How Was Your Day?

Rainy day. No chance of walkies. So I drove down to the coast to stock up on supplies. Sometimes it is amusing. I saw a lady pushing a pram while downing a tinny before midday. Kid got a wonky ride haha.

Got everything that I needed plus a fluffy pink poodle oodie on sale, and some little cheap hand weights from kmart. Need more strength in me! And then maccas for the drive home. The puppies expect nuggets.

Now home, washed my hair, got in my PJs early. Harmony is snuggled on my chest, and Lilah on me legs with Scoobynatural on tv 😁 #bliss

There is a tiny bird nesting on my patio. I saw the nest a few days ago, peeped in and the bird zoomed out so fast! I didnt see what it was. I was worried I had scared it off, but the next day I was replanting in the garden bed below it and it zoomed at me again. Today it fluttered around my head while I sat waiting for the puppies to poop.

Its so fast and small, I dont know what it is, but going by the birds that frequent the patio, my guess is a new holland honey eater. Poor little thing, its a great spot near the pond, but its gotta learn to share with me and the dogs.

Not only are we in the midst of a tropical storm, we've JUST had a magnitude 5.1 earthquake. Epicenter was Ojai, but I definitely felt it. Interesting day. An earthquake during a tropical storm. Apocalyptic.

Smoky! Luckily I still keep a mask in my purse, though it's a switch to wear it outside and then put it away inside. I saw an interesting museum exhibit comparing French and Japanese art around the 1900's.

My bread has gone mouldy, so no breakfast for me today 😡

Hope you noticed before making something with it. I hate it when I make a tasty-looking sandwich, only to notice mould spots after I've already taken a bite out of it.
Great day! Harmony does not need surgery, yet. Its great news and we are just going to monitor for a few months and see how it progresses. She may still need surgery later, but for now its ok. I was elated when the specialist told us and so relieved for her. Both dogs are happy asleep on my lap now. Bunnies are less happy as they cannot have free run of this house, they are restricted to one single bedroom. Boo hoo for buns. But big yay for puppies.

I went to the park with a friend today - she had her son with her (he's a bit of an 'energetic' kid, but I didn't mind. I guess having a nephew has made me more tolerant of children.)

She totally took me by surprise! Rung me up and asked spontaneously - she thought since her son's club was in my area she decided to see me while she was nearby; and of course I went! The sun was shining and we just chilled and chatted while her son played in the park.

This doesn't usually happen - quite often I'm the initiator of social meetups...

My brother is going out of town for three days and offered me $500 to "babysit" my 19 year old, autistic, 6' 7" nephew. That's great money, but it ain't worth it. My brother (and his ex-wife) rarely discipline their son. He has a bad temper and is used to getting his way. I haven't forgotten the time that he, my parents, and myself went to Costco back in 2016. We're getting in the car, and he refused to put his seatbelt on. So I put it on for him. He glared at me, then hit me in the leg. Big mistake on his part, because I knocked the holy freaking hell out of him. He looked SO surprised.

When I declined my brother's $500 offer, he raised it to $600. I told him I'd probably end up beating his son to death with a large shovel, just to pass the time. He didn't ask again. 😄

You'd have to remember to flush him down the toilet afterwards.
Had a 2.6 earthquake (probably an aftershock) a few hours ago. This time it was centered only a few miles from me, so we definitely felt it. A quick, rough jolt. I guess it's earthquake season!

Made me think of this character...

Shes tiny and cute! Big difference to a boy teen. I used to coach a class full of boys with autism, and they were SO strong. More than once, they'd grab the collar of a volunteer and pull them in to kiss and lick them. The kids were so strong, it was hard to get out of their grip. Other boys in that class were whipping it out on the regular, so I totally understand not wanting to babysit one!

Plus, it sucks when family tries to rip ya off. If they had to pay respite, it would be in the thousands, but they try and get a cheap deal 'cos family. My stepfamily does it too, for much easier things, in the past, they 'd pay me $10 an hour for office work, but if they hired someone they'd have to pay $22 for the same work! Tis crap to be taken advantage of.

Im on my way home from the city today. The dogs had a blast, so many new walks and fun things to do! My garden will be a jungle when i get home. Hopefully the snakes haven't moved in!

Yep, which is why I'm planning on taking food from my mother's tonight since she won't pay me to look after her animals overnight.

Today has been pretty blah honestly. It's been oppressively hot (107 today) so I have been avoiding being outside, which makes me feel like I'm in prison honestly. I can't wait until fall when I can exercise outside and enjoy going to the parks again.

I was feeling unmotivated to get out of bed but finally did at like 11am, because my dogs wanted to be fed, ha.

Then I spent most of the day working on getting more items listed on my eBay. A friend gave me a bunch of stuff to sell on commission..new clothing from Hot Topic, vintage magazines, Beanie Babies, CDs... all sorts of items.

Then I asked my friend if she wanted to use her pool - something we had previously made tentative plans to do this evening - she said she was too busy "dealing with some matters regarding her mother." Sigh.

So I packed up my computer and went to the coffee shop since I'm out of coffee at home. And here I am on BB!

Too hot 🥵
Cooking a chicken, listening to music, and really mellow.

You know, I've seen things online that say you should never mix opiate pain killers with THC. But I'm telling you right now, they have no idea what they're talking about. it's a LOVELY mixture, and I'm really enjoying it at the moment. 😅

I'm pretty sure the smoke shop up the street is dealing drugs. Last time I went in there, the guy behind the counter just gave off this VIBE. For some reason, he was hiding behind one of the she shelves and peeking out every now and then. I had noticed some rather criminal looking guys leaving the shop when I was getting out of my truck. Really, really strange situation.

I am home and not able to do all the jobs because the dogs think I am their human pillow and will not rest, unless I do. Lilah has already done a spew from being anxious barking at the fence instead of sitting nicely in the sun while I worked. Now we are all sitting on the couch and I am itching to get out and mow the lawn. Soon I will lock the dogs up and do my jobs, the problem then is that they want to play when I want to rest!

Back to the garage sales today and the first place I went to had a collection of watches but unlike most garage sales, all of the watches were running! I bought one for $10 and it has a Louis Arden name on it although I don't know whether this is supposed to be a designer name. Another place had an unusual kitchen tool - an electric jar opener by Black & Decker for $2. It was the last place that I really scored. I found a GFI (ground fault interrupter) wall socket for $5 and the real prize - a tabletop sandblasting cabinet with sprayer and ventilation fan for $20. These things are usually in the $200 range. Some days, I love my life.

Had a good day today. It was rainy and cloudy all day which broke our 4 day heat wave. Temps only got to 75F ish as opposed to the 101F it was yesterday.!
Gave the wife and I had chance to get out of the house and do some shopping and have lunch out.
