This is for yesterday which was incredibly weird. When I got home, there was an ambulance, my parents, a priest, LAPD and paramedics next door where my sick uncle stays. This couldn't be good. I went over there, and his young nurse was sobbing her eyes out. She couldn't even talk for a few minutes....even though she was a nurse, she was only 19 and it was the first time somebody had died in front of her. Plus, she was all alone when it happened. I couldn't take all of the gloom so I left. Thirty minutes later, my mum called so I went back. She was in the kitchen going through the cabinets, and asked, "Do you want some of this food?" I looked at her in horror. There's a dead body in the bedroom, and the last thing I want is to rifle through his food. I soon realised she was just trying to keep busy to deal with everything...but it was just too much for me. I felt surrounded by grief and craziness. I had to get the hell out of there. (And NO, I don't want to stay for his last rites!!!! Gawd!)
As I leave, there's a few nosy neighbours observing from a distance. I'm praying they stay over there. They don't, of course. One approaches me with her little granddaughter, and offers condolences. Meh. (You nosy cow, you don't mean it...you just want details to share with others) I just nodded and ESCAPED to my place. I wasn't at all close to him, but he was a nice old guy. I didn't FEEL anything about him dying, since we all knew it was going to happen rather soon. Still, I DID feel terrible for my stepdad, who had to deal with my PSYCHOTIC mum on a day like this.
Mum: "Do you want the kipper snacks and canned soup?"
Me: "No! I don't! Can't you do this another time?"
I've never gone to a funeral, and never will. I just think it's incredibly morbid and depressing. On a lighter note, I look forward to avoiding EVERYONE today. My stepdad and his sister are handling the funeral stuff...hopefully my mum will leave them to it.
For the record, I'm not upset over the death, just the way people get all weird. Nosy neighbours, food-snatching mum ("Waste not, want not!"), depressed stepdad...thank God for weed!!! Seriously. 😀
