How'd you find Buffy in the first place?

Two of my friends were obsessed w/ it and wouldn't shut up about BtVS and AtS lol, so then I started watching, and at first I thought it was dumb, but so addicting and I couldn't stop watching it!

I used to be a hyuuuuuuuuuge X Files fan, so I'd get a rather nifty Sci Fi/ Fantasy mag called Xpose. They do episode summaries of all relevant genre shows on the pack few pages. They were ranting about this show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer all the time, and the publicity shots they printed for the show were genuinely striking. I found myself actually skipping to the back just for the episode summaries, because the general plotlines by themselves were fascinating and the reviewer's passion for the show was impressive. So, from about the end of season 1 to the start of s3, I followed Buffy without ever hearing a character speak or seeing the actors move. When Irish terrestrial TV started showing it for the first time, my obsession was complete. 😀

I was actually obsessed with the movie when I was 5, then I just happened to be watching The WB on March 10

Same here! I loved the movie when i was younger, and on March 10th i was watching the WB and then suddenly it came on. I saw the teasers for it but i never knew what it was called or what it was about, then when it started i was like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer? From the movie?" and the rest is history...

The first Buffy episode I ever saw was Choices. I didn't know what I was watching. Then later, I caught the same characters in an ep called Hush. I was so creeped out by that ep I vowed to never watch the same show again. I kept my promise. Then I went to a friend's house and got a glimpse of James Marsters on screen. No more promise. I started watching Buffy after it was off the air. I finished all the episodes around January 2004.

My freinds Brent told me about the show.. All I could think of when he told me about it was the movie that I saw, and it wasn't very good, so I thought the series couldn't be much better, but after watching one episode I was hooked, unfortunately I didn't start watching it till the middle of season two.. So as you know there were alot of inside jokes that referred to season one so I was a little lost.. but once I got to see season one and the first half of season two, all the inside jokes I finally caught made the epiodes even funnier the second time around.. For example the scene where OZ is staring at the cheerleadr trophy and makes the comment to Willow" You ever noticed no matter where you move the eyes seem to follow you"

My first glimpse of it was over my friends house. I barely watched the episode because altho my friends adored the show I kept thinking "its called BUFFY the vampire slayer" it can't be good. However a year or so down the road me and my family always watched tv at 5pm and for the longest times we watched back to back episodes of the simpsons until we had seen them all three times each. So while we were flipping trying to find something else to watch at 5pm each day I flipped to Buffy on FX. It was Mid season 3 and we really enjoyed it so we kept going back day after day and I feel inlove with it more than others. My little brother keeps pestering me to find out if it's about vampires why at the beginning of the show do you hear a wolf howl and I tell him that's OZ but he doesn't buy it...... :clown2:

I unlike alot of people didn't find it first in my family. My father did. He showed it to me and I watched it. To this day he considers it one of the most well written shows in the past 20 years. He watches Buffy still.

that is so cool... way back when i was 14(i'm 21) i saw a commercial for buffy, and i just HAD to watch it!! but hardly anyone did, and they found that the time spot was too early on the day.. so they ok it of the air.. after only showing 6 eps... i remember beeing on the school bus, talking to my friend elisabet, but she hadden't seen it... a year or two later, they put the show back on.. this time in a later time spot. my mom watches this show 😉 she likes it alot! my mom also watches angel, er, queer eye..., i'm with her, the oc... man to think of it, she likes more tv shows than ANYONE i know lOL

it was my curiosity cause I'd seen the movie and I thought heck why not see what the tv show was like.I was 13(i'm now 19).from episode episode 1 right up to episode 144 season 7 I never missed one episode.I even got my sister and my dad to watch it.I started watching Angel 3rd season came along I lost interest

I hated Buffy for years. I thought it was like Sabrina or any other stupid high school show. But about eight months ago I started watching Buffy as a joke.. Cause it's always on when I come home from school. I always liked the character Willow but I didn't care much for the show. Then I accitently downloaded a Buffy episode, I think it was from season 6 (which haven't been aired here yet), and saw Tara and loved her. And I saw Anya and loved her.. I then Spike.. And I got obsessed. I taped every episode and soon bought all dvds and started searching the internet for anything that had to do with the show or Willow&Tara or Amber Benson.. For two months my life was only about Buffy, I didn't think of anything except the show (and the actors). (My friends give me a hard time about this, cause they still hate Buffy.) Now I have calmed down a bit, but I am still in love with the show of course..

