How many of you consider BtVS to be your favorite show

Supernatural is the example of that for me, I love Supernatural, but I dont want to discuss is. The fandom is there, there are loads of places to discuss the show, I just dont feel the need to.

I feel the same way. Love the show. There are tons of like, "No way!" moments, but when I try to discuss it I can't think of anything to really say.

Buffy and Charmed are my favourite shows, maybe charmed an eensy bit more. I have a loooot of tv box sets and despite my mad tv love-greys anatomy, bones, criminal minds etc, those two shows are the ones I can keep watching over and over again, know the lines and never get bored.

The Buffyverse is a totally different animal for me. Where as my other shows entertain me, the Buffyverse pisses me off and antagonises me. The Buffyverse pisses me off so much I took to the internet to find other people to share my ravings with. This show occupies space in my mind that no other show every has or will. The Buffyverse has brought into my life some of the best friendships I've ever had. I've learned more about feminism, tolerance, articulation, patience and compassion from this show and its fandom than college could ever have taught me. It's my raisin d'etre in fandom. The Buffyverse is a friend to me. An annoying, disappointing, batshit crazy yet totally endearing, lifelong friend.

YES. I mean, I can't exactly say it pisses me off or antagonises me, but Buffy has this way of crawling into a person, setting up camp, and living there. I've been watching Buffy since I was 9 years old and I still can't shake my fascination with or adoration for the Buffyverse. I can watch the same seven seasons over and over and over again and still be drawn in. Buffy never bores me.

As weird as it sounds, I really do feel like Buffy is a part of me. It's shaped who I am. The people I've met on the Internet because of Buffy will always be so important to me, not different to the way Buffy itself is. The best way I can articulate my relationship with the show is by comparing it to a limb. Buffy is my arm. I don't know what I'd do without it. I don't know who I'd be.

For all of these reasons, Buffy is without a doubt in my mind my favorite show. (It's not the best, by any means, but I definitely think it's one of the best.) BtVS foreverrr!

Totally agree with everything you just said. Except for the "it's not the best" part. It IS the best, by all means. :)
Aaah! I don't know anymore. I used to live by BtVS and Angel. They'll, of course, always be the shows that I feel most familiar with and that I'm closest to, but I think that Dexter has surpassed them as far as my *favorite* is concerned. I never thought I'd like a tv show character more than Buffy Summers, but Dexter stole that 1st spot!

I've seen BtVS ten times now (not counting the random episodes I watched sometimes) and I don't plan on ever stopping watching that show. It's just always funny, always witty. But yea, BtVS and Angel take second place now. Dexter is number 1!

I was actually talking about this the other day. I'm not sure if I'd consider Buffy my favourite show ever - I seem to change my mind a lot, also depending on what I'm watching at the time 😛 but it's definitely been the most influential and genuinely helpful in my life.

I grew up with the show. I grew up with Buffy herself, in school at the same time she was. I had a bit of a gap between watching the show again after its first airing. By this time I was in my late teens, early 20s and having a bit of a hard time. The real escapism (but therapeutic at the same time) really helped me a lot. In my opinion, it says so much about life than any other non "genre" show ever has.

It is my favorite show (today...lol) and i am currently re-watching it. It is very closely followed by Charmed. LOL you never know tomorrow that might be my favorite🙂

I go through phases when it comes to shows. One month I am binge watching "Battlestar Galactica" the next I am eagerly awaiting the next "Doctor Who" episode. However, when it comes down to it, Buffy is everything I want in a TV show, which is why it remains my favorite. Funny, deep, emotional, distressing, triumphant, and epic (not to mention the female empowerment and the incredible fanbase surrounding it). Its the one show that I will shove down the throats of my friends until they watch it.

I also love it because its flawed. It went through growing pains and it had some blatantly bad episodes. And the fanbase is so incredible at picking apart the show, but in a very loving and protective way (mostly). I could discuss the hell out of Buffy, where as other shows I could only say "yes, I enjoyed that" and be done. One summer I watched all 7 seasons with my friends (some veterans, some first time viewers). We'd have epic 12 hour viewing sessions with eat Chinese food and lots of caffeine. We kind of became our own little scooby gang. Best summer ever.

