How was your day? - Part 5

Beavers will pull a small dog underwater and roll it over a few times to drown it just like an alligator. I have seen one in the creek near us and he is quite large. One man who had a beaver eat his small dog at a dog park was so furious he went home, got his hunting rifle and shot the beaver but that was another place east of me in Mississauga and another beaver. Trees stumps with conical chew marks around the top are a sure sign that a beaver is nearby.

Wow. Had no idea beavers were such killers!
Beavers sound annoying! Great argument to only have large dogs 😛 But, I wonder if Oz would still have larger inland water supplies if we did have beavers collecting it up in creeks. Did the guy who shot one collect its teeth?

It have a mild migraine today. I haven't eaten since midday yesterday and am still waiting for the water filter to finish its job. Cranky pants are on.

I think I have just figured out why I get treated like a dirty, rotten criminal by some people here. Someones smoke alarm was going off beeping for periods intermittently all night. At first I was worried it was an elderly neighbours house, so I went for a quick walk around the block at 9.30pm. I figured out that it was actually coming from the homeswest (social housing) block up wind from me. There are new tenants in residence after the last lot got driven out of town for being aboriginal. I could smell this awful chemical smell so I started googling what it could be, worried that I had some roof fire starting or something. I found out that my latest garden plan probably looks extremely suspect. According to google, meth houses also bulk up their gardens in bizarre ways, the cooks spend time outside to escape the fumes, have no known employment and have more visitors than extra curricular activities. This explains all of the strange interactions that I have had with towns people lately. And why everyone keeps asking me probing questions as to where I get my money from. Now I hate methheads even more for making me look suss. I am just a weird and disabled introverted geek! I do not need any more bad vibes coming my way. I can't hack it.

I do not understand the meth. It really distresses me to know it is here in town. When I lived in the city, we had an axe murder in broad daylight from a cook gone crazy. I walked that street every day when I lived there. I was a victim of self induced psychotic meth heads while hospitalised. The Media reports that the city meth use has decreased - that is because they are turfing them all out to rural areas! Practically paying the to go. For a while I was sympathetic to those who need the escape from life, but now I realise the ongoing use of meth and the situations they end up in are a CHOICE. After the withdrawal I went through to get off doctors dangerous medications, I see the users as very, very weak. I had the unfortunate experience of meeting my friend new boyfriend who is completely gaming the welfare system and partying every night, claiming mental ill health benefits while chasing meth the whole time. It totally sucks that their rent is capped at $68 a week with no wait time on housing because they have spawned (children not in their care). I was told it would be a 5-8 year wait for a single woman with disability to be offered rural social housing. And if I did not take the first place I was offered, where ever it may be, I would be put back down to the bottom of the list. Men with a history of violence, drug abuse and criminal records are granted their location requests and practically handed homes. I do not understand this system.

It certainly pushes me more into joining a religious group, safety in numbers. I text the Jehovahs Witnesses today to ask for a bible study. No one from the catholic church does home visits. I miss the Christian community where I lived in a shed. They have always assumed the best, not the worst, about me.

And now the laptop refuses to charge. Probably my last post from this faithful little thing. 🙁

Yesterday was krazy! Worked most the day. Found out our main offices are in the middle of that Cali blaze. Apparently most of our computer (including credit cards, customer info, even some of the lights) stuff runs thru them. So half the registers were cash only. The others had to go thru several hoops (including calling verification for purchases over $100) for credit. Fortunately, most of the day, I was on one of the cash only registers. To be fair was paired up with girl with a cane. So I was basically (self appointed) in charge of reshelving product. We're all (usually) supposed to keep up with that kind of stuff, but I tend to be a little more proactive. Plus I generally work a bunch of later shifts and we got to have that stuff done. Anyway...

After work went out with friends. Hit a few clubs. Met up with the GF. Eating, drinking, dancing, a little karaoke...was lit! 😀

Got married last weekend, and currently still in Portugal enjoying my honeymoon. Life is good.

Ps, it is very easy to spot the Scots in Portugal as they walk around in shorts and t-shirts as the locals are wrapped up warm for November.

Am pure roasting.

Leaf raking today in preparation for the vacuum leaf pickup this week.

Yesterday was the last London Vintage Radio Club meeting for the year and I sold three of the five items I brought. Snow was forecast but never materialized. The 350 km round trip to London, Ontario was great and the car was flawless except for a frozen door lock in the morning. It had thawed by the afternoon. The speaker for the event spoke about Avery Fisher and his radios and his unusual schooling for someone running an electronics company - his degree was in English Literature and he worked for G. P. Putnam's Sons and Dodd, Mead and company and he did cover art illustrations for books. He was a violinist and wanted to make radios and amplifiers that retained the full fidelity of the source material. He was Avery the Distortion Slayer.

