How was your day - Part 4

My day has been a mixed bag. 😱 Had to contact the school as Abbs is being bullied again. Sigh, she came home crying again today. I know she only has 1 week left but I don't care, they are a crappy school now 🙁 But we ended on a high... got Abbs school reports back for the year and she got top marks for ability and effort in all subjects bar 2 which were on par with her age group. And we got her SATs (exams) results back and she aced them all with higher than expected on English writing, and at the right ability for all the others, which is hard to get in the SATs apparently. So really proud and really chuffed for her as everything she has been through in that school being bullied... she has come out on top for grades! So proud I'm bursting 😀

Im.about to go to the market. Love this marlet so glad its happening 😀 it was raining this mornin but I can tell when it stops cos the kids all come past on their scooters and bikes as soon as its clear. Kinda love to see that, its so lovely and safe for children here.

Got the urchins (daughter and son-in-law) to Balsam Lake Provincial Park for a weekend of camping. The last time did this, we were carrying the canoe and got a late start with a violent thunderstorm over us most of the way there. It took forever that time to get their campsite as someone else was already in the spot the urchins had reserved. I got home at 4:20 AM then.

It was easier this time. Good weather, we were not carrying the canoe, the campsite was empty and I managed to get out of it without issues (the last time, it took several times to get out because the urchins took the map and I had never been there before). This time it was get in, slay the Minotaur and follow the same thread you used to get in. I got back home at about 12:30 AM.

I tackled the bitey bush today. FIlled the bin to the brim. The birds really like its berries but it shot up, shading the back garden too much, and has huge thorns on it so it needs to go. There are still 2 others on the property that the birds can nom on, they didnt grow as fast as the one I removed has.

The bad, bad person soundtrack of my mind has started up again. So bored of that brain, wish I knew how to turn it off! At least its not constant anymore, but the respite from it almost makes it harder to deal with when it comes back. A little boy bunny must have heard it too cos he's come out from under the couch to join me for dinner. The girl one still hates me cos I took her castle away, in the hope she would start eating hay instead of cardboard.

Well... It's been a weird day. Spent an hour at the doctors as they always running late. Had coffee. Tidied up quick s then had Abbs grandparents round for 3 hours. Had coffee. Had a nap. Had coffee. It's also Abbs last day at that crappy primary school. So So glad she is now out of there. Onwards and upwards hopefully. Now for the summer holidays 😀 and Buffy watching as Abbs wants to finish Buffy by the end of the holidays... so far she has rewatched season 1 & 2 and is on s3 again. So I'll have time to work on some art and to post here again. Oh and a bunch of lazy days ahead but not next week as I'll be gutting Abbs room of all baby/kids stuff and making it ready for a more grown up Abbs. So the computer will go upstairs at her desk although I might have to buy her a new one of those!! Also need the dvd unit built this weekend so I can move all her more grown up dvds to a better place... maybe painting not sure yet, oh and just planed a sleepover for her friend here next week.... phew... coffee time I think!

Me & mom just got back from the eye dr. She needs new glasses. Also hit the grocery store. Got KFC before the appointment. Was basically mom's uber today. 😉

Got bored yesterday afternoon so I drove down to the coast (15 miles away) & stopped on 'Portsdown Hill' overlooking the Solent. There's an excellent Burger van sited at the viewpoint there so I sat in the sunshine with a large Chilli-burger & watched the world go by...…….

Life's been a bit heavy recently so it was a great way to recharge the old batteries...…..

I managed to land a job interview for Friday. It's in a career path that I'd started studying towards when I was younger but dropped for reasons that were pertinent at the time. I'm not really sure what to do. I mean, it'd be good to go back and do something that I'd initially studied towards, but on the other hand, I'm real tired of working and mentally I still feel like I need time to myself and not working every day.

Just been told that the idiot colleague is leaving, so yay good day. Means I change my days but I can stop cleaning up after her, when she was meant to be cleaning!

It's hot. it's 31 in my house downstairs with the doors and windows open. Still a good day for drying clothes outside, lol. Not such a good day for housework, which I have to do as got Abbs friend round at 3 and my mate to do her paperwork. Nevermind. Other than that it's an ok day.

@Ethan Reigns I run the place so I pretty much do whatever I want. So... yeah. Plus you know... work 12 hrs a day with no vacation days, I make 'vacations' when I can. I've had one day off (which was not a national holiday) in two years. And then I worked half of that from home. So yeah. Bass for breakfast is a concession I allow myself.

This is from yesterday/today. Worked late then early. So just posting this now...
My vacation is next week. Just got the schedule yesterday. They had me listed as working 2 days next week. Went full ginger and told (not ask mind you) the assistant manager to 'fix it'. Think he was too stunned to argue. Finally got fixed today by store manager. Who just had to get his 2 cents in about the proper way to request off (which I of course did). He's lucky he didn't say that yesterday. 😉 So I just nodded and rolled my eyes. 😛 So after tomorrow, should be off (at least) the next 8 days! 🙂

I have had an old Philco 37-10 radio for a year that I hadn't even examined yet, so I wrestled it onto the bench for a look. At first, it seemed bad - it looked like the primary winding of the power transformer was open and this would have brought things to a permanent halt immediately. But I unsoldered the transformer leads and added solder and got a decent measurement (5.8 ohms in case you were wondering). The ON - OFF switch was bad so that is going to be the next item. One technician I used to work with had the solution to the surface oxide problem that makes a lot of devices look like they are open - he used test leads made from banana plugs with #28 tuberculin needles plugged into them. This breaks through any oxide or insulation and you can make measurements right through the middle of an insulated wire if you want to.

Today is so hot and full of evil housework... sigh... I hate housework. But... if I wanna go spend a few days with my brother and family it needs to be done.
So... washing up, clear kitchen and living room, get the 3rd wash load out and 4th on!!!!! Etc etc.
Slightly gutted I'm not on the list!! lol

Anyway was about 20 feet away from an old guy who caught a long foul ball with his bare hands! 😮 He got a standing ovation from our section of the stadium!

Had lotsa fun. Then went for dinner, drinks & dancing. Was supposed to be mostly cloudy. So went sans sunscreen. Ended up mostly sunny & hot. So am nice shade of lobster now. 😡 Other than that, was pretty great! 🙂

Yesterday I went to meet a wildlife carer. I wrote myself a not NOT to take a joey on the first meeting... Now I have a western grey kangaroo joey. I named him Toby.

He is a sook. I took him on seeing him as a rehab release patient, he has told me that is not the case and he is actually a very scared little boy who misses his mummy and wants an auntie to love him. Constantly. I left the room to put washing on, and he screamed for me. Last night he slept on my belly in my bed, fleas, ticks and all cos he was crying in the basket all alone. Today I got the ticks off him, found some grass with a bit of dirt on the roots and tried to get him used to the movement of the house. He has knocked my pace back considerably. It will be good to get out of the GO GO GO crash routine, cos he is still on 5 feeds a day and needs more cuddling than that. Who just peed his pouch. Poor lil guy, I'll get the toileting bit right soon!