Now, best show I've seen? A totally different animal. Buffy is up there, but the film major in me can't claim its the most complete piece of artwork I have ever seen.

I consider it to be my favourite show. It'd certainly be the first thing that would spring to mind if anyone asked me the question. I'm currently re watching with my girlfriend and I'm still excited to see the next episode even though this is my 4th time through I think. It always seems so fresh. I can remember the overall plots but forget the dialogue so I'm still laughing away each time.

Far and away my favorite show of all time. I still watch it on netflix at least once a week and i have all the books and comics. i've just recently joined the verse and find it great. This feels like more than just a show to me it's part of my life. I def have to say i have a t.v. crush on Buffy.

Angel is my favorite show of all time, and Buffy is # 2 🙂 I think both shows had the best characters, the smartest writing, and some of the most amazing acting and directing of any show ever made.

Yes, it's definitely one of my favorite shows, along with Angel. I love Firefly too. I think it's Whedon- as infuriating as he can be (& sometimes underwhelming), I'm typically very interested in his works. I love Dollhouse as well, even with all of its faults. In my latest rewatch, it was Dollhouse that touched me the most; I found myself incredibly emotional while watching it.

Do I think it's the best show? That's another question entirely. And honestly that's very subjective. I know that Breaking Bad is supposedly the shits, but I don't have a big desire to watch shows about drugs (same thing with Weeds), so even if I tried it, it wouldn't appeal to me. There are other shows that I watch and admire, but I'll be honest, the violence turns me off a bit (thinking of Sopranos & Games of Thrones in particular).

Personally, Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined) sometimes beats Buffy as my fav. It is certainly a better show (IMO). I also love Fringe & Doctor Who. Any show that makes me weep really lol!

Yep lol! Well, I'll talk about my other fav shows if I get a chance, I just haven't found the right forums for that I guess! I like my Buffy/BB community! 🙂

Buffy is my fave TV show. Its gives me a good feeling. What I like most in the show is all the fun , querky, cute moments and the characters ofcourse. Also the whole idea if magic and whatnot. Season 4-6 really are the best ones where the show really shines. My fave parts of the show is all cute willow/tara moments, buffy and spike moments, buffybot. A lot of more stuff are awesome too ofcourse.

Second best is Angel. And its darker . And that is what I like less about that show.

Buffy is absolutely my favorite show. I love everything about the show, and it fits my tastes to a T. It mixes comedy, action, horror, fantasy, and emotional drama all into one perfect package. I know no show is perfect, but Buffy comes pretty damn close for me. I love the characters too, especially Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, Oz, Xander, Giles, and Tara. Buffy is a character that I honestly look up to. I just love this show. Angel is really high on my list of favorites, too. 🙂

Buffy the vampire slayer is my heart.

Buffy the vampire slayer is my #1 fav show ever made, hell I even say the movie is my fav movie of all time too!!! I don't know why I love the movie because its not anything like the show but still had a place in my heart and I grew up on the movie unto the show came out and I watched it everytime they aired it and Rec. it on vhs to back than and when I was little I always said when I grew up I wanted to be Buffy Summers and I even died my hair blonde at the time too! Buffy the vampire slayer saved my life...more than ever now that I lost my mother and grandmother just this year 2months apart watching Buffy helped me get by and thinking be brave and live...like Buffy said. She made me always think what would Buffy do and I'm stronger because of her and thats why to me anyway its the greatest show ever made my number 1.........

I just got into Btvs and it has won me over. Angel too. Is Buffy my favorite show ever? In a way, I can already say yes.

Let's take one of the more recent good television shows: Breaking Bad. I watched it and I liked it. I saw every episode. But I'm asking myself now if I'd ever watch it again and the answer is no. It's a good show, but I'd never be interested in watching it again. Once is enough. And that goes for a lot of other good shows I've seen, from Battlestar Galactica to Game of Thrones and beyond. I enjoy the time I spend with other good shows, but when it's over I'm ready to move on, in almost every case. I don't like to look behind me.

