Overnight roadworks have just started outside my place. I can feel it and I'm not at ground level.
My stepdad just called me with a huge surprise. He said my truck was ready and I should pick it up. What?!! I'd never told him it was in the shop. But somehow he found out and paid for everything. Again. 😳
Honestly, I haven't been this surprised and grateful in a long, LONG time.
Maybe God wants you to see a more blissful side of life than Goth emotions but maybe it's just that your father knows that you will come to him if you need another vehicle. Flip the coin. Either way, be sure to thank both God and your father.
The guy who delivers from the dispensary is SUCH a sweetheart. Usually we chat a bit before he leaves. Today he mentioned how unstable the current state of the world is, and that his biggest fear is seeing a mushroom cloud in the distance.
He was literally shaking as he spoke. So to cheer him up, I said, "The blast wave from the nuke would incinerate you within seconds, so you wouldn't feel any pain." He looked at me for a minute, then broke out laughing.
I do what I can to bring joy to the world. 😄
Not sure I'd want to be the passenger on that one! But I wonder if they've considered adapting this design for a modern hybrid. Except instead of electric/gas, it would be human-powered and gas. Anyway, very cool photos! On the other end of the spectrum, there is the Beeton Quadricycle of 1898: You pedalled the vehicle to start the gasoline engine. You can see the wave-shaped copper intake pipe going from the carburetor in the gas tank to the intake side of the intake-over-exhaust single-cylinder engine. The passenger sat in the front and served as the 5 mph bumper. There was no differential, so you had to keep enough speed in a turn to keep the engine running but if you were too fast, it would flip over.
I had a good weekend, went to the zoo and aquarium with a friend. We did get stuck in football traffic for nearly an hour, and when I say stuck, I mean we moved maybe 50 feet in that time. Won't make that mistake again! I was glad to have a respite, because this week is going to be about helping my brother move. I've never dealt with professional moving companies before, and it's a lot more complicated than I thought.
