Where the hell do I begin with my "Restless" love? I am quite shocked by some of the "Restless" hate. "Hush" is a brilliant episode, even though it "failed me", but in any case, I don't see how people can hate "Restless". Some people have pointed out that it foreshadows season 5. It does more than that. It told the story of where the characters were, and where they're going. It actually foreshadowed the rest of the series, if you look closely. I could write a BIBLE length book about the virtues, the hidden symbolism, the psychology, and the insight of that episode, so I can't possibly explain my love in one post. It's THE reason why I love Buffy. Number uno. People say it's boring, or it's out of structure. Joss was never the guy to go to for structure. (The Zeppo anyone?) Giles summed up the most important thing to take out of not only the episode, but the series as well: "It's all about the journey, isn't it?" Buffy was never about super fantastic plot lines (although she does excel in that category too), but about these wonderful characters, and the journey we've taken with them. And "Restless" was a immense tribute to that fact.

Totally with you on this! The main reason I love Buffy and Angel so much is because the characters in both shows are so great. They are imo the best I've seen in a tv show, as far as the cast is concerned. 🙂

I love them both. I get the chills whenever I watch Hush, specifically the scene when everyone first realizes that they can't speak.

But I pick Restless. I have to admit that the hype got me to TRULY appreciate Hush. I knew it was great when I first watched it, but I didn't appreciate it fully on my own. I absolutely LOVED Restless when I first watched it, and my love for it wasn't at all influenced...so I must love it more 😉 and it's a really emotional episode for me. It reminds me of Faith's coma dreams and Buffy's dream at the beginning of Graduation Day Part 2, and those scenes always make me feel...really good. I can't explain it.

I really love dreams, and the writers on Buffy truly know what they're doing when it comes to making great dream sequences. Or...they knew what they were...doing 🙁

Thats a tough choice but I have to give it to Restless the cinmatogrphy and music is just perfect
All the foreshadowing the sheer fun

Willow's softer side of Sears Tara's poem Giles singing, the intire Ice Cream truck scene
it's so amazeing

I have to say Hush, but they are both pretty amazing (S4 is actually my favourite 😀 )

Great to see another Buffy fan who loves Season 4!!

For me, I choose Restless. Not that I don't love Hush, cos I do. It's one of my favourite episodes. But I love Restless more because it's such a dream-like episode (not surprising, since it's all about dreams!) But I love dream-like things, especially in TV and cinema. The music, the way all the cast speak, act and move and react, - just that little bit slower than normal... it's so beautiful.

I wish all shows had a "Restless", where for one episode we just stand back from the drama and look at our characters, their fears, their wishes, their vulnerabilities, their beauty, and analyze a little of the journey our characters have been on, how far they have come, and of course, a little foreshadowing of where they are going.
