How old were you when you started watching???

I was 27 years old when I started watching regularly in 2005. Yeah, I started late 😛. However, I do recall watching "Incan Mummy Girl" when it first aired. I liked it, but wasn't too impressed, so I didn't continue to watch "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" at that time. But I'm glad that my friend Andrea re-introduced me to the show 🙂.

Gosh...Nine or ten. I literally grew up with the show. It's shaped the woman I've become - I would be a completely different person without its presence in my life.

My sort-of sister showed it to her three girls, the youngest of which was two at the time, the oldest five. They are all just fine. They played Buffy for weeks after that. Little slayers, all of them. Matter of fact, the 'Buffy' angle has been quite useful when staving off nightmares as far as the middle child is concerned.

Same here. Started about 9, and it changed my life forever.

Yeah, I was probably about 9-ish. I caught seasons 6 and 7 during its original airings on the UPN network. The only episode I ever missed was "Dirty Girls". I was hanging outside with a friend (which was rare at that time), and I remember saying, "gosh, I should get home, I'm going to miss Buffy", and he was like "are you seriously going to ditch me, after all the fun we're having, to go watch Buffy?" And then I couldn't leave after that. Haha. 😛

To be honest, I couldn't tell you which age you should start watching the show, because Buffy didn't make me some sort of violent person or anything. If anything, it made me a hermit, because all I did during my junior and high school years was come home from school and watch Buffy all night. 😀

No seriously, even though the show has its dark moments, Buffy (and her gang) are great role models. The stories are timeless, and there are valuable lessons to be learned through the show. It should be required viewing for anybody, at any age.

I'm getting the feeling I'm the oldest one here with regards to this subject - maybe white avenger is older.

haha- I'm not too far behind you! ;)
I saw it for the first time when I was about 9 and watched the "Angel' episode of season 1 when it first aired. However, I didn't start watching it till the end of season 3 because I remember I started watching it from when I saw the fight between Buffy and Faith. I would have been about 12. I watched every episode from 4-7 religiously every week when it aired on tv, so 13 - 16 years old.

I first watched Buffy at the age of 16, but I was 18 at the time I watched the whole series from start to finish last year.

I would say the right age to watch it would be around 14 up, because I'd say that's the age when you really begin to appreciate stuff

I think I was about 8 and it was season 6. (way to start cheerfully with the series ^^). I didn't get everything of course, but I was hooked anyway : the atmosphere, the characters, the humour (though not the most humoristic season).

I'd say the right age to start watching would be around 11-12, but it kinda depends on the person's maturity.

I began almost a decade ago, at the ripe old age of nine.

I caught reruns on FX and the WB. I remember the first episode that "hooked" me was Out of Mind, Out of Sight. I watched it every day that summer, I think!

I must concur with previous posters in that it totally depends on the person as to when it's appropriate to start watching Buffy...though I think that, regardless, Buffy is so chock-full of unbelievable rolemodels that any age can be a good age.

I started watching sometime around 10 or 11 although I didnt start watching religiously until I was a bit older. I remember waking up early to watch reruns (i think it was TNT not too sure anymore) during summers in my American cousins house (I live in a country that doesnt really show Buffy on tv). I think you should definetely let your cousin watch but probably not past season 5 especially due to the darker themes eg with spuffy. I kinda had that same situation with my sister and Charmed(which I also love) when she was 8, eventually I broke down and let her watch but I always used to tell her to close her eyes at the scary parts because I knew the scenes so well and usually watched with her and as far as I know it did her no harm 😛

I heard about it when it was first popular (around 1998/1999 I think, so I would have been 4 or 5) because an older friend of mine loved it and my uncle really liked it. I always thought of it as being a 'girly' show and just didn't think it looked very good (admittedly, a show called 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' does sound horrendously corny).

It wasn't until I was 11 years old (in 2006) and my best friend at the time gave me the 'Once More with Feeling' soundtrack to listen to. I was skeptical at first because it was Buffy, but I remember vividly listening to it for the first time and falling in love with every single track. I listened to that album every single day. It got the point where I just had to see what the show was like, so my mum bought me the first Season on DVD to start me off. Needless to say, seven years later, it's one of my favourite shows of all time, and always will be.

I was around 12. I think I was in 6th or 7th grade. I do remember watching Buffy from the beginning from about Season 1-3.. and didn't pick up on the later seasons until I was nearly twenty.

Other WB show kicked in too. I remember through a school week in Middle School, me and a few friends would discuss Buffy and Dawson's Creek, haha.

I was in 8th grade when I bought season one on DVD & became OBSESSED so I was 13 or 14...I think. And you know what's awesome is how when you get older, most of the things you loved when you were younger seem silly or ridiculous...so glad that's not the case with BtVS.

I love these kind of questions. The what/who/why
questions. They can open up conversations about
the show in a less direct way.

I was 12 when the first season aired.

I supposed I watched until I was 14/15. I think
that I checked out somewhere during Season 4.

I didn't begin watching again until I was 19 after
the show had finished. I somehow had no clue
what had happened on the show. I started fresh
from the beginning, buying the dvd box-sets each
week with my paycheck.

I believe I was, like many of you, about 9 or 10 as well. I was in the fourth grade, I remember that much! But back then I didn't watch it religiously, just whenever it was on and I wanted to feel like a little rebel. 😉 It wasn't until middle school that I watched it seriously and not until this past year when I decided to do a rewatch did I really fully understand/appreciate it.

How old was I when I got into Buffy?

I was 15 years old when I got into Buffy, the first time I discovered the show was when I was at boarding school. More that occasionally I would hear the name Buffy and would discover it was a TV show that was becoming so popular.
One time I would be beholden to a Buffy poster I found when I peeked through my friend's window as he had one above his bed. I was stunned by her beauteous appearance and would develop a massive crush on her. It was like a Romeo and Juliet moment. Whenever I started watching the show I would imagine myself being there when she slew vampires and hoped I could win her heart.

I was 10ish. I think 7 is too young. I have a 7 year old daughter and I would never let her watch it!