Re:

Before I ever heard of Buffy I would on occasion be channel surfing and stumble on an eppie mid-way through. I'd watch the episode and thought it was pretty interesting. Then I started dating a guy that watched it on a regular basis and I'd sit and watch it with him. Before long I was setting my VCR to record it when I couldn't be there to watch it myself. I could relate to the characters, and the cast was very appealing to the eyes! :bounce:

I was watching a show called "First Wave" on Space here in the Great White North. It played at 9pm, and I'd put my (at that time) baby daughter to bed, then watch the show. Airing before First Wave was a show that I didn't know the name of, but it had the cooooolest theme music I'd ever heard...it was Angel. I started to watch Angel, but it was the middle of S2 at that point, and I was very lost, not having any background on the characters. I realized that Angel was a spinoff from Buffy, and Buffy had been flying just under my radar for a couple of years. I gave up on Angel, but as the next September came around, Buffy went into syndication, and a local station started to air the episodes, starting with the first one, at midnight on Saturday. I was still intrigued by Angel, and I had read in the tv Guide that Buffy had died...and I didn't know how she would be brought back. I also heard about a musical ep coming up that year...and I'm a sucker for a good musical...so I started to watch Buffy Saturday nights at midnight. Then Space started to air eps in order every day...I taped 'em all, and watched S1 thru S5 on tape as fast as I could while also taping S6 to watch in order when I caught up...***whew*** I missed a couple of eps in there, which I've since seen, but in the confusion I missed the first two seasons of Angel...and I just finished catching up with that earlier this year when Space started to air Angel reruns. I'm not a young guy, and I've seen a lot of shows in my time, but I gotta say that Buffy, and Angel are two of the best written shows ever.

I found it through a friend who had taped the first couple of episodes before she introduced it to me. It was pretty much at the very start of Buffy and I got my whole family into it. Not because they wanted to watch it but because they didn't have a choice. It was Buffy on Sky One or no TV. 😀

There was a long story with mine. I fight with myself, but I think my very first glimpse was 'Bad Eggs', I was at Heather, my freinds house and there were spiders in her room, we were totally feeking out - as teenage girls do - and went into the lounge room where her mum was watching the repeat. Then the year later, my sister, Aly, got into it. I told heather and she totally gave me the guilt trip about her being a fan since the first season, which I dont bellive seeing as we were 7 at the time. Anyways, i would occasionally watch it, but pretend I didnt like it to make Heather happy, but then we had a huge fight and I watched it full time no matter what she thought of it. Speant a WHOLE summer watching the first 100 episodes(which is why I get confuzzed and watched the last 6 episodes of s5 and 3 before the first 15 something.. [maths not my biggie] ) and yea thats my feeble story, very sad arent I?

I was actually waiting for another show to come on and thought I'd watch Buffy until it came on.I completely forgot about the other show....mah...it wasn't much good anyway!! :hihi: Kinda got hooked from there 🙂

My mother and my boyfriend (future hubby) started watching it first. The first episode I saw was the Buffy ep, "Angel" which I thought was good, but I never could commit to watching the show. Then, one day, I sat down with my mother who was bragging about this two night Buffy event! She had the episode on tape, and she told me that it was SO good, I HAD to watch it. That episode was "Surprise". Bugged by the cliffhanger, I tuned in the next night for part two. After seeing them turn Angel bad, I had to stick on for the rest of the season. And when I realized that the bad turn wasn't going away in one or two episodes, I realized that this was a deeper show than most I'd ever seen before. It was then that I became hooked. I never missed an episode after that, and that summer, I caught up with all the eps I'd missed. Buffy fan for life from that point on!