The fires in California are terrible, at present the flames are headed towards Malibu. The prime minister has said he will cut what the government pays the forestry dept if the blaze gets much bigger.
Seriously, the people in Malibu who are under threat from the fire want help.
There is a fire there most years so if the government gave more money it might help.

Most of those people are quite wealthy, so the government doesn't need to give them any money. It's sad about the fires, but they can rebuild. Just saying.
I had a good day today. Seems Tuesday has become my 'check in with the neighbours' day. There was a funeral on in town and I can't figure out if I knew the person who died. A fair few attended but there were two oldies with the same name and I am not sure it is the one I am thinking of . Craft group was quiet so I dropped in to do some drawing for a while and catch up with those ladies for a neighbours birthday. I found out why my seedlings never go any good - they say conditions are so different here and every thing they ever try to grow from shops are stunted. Plants wont thrive unless they are started here. I also got a recipe for wild rabbit deterrent.

Todays insult from the neighbour "you look interesting" I always look interesting. Better than boring. I thought I was dressed semi reasonable today though, grey 3/4 tights and a loose black dress with stars, an akubra and boots. Maybe I'll put the poncho on for my walk in a minute.

Been up since 5 ish trying to get the garden watered and leaves raked up. Its hard to tell if some plants are suffering from the heat, or the frosts we get before dawn. This place is in constant motion. I had an extra lovely time because the trucks have all started using the actual truck bay and even though it is peak harvest time, I didnt have a single truck stop at my fence today 😀

The power is now out for the day here. A scheduled cut, so its much easier to deal with, but they happen more regularly than I was aware of. Having full day outages this often would not go down well in the city. Its not a bad idea though in this time of climate change for us to be a bit less reliant on power. I am taking the chance to defrost my freezer, it was really full so I hope I dont lose any in the tightly packed esky. Might have to have a feast weekend if the meat defrosts!

My hands are blistered and I am happy with the work I have done today. Things are starting to take shape. About bloody time! Pretty much ready for a nap by 9am haha.

I've been debating with myself on whether or not to share this, but what the hell. 😂

Earlier, I was walking to the market when I ran into one of the security guys here. He said hello, but had an odd look on his face. I immediately suspected that he'd been present when I took those pills and passed out while cooking bacon last week. So I asked him about it. He hesitated for a couple of minutes, but then told me that I'd been naked when the paramedics arrived. (Doesn't everybody fry bacon in the nude?) I asked how did HE know this, since I'd been told that only the paramedics (and firemen) had entered my flat. Well, two of the security guys came in as well. And he was one of them. I was like, "Well, shit happens." Was I embarrassed about it? YEP! I rarely encounter paramedics/firemen, but I see these security guys all the time. So now, everytime I see them I'm going to have to pretend that nothing's wrong. Damn it!!! I don't mind certain guys seeing me naked, but these dudes are hideous trolls who I wouldn't touch in a million years. And now, they have that image of me on instant mental replay.

I hope they didn't take pictures! 😡

Sounds like a party! Dont stress, unconsious women are rarely sexually appealing to men with morals.
Just ask them what cuts/ rashers of bacon they'd recommend next time you go to the market. As a man who has high morals when he is unconscious I wouldn't find you appealing. But then we do seem to have a good laugh together, just hope the other isn't naked when we have a good laugh as that might be embarrassing.

That exactly what I was going to say. I bet it's more than mental images. That's the beauty of cellphones.

Cost of an iPhone XR? $1000
Being able to snap a selfie with a naked bacon enthusiast while they are passed out? Priceless.

Thanks for that. I feel sooo much better now. 😅

Today has been chilled. I've done nothing but be online and listen to Christmas music today! I've done 2 of the 3 food shops for Christmas/Birthday, securing my time/day slots before the rush (just got Iceland's party shop to go now)! Should be doing housework but oh well..

Had Abbs parents evening last night and she couldn't be doing better. "Outstanding student" were the words of the evening and straight A's she is getting... so proud of her and happy for her that she is finally in a school she loves.

