at the end of S3 the gang was really strong but over the summer holidays they all lost touch - how long were they away for! At least in S6 & S7 the characters hang around with each other when they are falling out.

I'm not putting S7 in there for a fortnight, but I reckon its probably between S5 & S3!!!
