How many of you consider BtVS to be your favorite show

Like many other people said Buffy is a show like no other to me.
But I watch a lot of TV shows, and some I really love. Games of Thrones, Homeland... As a teenage girl, One Tree Hill meant a lot to me, and so did Friends.
I sometimes rewatch Veronica Mars, which I think has excellent writing.

I'm really really fond of Supernatural and watch it pretty much like I watch Buffy: trying to understand the characters, checking who wrote the episodes. Love it but...

But Buffy... it's something else, I can get frustrated at it, angry at people who think this is silly, I can defend or criticize it, I know who wrote the episodes, I read reviews, blogs, and I'm on this Forum. I might do my master thesis on Buffy.
I'm not sure that I will be this passionate about another show 10 years after it ended. Buffy defines the way I look at other shows, movies, books and all. It's a reference, if not THE reference.
Really special. Thank you and damn you Joss!

Buffy is a very flawed show for a lot of reasons but...yes, it is my favorite show. It's the only show I have watched maybe...I don't know 20 times or more and I never, ever get tired of it. I know that there are plenty of other shows that are better or that I even get more enjoyment from when I watch them, but Buffy is just...my favorite haha. It frustrates me to no end, but it will just always have a special place in my heart. Ha, I remember I was ranting about how much I love Breaking Bad (I do it to just about anyone I meet who tells me they haven't seen it) and I was like "It is the best television show I have ever watched in my entire life!!" and my little sister said, "But...I thought Buffy was your favorite?" and my mom was like "oh she knows how flawed Buffy is..." haha so yeah, Buffy is my favorite show and it always will be! I mean it can be bad...but when it's good, it's amazing. Buffy has inspired me so much in so many different ways and I will always love it.

At one point it was, but I don't think I'd say BTVS is my favorite show anymore; although it is the only show I think about and discuss almost daily. I think my all-time favorite show is either Friday Night Lights or Friends. BTVS (and Angel) may not be my favorite show anymore but there is no denying they are very special shows based on how much time and energy I put into discussing and keeping up with it.

Definitely my favourite. I'm usually not good at picking one thing in a category that is my favourite thing but when it comes to TV shows, there's absolutely no contest.

There's a lot of apologists on this thread, saying that they don't think Buffy's the best but it's their favourite because it gets to them most, or whatever. But isn't that what makes it the best? You might be able to dissect it from a technical stand-point and say that this, that or the other wasn't done perfectly, but imo technical prowess only gets you so far and sometimes you can have too much. The way Buffy gets to you and makes you care could even be partially a product of clunkiness or clumsiness in certain areas. I've no idea how to put this in TV terms but I play soccer a lot and I know that a technically more able team who tries to do everything perfectly can often be defeated by a less sophisticated team just doing what they need to do. At the end of the day, the victors have been proved to be the best, how they got there was kind of secondary to that.

I get the "not the best but favourite" argument, I've used it when talking about my favourite episodes but Buffy in general for me is the best show I've seen despite some technical deficiencies.

I think the urge to be apologetic in your defence of Buffy is understandable. I know I'm reluctant to actually tell people that Buffy's my favourite show because there's still the general perception of it as cheesy and let's face it, the name is a bit silly-sounding. However, the way the show still makes me feel is evidence to me that it's not only my favourite show, but also the best executed one I've watched, for surely the aim of story telling is to make people feel something?

I Agree, like if you think of it everyday, watch it almost everyday and seen it over 10 times in order you still always watch it again and again and thats not like other shows...you never got tried of it and you find out new little things everytime!! Still makes you laugh, cry and be shocked but If you ask me like I said Buffy the vampire slayer/angel are my most Favs<3 So I'm with you friend🙂

Hey, I'm not an apologist. I don't hide the fact that I love this show from my friends or family. (I've actually converted about four friends to this show, you're welcome Joss 🙂)

It's more a heart over head arguement, I realise that there is some nostalgia in my thinking but I don't really care that strongly about it. I love these shows so much because they're imperfect, technical or not.
I am actually very surprised that another show hasn't come along to surplant Buffy/Angel in my affections in the 10 years or so it hasn't been on, but so far nothing.
Other shows distract but really don't stay with me (unless its a different catagory of show- like a comedy or gritty drama series- for example I'm loving 'True Detective' right now!)

I'd put Angel as my favorite, but I guess that's kinda semantics.

No other show even comes close for me, I just love it!