Kind of productive day for moi. Me and mom (mostly me) replaced the deadbolt & lock on the front door. Something neither of us had ever done before. My mom didn't want to wait for my dad to do it on Sunday. Impatient much? 😉 My mom was like "you work at that tool place." I'm like "I sell them, not like I'm actually using them". LoL 😃 Guess some nearby town is without power and will be for a while. So we sold like15 generators (at the store). Which is more than we probably sell in a month! So, in a way, sort of helped people. 😳

I'm going for a long walk soon, because it's so nice and cloudy today! Plus, there's a nice breeze. I really NEED McDonald's as well. I need to treat myself after last week's fire/hospital/nude drama. The smoke smell is finally dissipating, thank God. I leave all the windows open when I'm out, despite the risk of a break-in. I just leave some death metal playing while I'm gone. 😂
I've mentioned before that I collect Barbies...and I've found a doll that I simply MUST have. She's not a Barbie, but she's just too gorgeous for words!!

I am mopey today. I dont want to go out. People expecting me to spend leisure time with them. Sitting down. Sitting down hurts! Especially when I have a long car ride to get there. If I was capable of sitting on my arse for 4 hours, I'd have an office job!

Its too expensive to socialise anyway. I so miss working (for a pay check). Its easy to feel worthless on welfare. I am constantly working in the garden, and budget well enough for day trip breaks, but I could achieve so much more in activity if I had a casual job. I need the mental stimulation and sense of value. It sucks to have such a low capacity, but I know if I could find the right supports, I could maintain work within my capacity. Sigh #dreaming

Have you ever tried writing gigs? A lot of places need content for a blog or a website or a company brochure or other such things. With your knowledge of equestrian training and events, you should be able to write easily marketable stuff for schools or magazines on training the disabled to ride. Be sure to retain all rights for what you are writing so you can sell the same article at some time in the future. The customer may want "all rights" but you should be able to sell on the basis of first rights with the article not to be sold again for some agreed time like a year. If the customer gets all rights, you will not be able to use the material again. There are a number of websites that give guidance on how to write, how to market your talents and how to price your services.

You can work from home or any virtual location and jobs may be posted on Craigslist or other such sites so you never have to leave your home. You have a deadline but you get to organize your time as you wish and some of the more driven souls have been making six-figure US dollars annually. The pay is sporadic and nothing is guaranteed but this is the easiest business to get into and once you have developed working relationships with customers, you can get repeated gigs. You can write a query letter offering your services to something like an equestrian school or a magazine on Australian herb gardens, whatever the customer wants.

Full disclosure: I have made a total of $2716 on extracurricular writing gigs in the past and I may take it up again now that I am retired.

I'll look more into this for sure. Thankyou :)
@HoppyHippy Sending a big hug your way. You're beautiful, my dear. ❤

I just got home from my little outing. I was out A LOT longer than I had planned, and it was completely dark as I approached the door. The porch lights and the indoor ones weren't on and Slayer was wafting through the open windows. I swear, if a random, "normal" person had been walking by, they might've thought an angry psychopath lived here...oh...wait...yeah, let's move on. 😛

So, I bought ice cream, lip gloss, ciggies, lemonade, and a box of frozen blueberry pancakes. Oh! And some hamburger patties. After recent events, a proper meal is NOT a bloody priority to me. I just might layer the pancakes and hamburger patties. With strawberry preserves for good measure. Maybe I'll add two hash browns! Woo hoo! (I didn't get McDonald's as planned. The line was too long and I'm NOT known for my patience)

Anyway, I'm soooo thankful that my flat is still livable. Things could've been so much worse. Thank God for firemen.

Yumyum!
Been a busy 24 hours for me.

Yesterday, around noon like now, my dad called and invited me to dinner at his place last night. A few hours later I left my apartment and walked down to the bus stop. Of course, dummy that I am, I'd forgotten that it was on the Saturday schedule (duh!) and therefore did not show up every ten minutes. So when I got there, I found that there was almost an hour until the next bus came and it was freezing outside. So I walked for a half hour until I got to a bus stop where it was showing up within just a few minutes.

My body hurts today, FYI.

Anyway, I finally made it to my dads and had dinner with him, my stepmother, and my cousin (who I hadn't seen in years), and it was a great night. I got home fairly early (compared to what I'm used to) and went to bed around 11...at 2 in the morning I was still awake and my back was killing me from tossing and turning for 3 hours. I finally fell asleep around 5 (I'm guessing) and woke and got up at 10:30 (I'm so tired).

I kinda got into a cleaning craze (if you don't know me, that's not normal, my mom's eyes about popped out of her skull when I asked for some cleaning supplies) and now my kitchen is as clean as it's gonna get atm (tons of calcium stains that are not gonna be easy to remove) and the super is coming tomorrow to fix my dripping faucet (so annoying). But, hey, now I have a somewhat clean kitchen, which feels really good. Next up is the bathroom, can't wait until I can shower at home again, been showering at my mom's place for, like, 18 months now 😱

The rest of today is definitely gonna be all about relaxing on the couch and surfing my laptop.
