The new boss was calling people into her office to chat. Several came back looking a bit...upset. Not me! The first thing she said after I sat down was, "I've been watching how you interact with the customers, and I'm really impressed. You make them laugh, and you keep eye contact. Keep it up!" She also shared with me that a couple of my coworkers needed to work on their customer service skills. (Which I already knew!) π
She asked if I could "help" a few of them by demonstrating how to engage with customers. I immediately pointed out that that wouldn't go over well with them, and would probably cause resentment. "However," I added, "If you were to promote me, they'd be more likely to listen." She gave me a big smile, and said, "Let me think about it." (Actually, I wasn't serious. It just popped into my head)
I know that I'm damn good with people (when I want to be). You really can't teach that....well, if I were promoted and got a raise, I'm sure I'd find a way. Good thing I stuck with this job until we got a GREAT boss. She's tough, and she doesn't play games. My coworkers won't be able to suck up to her and get special treatment like before...she's watching everyone and expects results. Thank you God!!!
When I came back downstairs, I wanted to stick my tongue out at everybody. I love how she scares the crap out of several coworkers. Its quite amusing. π