But, through five seasons of Buffy and two of Angel, I can already say that they are very likely an exception to that rule I generally abide by. I'm pretty sure I'll revisit these shows again, from time to time. And it's because there is something about the Buffy-verse that captures the imagination in a way other shows do not. I'm sitting here trying to think of how I can explain what exactly I mean by this and I'm struggling to put it into words. Maybe people who grew up on the original Star Wars trilogy might understand what I mean. The imagination wants to stay in that world; and there is also a desire to want to discover more of it. It changes you. Breaking Bad didn't change me. It came and went. But Buffy...Buffy has changed my imagination, it's left its mark on my psyche and I truly feel...better. A better person I mean, for having watched it. For the reasons I just briefly mentioned. Other shows might be better in lots of different ways. And some might even be better judged from an objective position. But those "better" shows have, for the most part, despite all the reasons why they are "better", left me unchanged. They leave no mark. I don't feel better off for having seen them. The enjoyment passes through me and leaves me. And when they're over with and gone they're not missed. I observe other characters from other shows. I feel as though I've lived with the Buffy-verse characters. I felt a part of it, because my imagination was activated by it.

So yes, the Buffy-verse shows are my favorite shows already. Maybe not objectively the best I've ever seen, but among the most impactful. Already.

I feel grateful that I've discovered it. I can't say that about many other television shows.

Buffy and Angel are pretty much the only shows I re-watch at all. So, there, they're my favourite shows

But I think there's a big difference between the best show I've seen, and my favourite show (weird I know). The best shows I've seen tend to be cop/criminal things (The Sopranos, The Shield, The Wire, but not always...) and I'd never had the urge to re-watch them. I've seen them and I move on.

I've watched other shows for the nostalgia factor (X-Files, Farscape, LOST, Battlestar Gallactica) and they've never really been as good as a I remember. (They're still good though.)
And, I mean, I watch GOT through a second time so I can refresh my memory about the complex machinations an' all and to enjoy the acting, but how many times am I going to want to watch the red wedding 🙂eek🙂, I mean really.
I'm not sure I've seen any other show that has the same quality of re-watchability.
(Well, maybe Red Dwarf. 🙂)
Buffy and Angel have the combination of humour and drama that lets you see the characters you love at their best and at their worst, it has that way of dragging characters through hell (and you along with them) and then picking them up without the characters losing hope or their sense of self. It's kind of an emotional high in that way.

So, yeah, I love the witty one-liners, drama, emotion, humour, inspirational moments/speeches, action, quality acting, deep themes about destiny/redemption/loneliness...but really I come back again and again because I love the characters.
I've never come across another show where I've had such strong feeling (love, admiration, affection, hell even loathing...) for so many characters at the same time.
Other shows...I'll probably like the main character, and thats it.

What I'm trying to get at is this...And this is gonna make me sound beyond sad...but I don't care, here goes. It feels like a lot of these people are my friends. They share all their important moments with me as they live and fight and sometimes die.
And the endings stay with me longer than any other show.

Man, I didn't think this was gonna go into another 'Ode to Buffy/Angel...oh, well. 🙂

It is definitely my favorite show! I can't even count how many times I have rewatched the entire show... I never get tired of it! 🙂

I am always excited when I sit down to watch an episode 🙂

Buffy is my favorite show because I can rewatch it and never be bored, it's always exciting and still gets to me emotionally. Not a lot of shows that I can just rewatch all the time. Sit-coms aside, cause I do love sit-coms, but for different reasons. Angel is up there, but i also love Once Upon A Time, I'm not sure if it holds up on rewatch knowing what happens, but I would go back and rewatch it, cause I love the retelling of old fairy tales. Never got into Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, just not my thing. Another show that I can watch is Law and Order:SVU, almost every time it comes on I watch it, unless it's a bad episode, but that's a great show too. Buffy just beats everything hands down, it never gets old.
