I went to my brother's to help him pack. He is living rent-free in a condo my father owned, and now that my father died, it has to be sold. It has been the worst experience of my life dealing with him. He is a hoarder, I discovered, and rage-filled and mentally ill. He keeps organizing stuff instead of packing it. I hope today's work will get him started, but I am filled with despair. Meanwhile, the condo fees aren't getting paid, because I can't pay them and my own rent, too. We have arranged for him to take over my father's rent-subsidized apartment, and the deadline for him to move in is October 31. But I have no idea if he will be ready then, especially as he will only pack if "somebody helps him," which means doing it for him. But when I try to help, he wants to direct the help, to move stuff around rather than pack it. It is nightmarish, and all while I am grieving my father and dealing with all the other tasks of being executor.
